Labrador Heaven posted on Main Page The Lobby  Many years ago, when L.com was just in its infancy, I was awaiting my new sign-on and password as the one I had been using, along with the sign-on I registered with, got jumbled in the early servers for some reason. I sent Cap an email about something he wrote and wanted to know if he would post as my sign-on was in limbo. He gladly did and we had a nice exchange of emails after that. Incredible man, incredible life well-lived,and he is now Home. Maybe he'll get a heavenly version of Lucianne.com going - after all, we have enough posters there already and you know Josh is in charge of the heavenly tech end of things!

Labrador Heaven posted on Main Page The Lobby  For all Downton Abbey lovers, here's a glimpse of the upcoming Season 4 of the show. It does contain a spoiler since the seasons run in full in the UK before they run here in the US. I adore this show. (There is a new cookbook out of the recipes in the show, too. )

FL Homeschool Mom  Started watching Downton Abbey in December (watched 2 seasons on Prime in no time! ) and then counted the days until the new season started. I pre-ordered the DVD on Amazon so I don't have to wait for the new episodes on Sunday night!

I don't care for Shirley MacLaine on DA, would have preferred Olympia Dukakis in the role. Just my humble opinion.

StormCnter  I'm a Downton Abbey fan, too. A fellow L-Dotter pointed me to "The Grand", during the DA off-season. I highly recommend that series, too. It's available on DVD and is centered on a family-owned, very upscale, elegant London hotel with big-time money troubles. The time-frame is similar to Downton Abbey. Try it. You'll love it.

Labrador Heaven  Between Amazon Prime and Netflix, and even PBS' own site/IPad app, it's covered. The PBS app also has the closed captioning for some dialogue you might miss, but the episodes are only up until March 3rd via PBS. I have the IPad Amazon app and it does not yet support closed captioning.

Tonight, DVR is set for 3 programs to record, one being Boomtown, on "Hannity" and then Downton and "The Good Wife." Can't stand TGW's liberal bent throughout but the writing is fairly crisp. I'll be watching an old episode of "Columbo" while the others record. Love Columbo!!

Labrador Heaven posted on Main Page The Lobby  I'm putting this up here again, because it gets lost in all the other Petraeus threads....think it's rather an important item that no one could tie together when it was published, but look at the descriptor of "other man" job and scope, and note "The Ethicist" author's response and call-out. This was "her" husband putting several people on notice, indeed:

The word is that the second letter in the column linked below is from Broadwell's husband, showing knowledge of the affair. More interesting is the reply from "The Ethicist" column author. Intriguing. From July of this year:

(Go to second letter down, "My Wife's Lover" )

Attacks on David Barton Same as tactics of Saul Alinsky
Question: What do elitist professors have in common with Adolf Hitler & Saul Alinsky?
Answer: They masterfully use the powerful art of innuendo to falsely defame those with which they disagree.
Definition of Innuendo: A derogatory hint or reference to a person or thing.
The internet is abuzz today with leftwing bloggers, elitist professors, and downright jealous peers licking their chops and rubbing their hands in excitement as they repeat the juicy quotes about David Barton books being full of “embarrassing factual errors, suspiciously selective quotes, and highly misleading claims.”
Yet not a single article can point to a single factual error, quote out of context, or misleading claim.

Labrador Heaven posted on Main Page The Lobby  Question for Ldotters going to new physicians: Have any of you run into the new Obamacare-mandated (it seems ) questionnaires of new patients going to new physicians that ask any of the following (or more intrusive ones than listed here ):

Do you own a gun?
Where did you purchase the gun and from whom?
Are you divorced? From whom? Who left whom? Why did you divorce?
Were you depressed about it?
How many times do you leave your state of residence per year, and to where do you travel? How often do you leave the country, and to where/why do you do so?
Do you own a home, have a mortgage or rent? If mortgage, how much is it for?
Please state your full work history, including salaries.

This is part of a 3 page questionnaire of new patients - can't say by name which one on this board - but the patients-to-be were told if they did not fill it out in full, they could not be seen by that practice. It was a new questionnaire they said, in "compliance" with Obamacare (they called it by the official name ACA, etc. )and it must be answered in full. There were more detailed and intrusive questions than the ones I just delineated, but you get the point. Some answers were multiple choice only, even further limiting what you could say.

Many simply refused to fill it out and walked out. This is a specialty care practice, not gen med. I haven't yet seen any kind of selective questioning like this show up on our hospital's new patient info sheets, but I'm wondering if anyone else has. The above practice is in North Carolina.

Labrador Heaven  That's why so many would-be patients walked out. Privacy is paramount, but this practice did not seem to care. They refused care to anyone who did "comply." It was a cardiac practice. We're wondering if they received payments of some sort for even those who refused to answer and walked out the door. It was a substantial amount of people with long-booked appointments.

Kono  Do you own a gun?

Maybe.

Where did you purchase the gun and from whom?

What gun?

Are you divorced? From whom? Who left whom? Why did you divorce?

I'm not sure I recall.

Were you depressed about it?

Depressed about what?

How many times do you leave your state of residence per year, and to where do you travel?

I don't keep count of my travels away; but when I go I usually spend the time visiting government bureaucrats' dreams to give them grief for prying into other people's private lives.

How often do you leave the country, and to where/why do you do so?

We haven't had a sovereign country to leave (or to live in ) since the mid-to-late 1990s.

Do you own a home, have a mortgage or rent? If mortgage, how much is it for?

I think I own a home somewhere. But someone else lives there, another person makes the payments, and I've never actually seen the place. (It's so much easier and cheaper to live vicariously and let others take the risks. )

Please state your full work history, including salaries.

I've been your full-time assistant for over ten years, and you haven't noticed yet?

To 'leave the country' you have to be in the country to begin with. I live in-town and don't spend much time in the country.
