PLPointer67 posted on Main Page The Lobby  Couldn't determine if anyone here has posted Prof. Paul Rahe's article: "American Catholicism’s Pact With the Devil". Rush covered it extenseively today. It is at:
http://ricochet.com/main-feed/American-Catholicism-s-Pact-Wi
th-the-Devil

I asked Mrs. G if I could post it on L.com, but she said Ricochet isn't a 'News Site', but it was OK to post it here.

Prof. Rahe teaches at Hillsdale College, and is the Charles O. Lee and Louise K. Lee Chair in Western Heritage and Professor of History. From what Rush said, he is also a Catholic, therefore has a vested interest in his subject. The article is long, but be sure to read the comments, as Prof. Rahe interacts with posters for more background.

Eye-opening!

Eagle's Dominion  Not yet but all the reviews are saying it's one of the better films produced in a long time. I plan on seeing it when it gets to our small town. Don't feel like driving 150 miles round trip to go to the 'Big City' just to see a movie. ;- )

PLPointer67 posted on Main Page The Lobby  I'm in San Diego, so had a day without Lucianne.com. Aaaaarrrrgggghhhh!

But, I had time to think, and I've been thinking about Mayor Bloomberg deciding to 'omit' Christian ministers, prayers, & first-responders from the Sunday ceremony at Ground Zero. (Is this still true? )

I've also thought of how the Left/BO Admin. keeps telling us to 'move past' Sept. 11, 2001, and to not think of it as an attack on America, but an expression of disapproval of our way of life, or some such nonsense.

So, I thought about Dec. 6, 1941; and then thought of what the politicians and MSM were saying on Dec. 6, 1951.

Could you imagine any credible politician/government spokesman saying to a survivor or loved-one who made it through Pearl Harbor or WWII, anything like this: "Ladies and Gentlemen, it is time to 'leave that day of infamy behind'. We are now good friends with the Japanese, and it might offend them if we dwell on those who died that day. Oh, and by the way, we also think it is long-past time for the Navy to blow up that old hulk of the U.S.S. Arizona, and clear that prime dock-side space for a new cruise ship dock. Have a nice day."

Can you imagine?

PLPointer67 posted on Main Page The Lobby  Hey all! Glad everyone is OK.

Now, down to news... When I logged into my email, the homepage had some news stories listed. ONe was, "Obama stays on top of Tropical Storm Irene". My first thought was to post it, and ask someone more clever than I, to do a cartoon of BO walking on top of the storm. But, when I went to the site, I saw it was 'The Oval - Tracking the Obama Presidency' by USA Today. It was such a 'suck-up' site, I figured it wasn't a real News site & I didn't post it.

Does anyone recall USA Today having a puffery 'The Oval' for GW's presidency???

Pickle1  I am about ready to move to the woods and pitch a tent. One of my dogs is an excellent huntress and will provide the food. I am sick of everything shutting down and people lying.

MsCharlotteVale  I do have the gift of making something out of nothing so if I end up there, call me a friend, if you will.

MsCharlotteVale  Uh, OTOH, making something of nothing may not be a good thing. I have done that. LOL

PLPointer67 posted on Main Page The Lobby  There are some things that will make absolutely NO SENSE this side of Heaven.

Then we will know, as we are known. In the meantime, we suffer and seek comfort.
All my love and prayers to Chantal, Jonah, Lucianne, and your extended family and friends.

Lana720  I have to get off these links because I am still sobbing after two days.
I see Josh as soaring like the Eagles he posted on this site - pure joy and in a dimension we cannot imagine. He was a good man and belongs to the Ages and to God Almighty in Whose Arms he now rests. Rest in Peace, dear one.
Deepest sympathies to Ms. Lucianne, Jonah and Chantal. I hope you find some measure of comfort in the words of those who truly love you.

PLPointer67 posted on Recipes  My mouth started watering last night when I saw the picture of the French Onion soup. Now, that I have been over to Cookography and have copied the recipe, I am drooling all over my keyboard. Oh the humanity!

PLPointer67 posted on Suggested Reading  Highly recommend 2 books that Glenn Beck mentioned:
'The Survivors Club' by Ben Sherwood and
'The Age of the Unthinkable' by Joshua Cooper Ramo.

The first one is great because Sherwood interviews all sorts of 'survivors'. You learn how they came through. Then you come to realize you are not alone in your trials/sufferings, and that you can pull through too. We'll need this kind of positive survivalist attitude & coping skills in the coming days.

The second gives you a BIG outside-the-box view of history, and how it can change on a dime. Ramo also interviews news-makers who were at the epicenter of historical changes - and shares how some went with the flow, and others were clueless.

I learned from both books the importance of flexibility in changing times, and how to spot people (via their traits) who will be leaders; vs. 'leaders' who can not/will not adapt, and will be left behind.
