Bearman43 posted on Main Page The Lobby  Something strange is happening at American Thinker. An article entitled "Armored Vehicles for DHS, Slingshots for you", by Darren Jonescu, was posted earlier this morning, but has now been pulled.

If you pull up any article on American Thinker, in a column to the right of the article you'll see the headline: Recent Articles. The third one listed is " Armored Vehicles for DHS, Slingshots for you." Any attempt to open the article will render the message 404 Not Found. The requested URL /2013/03/armored_vehicles_for_dhs_slingshots_for_you.html was not found on this server.

The article paints a very disturbing view of the Obama administration's attempts at federalizing all law enforcement in the United States.

Luckily, I downloaded the article before it was pulled. I will not publish it at Lucianne.com because of possible copyright infringement.

However, the article has been posted at another website.
It can be found at: justamarine.blogspot.com

Bearman43 posted on The Range 2nd Amendment  I recently purchased a cap and ball pistol. It's an Italian replica (Confederate Version ) of an 1851Colt Navy. I told the salesman I was ready to fill out the federal paperwork. He said there is no paperwork and no background check. I paid the money and walked out the door with the pistol. Surprise Surprise.

   Safetydude  Bear..

Where did you buy it, 'Bass Pro' ?

Did you buy powder, ball and caps, as well?
I think black powder is now a Class 1: Divison 1 Explosive and may be hard to get. Everything changed after 9/11.
I still have several cans that I bought when I got my Navy Colt Replica. I those days you could buy black powder at the BX on Robins AFB, where I was stationed.
I haven't fired it in a long time and the brass is looking a little tarnished but it's a good piece.
Hope you enjoy your gun.

Drkillj0y  LOL, if you are surprised by the fact that there is no paperwork on black powder replicas then you might blow a fuse to know that you can also buy an 'antique' centerfire rifle on-line with no paperwork.

Re: Black Powder and subs (Pyrodex, APP, etc. ), they are still mostly unregulated and plentiful, just a little more expensive like everything else.

Bearman43 posted on Movies & Reviews  I found a website that many of us would enjoy.
It's called Westerns on the web: http://www.westernsontheweb.com/?page_id=6040
best of all it's free.

Just select a movie, then scroll down to the bottom and watch it.

Some of the John Wayne movies it has are:
Angel and the Badman
Hondo
Red River
Rio Bravo
The Searchers
The Horse Soldiers
Stagecoach
The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance
and many more.

Bearman43 posted on Main Page The Lobby  I just sent the following e-mail to my congressman:

I was severely disappointed this morning to learn that the Supreme Court ruled in favor of Obamacare. I believe you will receive hundreds of e-mails from your constituents expressing the same thought.

We need to take action to repeal this monstrosity. I have faith that the House of Representatives will do so, however, I realize that the Senate will not support a repeal of this legislation.

It's time to play hardball. I suggest that the leadership of the house tells the Senate and Pres. Obama absolutely nothing will be passed by the house until Obamacare is repealed.

No continuing resolution. No budget. Absolutely no bills passed whatsoever. We're on strike!

Bearman43 posted on Movies & Reviews  I'm not sure I can put down just one movie as my all-time favorite. One movie that stands out in my mind is "12 O'clock High." It stars Gregory Peck, Hugh Marlowe, and Dean Jagger. The story is about the beginnings of the 8th Air Force in England.

Another movie I like from my youth is Winchester 73. Starring Jimmy Stewart and Millard Mitchell.

"The Searchers" is one of John Wayne's best.

Bearman43 posted on Main Page The Lobby  Occasionally as I read the articles in Lucianne.com, I will find a word that is unknown to me. I use a program called Wordweb.com. It is free and is an online dictionary. I simply place my cursor over the word while holding down the control key do a right-click with the mouse and the definition is displayed along with synonyms.

Bearman43 posted on Movies & Reviews  My opinion of some movies.

"Enemy at the Gates" to Russian and German snipers play a game of cat and mouse at the battle of Stalingrad. Couldn't figure out who to root for.

"Red Tails" Tuskegee airmen fighting for a chance to fight the Germans. Great computer animation. Some parts of the story were good, some parts of the story were so-so.

"Master and Commander-The Far Side of the World" Great story, very good photography.
