Gram77 posted on Main Page The Lobby  The Olympic opening ceremonies were great. Any one else watch?

MeiDei  Yes! I'm impressed by the artful use of, what must have been, thousands of lighted drones.

The Winter Olympics are my favorite. Must watch events are: the ski jumps, luge, bobsleds, snow boards & figure skating with biathlon (ski/archery ) coming in as nice to see w/some downhill skiing (moguls, etc. ) rounding out the viewing.

Gram77  The only sport I don't watch is Curling but it sure is big in Canada. I like you was particular impressed with the drones.

Tulsa  No! I watched The Odd Life of Timothy Green and a rerun of the Beeb version of Antiques Roadshow. It was in Liverpool and held at the most amazing Catholic church, which is a work of art! The stained glass the carved stone made to roll in front of the Tomb of Christ. Just glorious. Uber modern above and brick tunnels and rooms below.

If it's not nfl everynight, it's Frosty or It's a Wonderful Life for the zillionth time. I prefer regular programming. It's as if the nets see how far from regular/normal they can go. With the o's there is little to watch for 3 weeks. So I've been preparing by recording shows. ...those and HGTV and DIY will do very nicely.

It's lovely there is something for everyone, isn't it.

Gram77 posted on Movies & Reviews  Hi All......No TV to make me happy on the regular channels, so I went poking buttons and found a channel simply called THIS out of Tampa Bay. I saw The Kentuckians with Burt Lancaster, Chains of Gold with Travolta, Company Business with Hackman and of all people Barishnikoff in a spy story, Terror On Track 9 with Richard Chrenna and ( hope you recognize the person because the spelling willbe goofy ) Swoozi Kurtz and finally The Harvey Girls on TCM. Made for a pretty good day.

StormCnter  Gram, did you know Swoosie Kurtz is named for the plane her father flew in the War, "The Swoose" (half swan, half goose, Boeing bomber ) ?

Gram77 posted on Suggested Reading  Went to the library to get on the wait list for Fire and Fury. I am #128. Better news for the David K. Johnston book. It is on the next order due in for the library and I am #1 for that one. That is the one I am the most interested in.

Gram77 posted on Main Page The Lobby  Curses! My computer has been impossible for several days. I just get it and running and then it's nuts again. Being that my computer IQ is sadly inadequate I needed my computer guy who is a doll. Did not charge me for 2 of the calls. I sure hope I am now ready to get busy.

StormCnter  I'm sorry, Gram. Computer trouble is the pits and it's great to have someone to call on when needed. I'm sure you're all fixed now.

Gram77 posted on Movies & Reviews  Just wondering.....I ran across a really really idiotic movie. Don't remember the exact title, something like We Are The Sullivens, any way, Jennifer Anisten was in it and my question is why does she accept such idiotic parts? She isn't the greatest but certainly she not the worst. Poor decisions by her or poor decisions by her manager.

StormCnter  I agree, Gram, but she's not alone. Big male stars have followed the money too often, also. Just look at the junk Michael Caine has participated in.

Gram77 posted on Movies & Reviews  Got lucky last night. FX showed The Martian. And, early last week, TCM carried A Man In The Wilderness. Saw it years ago and liked it then too.

StormCnter  Had you seen The Martian? I know you and I read the book.
And John Huston and Richard Harris in "Wilderness", what more could any movie lover want?

Richdet  As for "Wilderness," I would also give a shout out to the wonderful Henry Wilcoxon who played the Indian chief. Henry W had a long history in movies, specifically a long association with Cecil B. DeMille. I read just recently that he was devoted to his older brother, who died at Dunkirk.

Gram77  The Martian was at one of our $2.50 movies and I missed it. Wasn't going to pay full price, I did read the book and really liked it. Seems somewhere in my shaky memory the author of The Martian has a new book out. Do I remember that right, all you readers?

StormCnter  You do remember it right. The new book is "Artemis". I bought it, began it and abandoned it very quickly.
