Norcalvet posted on DONAL  Hi Donal, Norcalvet here, that's the site, what's the secret to posting the link? I am semi-computer stupid. And thanks for the help in advance.

Norcalvet posted on Dogs, Cats & Critters  If I can get this to work, this is my 8 year old Walking Horse named (OK, I know) Trigger. We are doing our local Passion Play in this picture....He sure doesn't look this good right now as he is ALL fuzzed up. But when he sheds out he really is nice. It's the time in-between the fuzzies and the slick coat I dislike so much!

Rollingcow  Hey, Trigger is good. Like I said the other day my horse was a paint named Paint, he was only half Walker, but had that lovely smooth walking gate. Your horse is lovely.

Norcalvet  Thanks guys, not all horses hair up like Trigger does, Arabs traditionally don't get much of a winter coat, others like mine look like wooly bears in the winter. I try to shed him out when it's windy and stand upwind as best I can. But when the wind shifts unexpectedly, oh well. Pffffffffft!

Norcalvet posted on Main Page The Lobby  I do not know how to post the direct link, but if you google this, you can watch the bald eagles on their nest. First egg is due to hatch 30 Mar to 1 April. There is a 30 second commercial first then live feed. Warning, this can be addicting.....

Decorah Eagles on USTREAM: The Raptor Resource Project brings you the Decorah Eagles from atop their tree at the fish hatchery in Decorah, Iowa.

Linder  Thank you. We'll be watching. Saw my first eagles roosting in trees in southern Iowa a few years ago. Was thrilled. Same year saw two soaring in the sky in Arizona...another major thrill. Haven't seen any since.

OnTheBall  For those who wish to see raptors and you live in the south Texas area; there is a primary raptor migration route that several universities have students set up to do a raptor counts during the spring and fall migrations at Hazel Bazemore county park. It is in the northwest section of Corpus Christi, along HWY 624 about one mile west of 5 Points.

Ole buzzard  Bookmarked this one. Will be great to watch them grow after they hatch. I see eagles, both golden and bald, fishing when I go out on the boat during the summer. They are truly magnificent birds.

Norcalvet posted on Main Page The Lobby  Jonah, a beautiful eulogy. My soul weeps for you, your family and all of us who knew Josh only from the electronic media. Our prayers are with you, Ms Lucianne and your entire family as you weather this storm. God holds all of you in his hand, and Josh in his arms.

Norcalvet posted on Main Page The Lobby  Happy New Year from northern California, 3 hours above the Bay area! I am sitting here with my cup of tea, watching the snow (a rare event here) fall gently. The surrounding hills and mountains are covered. There is not enough on my lawn to make a snow man (the last one I made was 6 inches high, as we don't get a lot of snow here). But it is so beautiful. My sister called from down south, the B2 from the Rose parade flew right over her house. The Rose Parade is on and we are warm and dry. Lots to be thankful for in this New Year. My prayer is for all LDotters to have a wonderful year and we prevail in taking back our wonderful country.

Norcalvet posted on Main Page The Lobby  It was a cool 36 degrees this morning when I got up here 3 hours north of SF. Sunny and bright after a few early morning clouds. Gonna be a beautiful day, and I need to take up my tomato plants and try to salvage the ones turning color.

MisterDickens  Here's a great recipe for Buttermilk Chess Pie.

9" pie pan
1 - 9" unbaked pie crust (make it or buy it)
2 cups white sugar
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
5 eggs
2/3 cup of buttermilk
1/3 cup melted butter (haven't tried margarine)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Zest from 1/2 a lemon
Juice from 1/2 a lemon

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees

2. In a large bowl combine sugar and flour.

3. In another bowl combine the eggs, buttermilk, butter and vanilla

4. Mix the two bowls together and pour into pie crust

5. Bake about 50 to 60 minutes until filling is set.

You are in for a treat!
