StormCnter  I'd never heard of a sous vide until I saw this post and then checked them out. How interesting! But I have run out of counter and cabinet space for additional appliances. As for the Instapot, it was a very popular Christmas gift in this widespread family last year. Everyone seems to have gotten one except me. The all seem to love it.

Flaming Sword  I love them both. Sous vide? I can never again eat pork or chicken breasts any other way. Completely cooked, but soo moist and tender. And I love my Instant pot. Last night I had Italian sausages, homemade mashed potatoes and brussels sprouts. I realized when I was done I had only used one pot. The stainless liner.

Escaped commieny  Hi Flaming, OT, I guess, but I passed along your referral for ReStockIt.com, I have been very happy with their service. That, and I can't find your picture of the monster Tomato plants in your earthboxes. I think it got left on the old PC that is on DH's desk. I have him home for a bit, during my treatments, and he has his first experience with my slowcooker. He is a master of cooking from scratch and chemically balancing spices, drives me nuts, so this was a big step for him to just throw everything into a crock.

Flaming Sword posted on Recipes  Please look at this comment I found while looking for chicken gizzard recipes on a recipe site. . And with her IQ she’s breeding. She has kids. Scared yet?

December 9, 2010
I saw gizzards at the market and thought who would eat those things! then I saw this recipe and figured I would give it a try. they are excellent! crispy and tangy and much better than greasy chicken wings. my hubby Chunky Fred ate most of the bowl before the kids could even get to them. now that I know how to make them I am going to try beef gizzards and use the same recipe. thanks

Hi, I am new to the site but have been reading for years. No I am not scared. Evidently someone has not educated her on farm animals and perhaps she doesn't even know milk comes from cows.
maybe her kids are young or even old. That is not the point. Listen or watch Watters World on O'Reilly and learn what college educated kids know. They do scare me.

Flaming Sword posted on Main Page The Lobby  If you are prone to power failures, try this on Amazon. I have one, will be ordering another or two.Rechargable. Touch it to change brightness, 3 levels. Even has a wrist strap hidden underneath if you need to walk the dog or go outside. Says it's good for outdoors (hang it in a tree? ) never tried that. I use it when I need to get under the mess of cords under my desk, the back of the pantry, and once in a power failure. Amazingly bright. Less than 20Bucks. Recharge it,no bulbs or batteries to replace.. Says it's good for at least 5 hrs if set on the bright setting. It weighs nothing. Once charged, it's there when the lights go out. A very good item.

Flaming Sword  It looks a lot like an electric pressure cooker, which it is.
It's also a slow cooker, low-med and high, just like the one you have. It's a rice cooker. It's a steamer. It's a yoghurt maker. It's killer easy to use. It comes to pressure, starts cooking and goes to a warm for up to 10 hours when it's done. You can program when it starts. Stainless steel pot insert, no teflon or heavy ceramic pot like your crock pot. (OK for people with birds ) Here's the goodie that puts it over the top. Saute-low,high,you name it. Brown your meat or whatever, toss in the rest of your ingredients, push the button and walk away. When it hits pressure,(or you can change it to slow cooker mode ) it will beep to advise, and start cooking. When it's done, it will stop and go to warm mode.It will beep to advise then too. Every automatic mode can be changed to suit you. I've put 3 crockpots and a rice cooker in a box for charity. I've had it a few weeks and I don't think I've used anything else. About an hour ago I just finished a killer cheesecake in it. I love thick lima bean soup with hamhocks. My favorite comfort food. Dried unsoaked limas, start to finish yesterday, including time for pressure to release. 40 miniutes. 30 minutes cooking time.

BirdsNest  FS, you have just cause me to burst into tears. I googled the pot, it looks amazing! I have not cooked anything since Hagar went into the hospital, I just haven't had the interest in cooking for myself. I am gobsmacked over your generosity. What a kind and generous thing to do. Thank you.

BirdsNest  The Instant Pot is a gorgeous piece of steel. Stainless steel insert to cook in. I am so impressed with the look of it.....and the recipes that you can search online for-which one to make first?? I am limited in what I can make. I don't have any meat except frozen and I thought I would make a pot of beans first. Pintos. I haven't had any real taste for meat recently so I think I will wait til I find that recipe that jumps out and says "make me!!". I am curious about the cheesecake though. Is it made in a special dish or pan or what?? I have made cheesecake in the slow cooker before-used half pint jars for that recipe. They were alright but I prefer baked. Maybe the IP will be a different outcome. Thanks Flaming Sword, it is magnificent.

You can't take it with you. We all know that . Why are the Clintons so hell-bent on getting more money? They aren't going to live long enough to spend what MILLIONS they've already stolen.

Serious question. What could their thinking be? What is their reasoning?

MeiDei  The cost of maintaining their safety via Secret Service protection is galling considering they could well afford to hire private security. I hope the next president rescinds 0's lifetime protection - 10 years is more than enough once leaving office, especially if the president is under 55 years of age (think 30 years expense to the taxpayers x multiple presidents ).

FlatCityGirl  It's a game. They are in competition with any number of people.

The name of the game: He who dies with the most money wins.

Power may play a part [except for her being president, they really already have all the power they can use], but mostly it's just a game.

   Flaming Sword  Balo,
You said you're a bread baker too. Love it. Please let's swap really good bread recipes.. I'm a bread baking junkie.

I have a new recipe for Butterhorn rolls overnighting in the fridge right now. And a few days ago I FINALLY made a 100 percent whole wheat loaf that was not only edible, but tasty, and the 2 lb loaf did not weigh 6 lbs when finished.

Crap, that only took 15 years to get right. Let's swap recipes..please please please?

I have one for a Sicilian semolina/sesame loaf shaped into a gorgeous configuration. It takes 3 days to make, but you'll cry when you eat it. And co-workers will assault you in the parking lot for the recipe. Wanna swap????

Any others wanna pop in?

Balogreene  A Discover Card Moment.I have one. I couldn't seem to get ahead. I'd pay more than the minimum, and still make no headway. A couple of weeks ago I got an email saying they'd disallowed a charge. I called and said I hadn't used my card for years. The rep checked and told me the charge was $64 for Identity protection. I told her that was stupid, I'd never signed up for it. I have Lifelock for $10 a month, why would I pay that much?

They checked, and agreed I'd never signed up for it. They gave me over $3,000 back.
