Browneyes posted on Movies & Reviews  Rake King, I can't remember the name of a great movie starring Fred MacMurray and Joan Crawford on their honeytmoon in Europe and become entangled in foreign intrigue and she displays a quirky habit of reaching for a foot when feeling threatened. Spys, maybe, but I just cannot find anything about it. Thanks.

Browneyes posted on Main Page The Lobby  Rake King, do you know the name of a movie which starred FredMacMurray and Joan Crawford who, while on their honeymoon in Europe, were caught up in a spy situation and Joan's role highlighted a habit she had of reaching for her foot, when she felt threatened? Great movie of intrigue. Thanks

Browneyes posted on Main Page The Lobby  Perhaps, those who have access to C-Span2 should plan to observe the US Senate beginning tomorrow and watch what Sens. Merkley,OR,Whitehouse,RI,Udall,NM, Cardein,MD, are planning to bring to the floor a historical Senate Rule, that rules of the Senate can be chamged on the 1st day of a new session.

The issue of the Fillabuster and the passing of a rule which would change the number of votes required from 60 to 51. Were this to happen, the very traditions of 236 years of history will have been tossed aside and the Senate will become as the House, thus,no longer the Government we thought we had.

Rake King  Lillian Hellman wrote the Broadway play, which later was made into a movie in 1943 (the height of World War II ). It starred Paul Lukas and Bette Davis. Perhaps many of our young people should see this movie to better understand that time when Hitler had began to jail Jews in camps. Why many left Germany, even Europe to be safe and how brave it was for any to return...if even to save another.

Balogreene  Thanks Rake. Lillian Hellman was a communist, but some of her stuff is still effective. I love the movie, but didn't know it was Hellman, it was a play first, or, it was made during WWII.

Rake King  They wanted to cast Charles Boyer, but his French accent got in the way. Hellman was a self confessed Red, as were many in Hollywood, and acting, who felt the state was all for little people to survive...Yet all lived the high life in the Democracies of the U.S. and Western Europe. A double standard that cost most their respect and acceptance.

Browneyes posted on Main Page The Lobby  Well, here goes. I'm timid about posting here, but I have a nagging question and wondering if anyone else is curious as to why mccain and Graham seem to be the only "faces" we see from the Congress. Yes, when a specific subject ie: Benghazi, but it appears that those two are "it". Are any other Senators invited to appear, or must others request "face" time.

Ole buzzard  That's an interesting question. I think it has to do with the fact that the MSM doesn't want to feature the likes of Jim DeMint or Allen West on camera asking that kind of question.

Gerty  I tend to agree with Mr.Buzz. I have always been under the impression that McCain and Graham were raging RINOS.

Saguni  I think Kelly Ayotte (sp? ) was in on the complaints with Graham and Mccain, but Pravda wanted to "show" it was only "old white men" complaining against the "pure black pResident, so that is what we see in the MSM.

Hollyhock  Kelly Ayotte is a white woman and Republican. The MSM won't acknowledge her because it doesn't fit their narrative of a "party of old white men."

Browneyes posted on Movies & Reviews  Rake King. I have a question. Do you remember buying "Dixie Cups" with pull-off lids and each had a picture of a movie star? One wonders if they had been collected, would the have value?

I love these mental excercises.

Browneyes posted on Recipes  I just read a recipe and it struck me as an "interesting" meat loaf. Mix up your "regular" recipe, then roll it out on waxed paper,or butcher's to about 9x6. Brush Cream of Spinach{like Swansons}over all then sprinkle chedder over that and roll up, seam side down and bake as usual{60 min.} Haven;t tried, just found it different.

Balogreene  My sister makes something like that. She doesn't like stuff mixed into ground beef, just some seasoning and a small amount of cracker crumbs. She then rolls it out, puts spinach (she uses frozen ), mushrooms, and cheddar cheese in it, and then rolls it up. It's really good. I'm a fussy eater, and don't like the taste of beef, so for me to like it, it has to be good.
