Namma posted on Main Page The Lobby Flight 93...Memorial is being built by private donations. Seems that the government is not helping at all to build a memorial to these very brave who fought back. HALO Foundation out of Akron Ohio is collecting donations. 93 Cents for Flight 93. If you have time and can donate...please do. thank you

Namma posted on Politics Get this...the IRS was closed on Friday because the IRS and Washington DC observes the end of slavery in D.C. Not in the USA...but just in D.C. in 1862 Lincoln signed a law freeing the slaves in D.C. Washington DC shuts down on this holiday. This is why TAX DAY is on the 18th this year.

Belwhatter Seems to me there are other legal holidays that concelebrate the end of slaveryThis does nothing to further endear the IRS - it is more evidence it needs to be closed down. Reform of the tax code is long overdue - it is now several thousand pages long - utterly ridiculous - with reform it could be cut down to one page - fancy this - how much did you earn? send one tenth, the rest is yours.

Namma posted on Main Page The Lobby So today i picked up my truck driving baby sister as she was driving thru Ohio. We went to the mall and did a little grocery shopping at a local store. While shopping, we came upon two very nicely dressed young men who were complaining about SB5 that was just passed in Ohio and is suppose to be signed today by Gov.Kasich. These two men were complaining that now they have to pay more for their own health insurance..AND..the worse part...they would now have to work on MERIT. Can you imagine..I told them that was just terrible. tsk tsk...work on thier own merit. Well, they explained that the guy they work for hates them and would never give them a raise. Life sure sucks sometimes..get a job smeplace else...Oh and these two guys complaining about SB 5, were shopping in a non-union store. Unions are trying to get a petition going to recall Gov.Kasich.

FL Homeschool Mom One thing that bothers me and I know everyone should just be happy to have a job. However, I know one state worker in the fire department that is already facing 5 years with no raise with the price of everything going up and now they're effectively going to take a pay cut because of having to pay into the pension system. I might get nailed for this one, but I think the state should even things out so they have the same take home pay while paying into the pension system by giving them a raise to make up the difference. I'm all for them having to pay into their pension and pay more for health insurance like the rest of us, but wouldn't mind a little compromise.

Hikergal I understand your point FL but if you give them a pay raise to offset their contribution to health care and it's offset by the state it is still tax payers paying it except now a larger portion is coming from the general residents of the state instead of just the residents of the city.

Timber Queen The answer is to ban unions for public employees. Stop the cash flow between the socialist unions and the socialist politicians. As for the fire, police, and every day bureaucrat (I was one for over 20 years), I think the unions should pay a share of the pensions and health care. Use the dues the people have been paying to help cover those costs, not using them for political payola.

Carolina Kat Great comment Namma! (It should come with a warning to put down the coffee.) We bought our 27yo daughter one for Christmas with the fitness program (she's into that stuff- very fit) and the first thing it told her was that she had to work on her 'balance'. Then it guided her to exercises to do just that. (Amazingly intuitive) She promptly fell off the STATIONARY platform while doing them. How do you fall off of something that isn't moving? Still scratching my head on that one. Apparently the Wii is right, she does need work on balance. 190? I've never bowled that high in my life. You have a phenom on your hands.

Rollingcow Buy that baby a satin bowling shirt, Namma! My granddaughter is 3 and is less than graceful, she takes after her poor mother. I love my DIL like she was my own child, but the girl is clumsy and the first to admit it. I've never tried bowling on the Wii, or anything else for that matter, but the grandson is a whizz at games.
