Lucky4 posted on Main Page The Lobby  Finally found an adblocker that is working on Lucianne. I tried everything for months to get the adblockers to work again on Lucianne. It is so strange how the ads started showing up all the time and on every visit. I tested all my extensions. I thought I figured it out but the ads came back. (They are such gross and ugly ads too ) Feet, pimples, fat, and distorted faces... yuck.
Simply Block Ads! on Chrome works great. Such a relief.

Lucky4  I closed the screen and went back and all the ads are there. This is literally the only website online I have this problem with. I have never seen anything like this before.

Tulsa  We have solutions to remove ads permanently for Windows using Firefox. And for Windows using IE for each visit. Using IE steps must be repeated each time if I understood Mildred correctly(poster using IE ). Pls see info posted on the Computers and Tech Issues Wall.

I can't help on Macs, which I think? you may be using bc we don't have 'extensions' in Windows. We have add-ons.

My pc is set to erace browser cashe when I exit the web. That how-to info is posted many pages back. I'll go look and be back.

BTW ..part of the ads here say Lucianne and many say google. Google is Chrome I believe and I do not like or trust either.

Tulsa  'I searched 'How do I clear browser cache on a Mac?' I used DuckDuckGo search engine. Search engines are very smart. Ask it anything.'

Tulsa  One more suggestion. If you click the ABP icon then click 'Report Issues on this Page', ABP software will tell you if you have the wrong 'list(s )'(filters ) downloaded. Too many or too few and ABP will not work correctly.

ABP will ask you if you want it corrected. Click yes. Then refresh the page and see if the ads disappear. Mine didn't. I had to right click ON each one ...follow directions I gave on Computer and Tech Wall.

Best wishes.

Lucky44  I did that already and still finding the ad blockers not working. So strange.

Tulsa  Try this. Search 'How to get rid of ads on a Mac?' or whatever device you are using. Or 'How to get rid of ads in google chrome?' or whatever you're using.

I use DuckDuckGo search engine. It doesn't track.

I searched that way and found multiple instructions with pictures. after page of instructions. Dood or Doodette!, call a tech! I would have already done that by now.

Or do some research at Cnet and learn how to surf ad free; tracking free.

You have to remember google is in the ad business and the tracking business. They pay people to put ads all over the web. the middle of threads where they make zero sense.

Facebook and Macs ...track, anticipate and sell baby sell. I don't want what they're pushing.

Here I am on a Dell pc desktop in Win. 7 and I have no ads, no sound, no tracking, no history kept, no passwords kept, etc.

I have no idea what we'll be forced 'into' if Win. 10 is our only option. We don't want it. If we wanted tiles and ads and apps we'd have macs already.

I sincerely wish you the best.

   Lucky44  I am on Dell Windows 7.
I added 3 other ad blockers and it is working about half the time. Very strange.

Tulsa  Lucky44...first, I'm not a pc guru. I search for answers and try them. You can do that too and be successful. Just try. When we buy new pcs (lap or desk tops ) I watch the tech and I ask questions.

Mildred(poster here who uses IE ) has ads at Lucianne and must continue to remove them. I use Firefox. I read how to delete them and only deleted them once and haven't had ads since.

I read recently the thinking that if one virus protection is good, then 3 or 4 are fantastic. Not true. They fight and thus leave holes making a pc more vulnerable, not less.

It's possible that 3 ad blockers plus ABP may be the same situation, ie., not good.

Save yourself and use a non invasive browser, ie., Firefox. Google and Chrome are not your friends imo. An educated guess tells me the problem is your browser, not ABP.

And pls, I'm begging you, call a tech. Pay for a house call or take it to the Geek Squad at Best Buy and leave it with them until it's repaired. Get it fixed and have them explain the problem so it doesn't happen again.

Sincere best wishes.

Lonestar Jack  Use Aviator and DuckDuckGo for faster browsing with no ads or tracking!!!.
I was in the computer business since 1955 before I retired.
I have been using Aviator for 5 years on all the heavy ad sites and if I need to see the images I switch to Firefox, and nearly always us DuckDuckGo for searches.

Read what others are saying.

Lucky4 posted on Main Page The Lobby  I am a web designer and web person and Lucianne can find a better like system. You could use something other than that one set up you have been using with the like button. There are many other options available out there for more control. I miss the like button too. I hope you will ask your website person to find a better system for the site.

FlatCityGirl  I don't have any problem with the "Like" function. It doesn't make us Facebook. There is nothing wrong with letting fellow posters know that they are not alone in their thinking.

MeiDei  I like the "Daily Mail" system of up & down arrows that register immediately without reloading the page - and - you can only use it once. There's nothing wrong with having your thoughts validated - especially when you wonder if you're a lone voice.
