Laurie posted on Computers &Tech Issues Just got a Kindle with G3 as well as wireless. Is the only "mobile" device I have since I'm too cheap to pay for data on my cell phone which I can only talk on. I think I'm going to love having access to the internet (well at least parts of it, anyway ) with the Kindle. Anyone know of a Lucianne.com app for Kindle? Now that would be awesome!

Laurie posted on Main Page The Lobby Guess I can't post this interesting article on lucianne.com so I'll try here. Would be interested in what many of you think, especially if you're Brad Thor fans.
A house currently under construction near Highlandville, Missouri spans almost a full acre from wall to wall, on a 500-acre site and totals 72,000 square feet.

Nugoddess I don't have a problem with this - good for them to be able to support/afford a house of this size and I aspire to emulate their success.

RoseOfTexas I'm a Brad Thor fan...are you referring to the business of the owner, a company that “delivers multi-source intelligence (multi-INT), geospatial analysis and custom intelligence solutions to the Department of Defense, national agencies and civilian organizations?" Yeah...makes you think. I agree w/Shooter that I am happy to see $ being spent & people being employed. If these people made & spend their $ honestly I'm cool with that...no house envy here (imagine the electric bill!).

MMC Well...well...well...a third world dictator is going to run his/her country from this home?... We will need Scot Horvath to infiltrate this compound and save America...

MsCharlotteVale I think that "house" will be some type of headquarters or command center for something or another. The permit only allows one family to live there??? You'd need more than some elevators to navigate that place.

Montanabound At first I thought you meant it was Brad Thor's house! I thought, man, he must be selling a lot of books.

Betty Jean I know of a home in that area (Ozark) that was built for about the same price, built by someone who developed a software program for doctors' offices and sold it for $40 million. Last I heard he was working on other software programs. He's the BIL of the wife of a cousin. Another multi-million $$ home not far from there is on the road (maybe Hwy. 76) on the way to Ava from Bradleyville. Multi-million $$ home built by someone who retired after a lifetime of selling class rings and school annuals for Josten's. My old stomping grounds when I was a wee one.

Laurie posted on Suggested Reading Just finished reading FED UP! by Rick Perry, governor of Texas. Highly recommend it. Concise summary of the state of our over-large and over-bearing federal goverment and what needs to be done about it.

Laurie posted on Suggested Reading Just finishing The Forgotten Man by Amity Shlaes. I thought it was difficult to read but the content is important. It occurred to me after reading this book that Ayn Rand got her material for Atlas Shrugged from what actually happened in the US politically in the late 1920s and through the 1930s. History is now repeating itself. Thankfully, people (TEA Party) are protesting much earlier now than they did then. Hopefully, the ship will right itself faster than it did during the years of FDR. I think the key is to get the government to quit tinkering with the economy and let the markets work. I found the parallels between then and now to be astonishing.
