HopeandGlory posted on Movies & Reviews  I just thought you might want to know that Hubby and I have been drug kicking a screaming into the 21st century . . . we now have a "Smart Phone" each . . . Oh Boy! won't the kids and grand's be surprised? . . . it was definitely time and the phones were so cheap we couldn't resist . . . Smile!

Richdet  OK, Hope, I think this is the easier of your two questions. Who else can it be but Edith Head, the costume designer? I can't think of any other woman in any area of endeavor who would be a likely candidate. If the question were confined to actresses, the answer is more obvious: Katharine Hepburn. She won 4 times. I am confident Edith Head won more times than that. She had countless nominations over decades.

HopeandGlory  You are correct as per usual Rich. Edith was a great designer and worked in so very many movies. She was nominated 35 times and won 8 Oscars.

Richdet  My wife reminded me that Edith Head kept her Oscars lined up across the front of her desk at the studio. So any actress or actor who turned up to challenge Edith's costumes had to talk to her literally over a phalanx of Oscars for costume design. Very cagey. A guarantee that all such "discussions" would be brief.

StormCnter  Edith Head perfected the quickly recognizable persona, with the big glasses and the slicked back hair.

Richdet  At first I was thinking maybe John Ford the director, or maybe John Williams who has composed the scores for so many celebrated movies. Then it occurred to me that producers win Oscars. So my hunch is you are looking for Walt Disney.
