AppealToHeaven posted on Suggested Viewing/Listening  The Honeymooners! Forward to the last 35 seconds for the climax: Blabbermouth. This scene keeps playing in my head since Obama has been beating his chest. The Navy Seals are not amused.

AppealToHeaven posted on Faith  Tomorrow is the National Day of Prayer. In addition to the Prayer Points that are suggested on their website, I have felt compelled to pray specifically for Leon Panetta and Hillary Clinton. If the insider stories of Obama's weakness are true, then our nation is in grave danger. I am praying for courage and conviction on their part to do what is in America's best interests as a sovereign nation. May God have mercy on us and give us strength and endurance to face the uncertain days ahead.

MsCharlotteVale  After what I've read, I would prefer a team of Clinton-Penetta over Obama-Jarrett in the WH. What the hell happened to us???

AppealToHeaven posted on Recipes  Dehydrated food?! This book has revolutionized my cooking this winter. As food prices soar, the dehydrated bulk food buying is the ticket for my family of eight. Plus, there is no cleaning veggies, peeling, and slicing. Granted, it's not as tasty as fresh, but so far, it has passed the taste test for the little ones. Check it out. http://www.amazon.com/s/?ie=UTF8&keywords=dinner+in+a+jar&ta

AppealToHeaven posted on Health & Diet  Thank God for oil of oregano. After a week of sinus congestion and coughing I decided to try a different approach. I put 2-3 drops under my tongue, took some deep breaths and drank a glass of water. I did this 2-3 times throughout the day. Breakthrough! The sinuses are clearing up and I am resting through the night. Look for it in natural health food stores.

Clipped wings  I now remember hearing an infomercial about oil of oregano a few years back but didn't look into it. What other things is it used for?
BTW, for simple nasal congestion you might get overnight, put a coating of Vicks Vaporub on the soles of the feet before going to bed. It usually keeps you breathing well all night. If not, put just a little more on,

Surfhut  Vicks Vaporub on the feet is another new one for me. My Mother used to rub some on my chest and pub a little glob of it in my nose before going to sleep. Putting it on my feet with a pair of socks sounds much better!

BirdsNest  Love the smell of Vicks, will try the bottom of the foot thing. Another use for Vicks...athletes foot, and better yet to those toenails affected with fungus. Its not an overnight kind of thing, but applying Vicks nightly, clean sock to protect the sheets,in about 3 months you will see the difference. Worked for me.

OnTheBall  For clogged sinuses you might try using these new small cans of pressurized saline solution. Spray the solution into your nasal passage and inhale to get it up into your sinus cavity. Then just blow your nose; repeat proceedure until your noes is clear. It really 'works', who knew!

AppealToHeaven posted on Faith  My verbal 2 year old announced yesterday, "God is great!" I was thrilled and echoed her proclamation. She then repeated what she REALLY said: "I've got a SCRAPE-on my knee." Well, He's great all the same and I was reminded to praise Him even during hard times. There's power in praise and that little practice has got me through what could have been much unneeded despair.

AppealToHeaven posted on Recipes  Help! My 5 year old has the stomach flu. My prep is foiled. I already have the bird thawing but I'm thinking I will have to go instant this year for the sides. I will hit the store this afternoon. Any suggestions? What brands are the best for instant potatoes? dressing? gravy? If I get sick, I need something REALLY easy for the older ones to throw together. Maybe we'll just eat the bird with some toast and applesauce?

Yottyhere  Get the Ore I da steamer potatoes usually in the same case with the frozen french fries. You steam them in the microwave for 10 minute. Butter and milk and ready to eat. Very good I use them all the time for just John and I because potatoes go bad before I can use them all up. Any of the veggies you steam in their own bag is good too.

Someone else will have to help on the gravy and dressing I have never bought the reay made ones.

Hope your little one gets feeling better.

Nugoddess  I have used ''jar'' gravy in the past - it's easy and not too bad in the taste department. I believe Campbell's makes this, it's in the clear jar.

I agree w/Yotty - use veggies you can steam in the micro; they are good (but more importantly, fast and easy.)

Hope Junior feels better real soon!

Yottyhere  I had forgotten about Stovetop stuffing. Of course it is very good and you can doctor it a little bit....chop up an apple and a stalk of celery. I use the cornbread type with porkchops.
I finally wrestled that big old 22 lb bird into the oven...then I texted grandson Zach to be handy in 5 1/2 hours to get it out for me..my back is singing a high aria at me now :(

OnTheBall  I always use Heinz ready made gravies for my pot pies I make out of leftovers. Toss the meat into the store bought pie shell, add the veggies after draining the juice in the can off of them, pour in the Heinz gravy, slap one of the pie shells I've cannibalized as a pie topping, swab the top with eggwash, vent holes and into the oven it goes and makes the house smell yummy. You can't believe how pretty that eggwash makes the pie topping when it rolls out.
