Tulsa posted on Main Page The Lobby  In Win. 10, with ABP installed (semi useless for some time now ) in FireFox, clicking 'refresh' on the Lucianne homepage no longer removes ads.

The Edge browser in Win. 10 does block all ads, for now.

Mildred  Hi Tulsa: Decided to check in with Lucianne/Connection (after many months of avoiding the site because of the objectionable ads )and saw your comments. I've been using FireFox with Win 7 and ABP per your suggestion several months ago. I still prefer IE 11 for most browsing but installed FireFox for Lucianne and have not had any problems with ads here. I don't know what I'll do when Win 7 becomes obsolete. I tried Win 10 when it first appeared and hated it! At this point I may take my daughter's suggestion and get a MAC. Thanks for all your help with the 'stuff' that makes using a computer a challenge.

Kono  As an occasional lurker, occasional participant, I always saw this site as (a ) a tribute to Joshua, and (b ) a place where we could both bring up topics not directly stemming from a recent news story, and converse about them.
Recently (for lack of a better purpose, perhaps ) it's become a sort of tech support for people who want to escape advertiser oppression.
I can't help wondering if Ldotters got so divided over Trump that there just isn't a sense of community anymore. (Or maybe the hostile divide is over our brother Jonah's controversial turn a year ago... )

Clipped wings  Kono, I have wondered why a lot of the tech issues aren't in the computer and tech "room".
Secondly,I used to visit a lot and post comments sometimes. Got the feeling I was unwelcome. The conversations seemed to grow stale.

Jerico  I am running wind and using fireffox. I find that it helps to turn off images. Doesn't take so long to load. Of course, it only works if you don't care about most of the pics!

Escaped commieny  Clipped you are welcome, but many left irritated by posters unable to use the appropriate walls and dumping in the lobby. Plus we lost the ability to check for 'latest posts' and people just don't have time to scroll through old posts to check for new comments. The Klatch was added for the 'around the water cooler' office chatter. You have a good point about people being divided by demon's regime, for instance, no one dared post to the 2nd amendment wall. Then we had some really great posters banned, for reasons that remain unknown. The prayer warriors rarely show up now, thank goodness for emails to keep in touch with the many that no longer post. And yes to Gram's mention of 'sickness & distress' , it was a bad year for losses of spouses and dire diagnosis given to many.

Tulsa posted on Computers &Tech Issues  Windows 10 just had a very large update. Their browser Edge blocks ads on the Lucianne home page. MS has finally done one thing right. How long it lasts is anyone's guess. This doesn't make up for the previous year+ of pushing 10 and the ads and a list of other petty money grubbing things. I do have ABP installed on Edge, but we all know ABP has been paid off to show some ads. APB still blocks ads that blink and flash, etc. I can also remove ads in Firefox with ABP by clicking refresh on the homepage.

Found the above list. Pls let everyone know if any of these work. Give basic info as to what you are using, like Firefox and Win 10 for example. Thx.

Gram77  I am watching The Son. Hubby says he finds it too disconnected. I am not a fan of movies/books that are done in flash back but am sticking with it. I like the cast.

And yes, Tulsa, made for tv movies count. We post quizzes about them all the time.

StormCnter  Tulsa, it's very distracting if an accent is bad. The worst Southern accents in my movie experience were Brando's in "Sayonara" and Elvis Presley (who had a real Southern accent but apparently had been overcoached ) in "Love Me Tender" ("But ah luuuv her, Va-yance" )

Tulsa posted on Main Page The Lobby  Storm, to use FF again:

I had two problems with FF. The instructions below stop FF asking your location. Go to this link:

https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/geolocation/

Scroll down to' How do I turn off Location-Aware browsing permanently?' Click and follow the directions. It's short and sweet...easy peasy.

____________

The first set of instructions I posted was for another problem. ... the one that involved typing %7C in the homepage slot in Internet options....I confused my notes and I apologize to you and everyone else.

Tulsa posted on Main Page The Lobby  Storm, the correct way to stop location warnings by FF and use that browser again is below under the comment from Mike in PHX.

Also you were mentioned on the Computer wall about MS updates. I haven't seen you here recently, so I answered for you. Pls make certain I stated your words correctly.

Tulsa posted on Main Page The Lobby  In Firefox with ABP installed, click refresh and the ads disappear. If I leave and return, the ads return. Click refresh and they are gone. I have no idea what is going on....but I did report the problem to ABP once.

I posted on the main page on an article about chrome adding adblocker and on the Computers wall, but know more will see this info here.

Tulsa posted on Computers &Tech Issues  I just saw the comments about ads returned to the homepage. Here is the org. instruction to get rid of them:

Place your cursor on any ad at Lucianne and right click. When the box comes up click Adblock 'image'. Then another box comes up that is pre checked, click 'add' to lists and the ad should be gone. Repeat on all ads. If you have bars left from under ads, right click on the bar and repeat as above (adblock ‘bar' ). Another box comes up that is pre checked, click ‘add’ to lists and the bar will disappear. Repeat on all bars.

I've reported the issue to ABP. If I click 'refresh', the ads disappear. I may have to hit refresh every time I return to Lucianne...don't know yet. They are disgusting, I agree.

Tulsa  I went from here to Lucianne and the ads reappeared. I clicked 'refresh' and they disappeared.

I have no idea what is going on....why they are back. I know there is a big fight between ad blockers and advertisers. I don't know if Lucianne even knows they are there. It depends on the browser used, settings...several things.

All I know is I hate ads and telemarketers. I record everything I watch on tv and fast forward thru ads. I'm a big girl. I know where to buy things. I don't need pushy ads. They are actually turning people off, not enticing people to buy.

Tulsa  I found this note yesterday and realized I gave other directions to stop the FF share your location message. I have done both the above and the other info I shared to this pc.

Also Att only provided some of the info needed to block unwanted calls. Immediately after an unwanted call, press *61 THEN turn on the phone (we have a cordless phone with a landline ). You will hear 3 short tones, then a delay (so wait! ), then a message the number has been blocked.

Att's site directions mixes directions for blocking on the cordless phone with on line site blocking. Not helpful at all.

Anonymous calls may be blocked by pressing *77, turn the phone one and wait for a message.

Tulsa  It's *61#, but att did not tell anyone that. It's also *77# and that is one time only for anonymous calls. The *61# is after every call to be blocked.

Tulsa  I know Mei..you said, but Win. 7 is going to konk out completely....so when you replace your pc and you have FF again, you'll have the info. Make yourself a note and save it. ...cause I could fall asleep in Jesus any time.

One of the first things I did when I was saved was pray for patience. I had to beg the Lord to take it back. He's worn me down more slowly since...and it's been far less painful.

I was up on the Mountain and thought I was bulletproof. And I never wanted to come down. No one can stay up there I learned and the fruit grows in the valley. I'll be learning till I fall asleep in Him. ...and no I'm not ill, I just don't know His plans for me. I have no idea why I said that....maybe it's reading the faith wall and learning so many are ill. My prayers for each of them.
