Gram77 posted on Main Page The Lobby  My humble apologies for any remarks I have made about the Hurricane Irma and my 5 days of no power. I watched lots of hours covering Puerto Rico and Mexico. That is truly a tragedy and I need to remember that.
Yesterday at 19:47 EST .

HopeandGlory  Gram, you've been through a lot of stress with Irma, wondering if you'd have a home to come back to . . . so, no apologies necessary.
Yesterday at 22:12 EST .

StormCnter  I agree with Hope. I would do plenty of complaining if I were without power for even a few hours. Let's join in prayer for those who are facing such awful hardships now with the quakes, hurricanes, flooding along our own coasts, in the Caribbean and in Mexico.
Yesterday at 05:46 EST .

MeiDei  There's always someone worse off than we are & there's nothing wrong with recognizing your own loss - it's yours. God gives us only what He knows we can handle, sometimes it takes us a while to see & accept that. I'm sure we're joined in prayer for those you've mentioned & in the future for others.

MeiDei  What I meant to say was - God graciously answered our prayers for you, let us trust Him to guide & protect those in Mexico and the Atlantic islands & coastal areas as well, & comfort those less fortunate.

Gram77 posted on Main Page The Lobby  It takes all kinds to make our world. Our park has a branch post office here and I was picking up my mail when I over heard a super obnoxious snow bird spouting off to any one who would listen that we did not have a hurricane. I scrammed while I could still keep my mouth shut and headed home. Wonder how he explains the mobile homes here that have been seriously damaged?

Gram77 posted on Suggested Reading  Being shut in a motel room for days moves one to read. So, I read the Orphan Train and I really liked it. I was very curious as to see how the author would end the book. I personally thought she did a good job, especially with the visit to the museum. Can't wait for other opinions.

StormCnter  I also liked the Orphan Train, Gram. And I know what you mean about being stuck in a motel room. Books come in handy.

Gram77 posted on Main Page The Lobby  Hi All! Came home to a whole house. For Hubby and I, the toughest part was dealing with no power for 5 days, especially the sleeping. When we saw those homes in our park that did not escape damage we were very sad. Makes one wonder why we sustained no damage and others close to us did. Most of the damage is at homes of owners who are snow birds. That can't be easy. Well, it's good to be home and listen mother nature.....this is enough!

Safetydude  Home safe and sound after leaving on Sunday. only one big hiccup; after passing through PC Beach I headed east to
intercept I-75. Big mistake; no gas. I made it to Wildwood and that was it. I had to stay there Monday night and was able to fill up around ten the next morning. There was gas but no power. Once I filled up it was an easy ride into North Port.
There was minimal damage to our community and , best of all, none to our home.
Thank you all for your concern and thoughts.

Gram77 posted on Main Page The Lobby  Never dull this time of year in Florida. Pretty good size hurricane in the Atlantic and this time it's the east coast preparing. Hubby and I are on the Gulf side of the state but given the tracks so far we for sure will get pretty wet if nothing else. Our park is in an A Flood Zone which always makes things interesting. The weather guys tell us they will have more and better info by Friday. We shall see.

Gram77  Thanks a bunch. This particular area of Florida gets ready some times and we get lucky with only windy downpours. I haven't been this concerned for all of us since Andrew. Hubby and I are ready to leave if necessary. I think tomorrow will be the last I check out the movie site. Got my boots ready. : )

Gram77 posted on Veterans' Page & Militaria  I guess my question belongs here. I was in the waiting room at my family doctor and I overheard one man say to another that TriCare is going to start charging for certain medical visits instead if covering everything. Any one know anything about this?
September 2 at 14:40 EST .

GO3  Haven't heard this except that if your primary care provider is a civilian doc then you'll always have a co-pay. I would also take everything heard in the waiting room or at the corner bar, etc. with a grain of salt. Always go to your regional Tricare website and start there to get answers to this kind of scuttlebutt. Also, if you are 65 or over you need to enroll in Medicare to get Tricare for Life benefits. Not sure if that's what he's talking about. I'm not being cruel here, but I've found no shortage of those complaining about benefits being taken away as a way of life to roil the waters. Maybe some of it was/is true; most wasn't.
