Straitpath

Straitpath posted on Main Page The Lobby  Went to a tea party rally at our local IRS building. Only 20 people showed up. A uniform in a police car showed up to tell us to keep it peaceful. He said he is a federal cop. His car said: Police. federal Protection. Homeland Security. Had strange license plates. I mourned anew for my country.

Straitpath posted on Pet Peeves  Okay, another whine: graffiti in all it's utter ugliness.

Surfhut  The last time I bought a can of spray paint in CA, it was locked up and you had to have ID and be 18. Lots of good that did.

Rake, what you are suggesting about identifying and recording buyers is IMHO a very bad idea. The last thing this country needs is more laws that don't stop criminals but give an even bigger pain in the neck to we law-abiding people.

Linder  Thank goodness for spray paint. I am painting some wicker porch furniture a dark charcoal gray color...thought I could do it with a brush but had to buy spay paint to get in behind the weaving. Worked like magic. Having said that, I live in rural America where graffiti doesn't happen and don't have a clue about the irritation of it. It's my inclination to say "no" to another law that causes a lot of cost and extra work for businesses and law enforcement.

Straitpath posted on Faith  God loves us all. He is kind in His reckoning. All works to the good for those who love Him. One of the most broken commandments is the commandment to be of good cheer. I feast on His love through my struggles.

Straitpath posted on Coffee Klatch  I love what someone said on the mother site about truth. Truth always comes out; in fact it struggles and elbow pushes to get to the front.

Straitpath posted on Pet Peeves  I heartily dislike mothers day because of the angst it caused me growing up and being a young wife. I have told my kids gifts are against the rules. I will accept casual expressions of love via e mail. No cards. It has been a delightful day for me and for them, too, I think.

Straitpath posted on Pet Peeves  We have a home owners association committee made up of volunteers. They are little Napoleons. We need a new tree on our front lawn and the president has turned down our request for a quaking aspen because "they bend over under snow." I strongly dislike red leaved trees but she wants to put one in to "add some color." I don't complain because I don't want the job and they have what it takes to enforce the rules. Moan and groan.

Rake King  Give people power, and like our Congress, they can't resist creating new rules....like we don't have enough rules already.

Gerty  Excuse me! What could you possibly mean by "...they have what it takes to enforce the rules." ?

The hair-raise on my back is not directed towards you, MissStraitpath.

Straitpath  Well in our neighborhoods we all go to the same church and so when Sister Smith has a dog twice the size allowed and we are all one big happy church family, how can we possibly make Sister Smith give up her baby? Or how can we enforce zoning laws and kick poor Widow Dudley out of her illegal apartment? . That's what I mean by they have what it takes to enforce the rules. They are not wishy washy people and they enforce the rules even though half the people are always mad at them.

Straitpath posted on Blessings  We have probably all heard about the great effects one gets from writing down three blessings at the end of each day. I would like to use the blessing wall for just that. My greatest blessings as usual are family, God and country.

Surfhut  This is so good. While I don't write them down, I give thanks for those 3 blessings each day. Think I'll start writing those down, along with 3 extra blessings per day.

Extra blessings today:
My little car and I made the long commute safely.
God gave us the wisdom to create antibiotics (sinus infection dealt with ).
My best friend Karen, after brain surgery and radiation for malignant tumors, is healthy and actually drove a car on her own. She's healed.

Linder  Have never heard of writing down three blessings... I'm going to start doing the 3 givens plus the 3 extras. Today's are:

Eight girls from our graduating class 51 yrs ago made it to our bi-monthly lunch meeting.
Enjoyed a needed beautiful sun filled day.
After finding my 99 yr old mother in a confused state at the nursing home, she suddenly realized who I was, asked about Gramps and said how much she enjoyed his visits.

Good plan, Straitpath.

Straitpath posted on Main Page The Lobby  Some of you may be interested in the story of Yeah Samake, a Mormon who is running for president of Mali. He is a very good man and is going up against jihadists who are trying to control Mali and other African countries. It is an interesting story if you want to google his name.

Straitpath posted on Pet Peeves  Increased taxes are hitting us way hard. We have to pay estimated taxes every quarter and they have increased a lot. We are starting to look at everything we buy twice to see if it is worth the expense. Gas is really an expense. Moan and groan.
