Jrmax13 posted on Main Page The Lobby Happy Thanksgiving! Was that great recipe thread on Lucianne at Thanksgiving or Christmas? My memory fails me again. That was a great thread for the couple of years I saw it.

Jrmax13 posted on Recipes Just last week I was diagnosed with pre-diabetes. I suppose that is the new phrase for borderline type II diabetes. Anyway, I was wondering is any of you had any low-glycemic recipes you would be willing to share. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

BirdsNest Start counting carbs. 60 gm per meal, and 30 gm per snack.

Duchess I would look at the South Beach site. There are tons of recipes that focus on the low glycemic approach to eating. Good luck with this.

Jrmax13 posted on Main Page The Lobby I am posting this over here because of not being able to re-comment on articles over on Ldot. Here is my frustration. So many of you have such a die-hard blind loyalty to Perry that it is somewhat disconcerting. There are other Ldotters such as ctpro, sabe the decoy queen, and ratso ferrari who seem to get what many others on lucianne’s site cannot fathom: Once all of the truth comes out about Rick Perry and his record --- he will be UNELECTABLE. Folks, do not get saddled with this guy. I live in Texas. My family has lived here for over a 100 years. I consider myself to be conservative/libertarian in my political views. Most Texans do not exhibit this blind loyalty to Perry because we KNOW about him and we tend to follow him much more thoroughly than a voter in MN who only heard his name last year for the first time. We know people who have worked with him and against him. I love it how someone in VT suddenly becomes an expert on Perry and says “You can just tell he has character” or “He just seems so genuine.” This is all based on emotion. What are we Conservatives or Liberals, people!? I find it very difficult to ignore his history with the Democrat party, Al Gore, Global Warming, and Karl Rove. However, it is his stance/dance on Illegal Immigrants that really upsets my cart. Please remember his quote on September 22, 2011 at the GOP Presidential Debate at the Orange County Convention Center - "If you say that we should not educate children who come into our state for no other reason than that they've been brought their through no fault of their own, I don't think you have a heart.” How can you possibly support this man hearing that? Would you like to read about his support for Binational Health Insurance? Then please go to his own website at http://governor.state.tx.us/news/speech/10688 Gov. Rick Perry's Remarks to the Border Summit in regards to Binational Health Insurance Wednesday, August 22, 2001
This is just a taste of what he said that day. “Legislation authored by border legislators Pat Haggerty and Eddie Lucio establishes an important study that will look at the feasibility of bi-national health insurance. This study recognizes that the Mexican and U.S. sides of the border compose one region, and we must address health care problems throughout that region. That’s why I am also excited that Texas Secretary of State Henry Cuellar is working on an initiative that could extend the benefits of telemedicine to individuals living on the Mexican side of the border. As a compassionate state, we know that for our children to succeed, they must not only be healthy, but educated. The future leaders of our two nations are learning their fractions and their ABC’s in classrooms all along this border. Immigrants from around the world are being taught in Texas classrooms, and our history is rich with examples of new citizens who have made great contributions. We must say

MysteryLover The political season is way too long and the mewling and puking over who to support has become boring and tedious and plays right into the hands of Obama and his bootlickers in the press. NO candidate is perfect and I know I will vote for the person opposing Obama. No matter who that person may be. Stick with your conservative principles, pay no attention to the press or to polls and vote Obama out of the White House. I'm from Texas also and while Perry is not without fault he is perfect in comparison to Barack Hussein Obama.

Thwarkmaster Jrmax, I believe the Republican nomination is going to boil down to Newt or Rick, and while I'm not thrilled with Rick, he has pledged support for preserving the 2nd amendment, without which we are finished as a nation. He promises support for domestic drilling, without which we are finished as a nation. Illegal immigration is also a vital issue, but I find him overall less offensive than Newt. Excuse me Jrmax, are you going to sit it out if Rick is the nominee? Nothing wrong with that, because I would have voted for the coffee and cookies party nominee if romneybama had gotten the nod. He's a goner, thank goodness. How bout telling us who you think is better than Perry?

Bettijo I live in Georgia and I have been following Herman Cain long before he thought of entering the Presidential race. What I like about Herman is that he is honest, has integrity, loves this country, is a true black American, not a mulatto raised in another country, and he is a proven leader. So he mispoke a few times, have you not done that? I have. At least he knows there are not 57 states in the US and he has not told us he was "under heavy fire" like Hillary did. JFK surrounded himself with experts in all fields...that is what Herman intends to do. None of us can know it all. Obummer surrounded himself with "yes" men/women who know nothing of the real world. Can't you see the difference? Smart people don't know everything, they know where to go to find the information they need. I am on the Cain Train. I have had enough of professional politicians who are clueless about how to create jobs, boost the economy, etc. Obummer's administration scares me to death.

Safetydude Roger that, Bettijo ! I remember when Herman sub'd for Boortz. He always made sense even back then. I hope it boils down to either Newt, Cain or Perry. Any one of them can beat Obama. I want Michelle to do well and would vote for her, in a heartbeat. But I do wish Mitt would go away, but if I have to, I will hold my nose and vote for our candidate. Just like 2008.

Magdalene Hate to disabuse y'all of your notions, but the GOP powers that be have already decided that Mittens will be the nominee. And they're not going to let a little thing like a primary get in their way.
October 30 at 21:03 EST .

| |
Saguni Sad to say, but I think Magdalene is right...how many of us Conservatives would have chosen Rino McCain?? but the Nat'l GOP foisted him upon us, and we held our nose and voted for his reach-across-the-aisle moderate self. The national GOP is as much an enemy to Constitutional conservatives and the die-hard liberals ever will be, and they're stealthy, too.

MsCharlotteVale By the time I voted in the primaries in Utah in '08, McCain was the chosen one. The better candidates didn't have the first chance. The powers-that-be control more than we know.

Jrmax13 Thwarkmaster, I actually am not satisfied with any of the candidates completely. If Perry is the eventual nominee, then I would write-in Paul Ryan. If Perry chose Ryan for a running mate I suppose I would have to hold my nose and vote GOP. I would never, ever consider voting for "the one/won." If really pinned down on the "current" candidates -- I would have to go with Cain/Gingrich 2012! I think I could get past Cain's gaffes and Gingrich's personal life baggage. Ciao For Now

Dixonnh I read several months ago that Romney WOULD be the Republican nominee per "the powers that be" (repeating your phrase MsCharlotte ). I don't want Romney, not at all. Don't know enough yet about Cain to decide on him. I can tell you that I live in Texas and I have never been impressed with Perry's lack of stance against the "illegal", "unlawful" immigration problem we have. Texas spends millions and millions educating, delivering their babies, providing all medical care, feeding the families, housing them, etc at very low to no cost to these "illegally" present people. I don't think we have a strong, conservative candidate to vote for. It will take hard work and dedication by our upcoming Republican president to undo the destruction done by obama. We can only pray and hope.

Jrmax13 posted on Politics I have a question for our esteemed colleagues here at The Connection. I debated about which "wall" to place this question on and concluded that "politics" fit better than "faith." So, the question is: Why do Muslims seem to "act up" and agitate in conjunction with Friday Prayers? Does this activity happen directly after prayer time or before? My reaction to prayer time is quite different, but hey --- they practice the religion of peace, right? Any and all thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated. James

Belwhatter Just my guess, but there probably isn't much prayer content to the Friday gatherings - incendiary imams have always been behind the riots and demonstations. Hard to swallow it being an ROP

Jrmax13 posted on Politics Foreign Financial Aid I have been thinking about something for quite a while. When talking to people all over this great nation I have noticed one topic that seems to irritate more citizens than almost any other. That is the fact that the U.S. Federal Gvt. gives away a tremendous amount of OUR money to countless nations every year. I know that some politicians have come out and said something like "Oh, that only accounts for .001 percent of the yearly budget." First of all does anyone know (roughly) what the true percentage is? Second, why can't current and future Republican candidates use this as a wedge issue with the DemonCrats? If so many people agree that it is either too much or a total waste --- why don't clever politicians use that as a talking point? Also, am I being naive in that I think that most of this money is going into some dictator's pocket and not really being used for the intended purposes? Also, I couldn't care less if it was .00000001 percent of the budget --- it is the principle of the matter. I thought of this today because I am sure we will give Pakistan a ton of cash for this most recent earthquake and more than likely some Muslim thug group will end up getting the money. What do you all think?

Jrmax13 Actually, I think a better word than "naive" would have been "cynical." Thanks
