Tulsa posted on Computers &Tech Issues  Kono, I download Brave a year + ago. My screen looks very different than what you describe. I don't have 3 dots. I don't have a payment ? tab anything like it. I was getting a make Brave your default browser when I opened it and I clicked on the on/off icon and deleted that little window.

It does seem when I first downloaded there was a payment option tab at the top. I think I right clicked and deleted it.

I can not think of anything else to help at the moment. I wish you no problems fine tuning this browser. It's an easy one, even for me. Long may be browse ad free!

Tulsa posted on Main Page The Lobby  Kono, how to find poster comments. Click on the poster moniker (underlined in blue ). It is hot. It will show all comments and responses. That's the only way I know to search at The Connection.

Kono  Thanks for the response and effort to help, Tulsa. That works great if there happens to be a comment from that user at-hand.

For what was initially presented as a place where Ldotters could chat (sort of a salon/saloon for conservatives as an alternative for the liberal wasteland of fakebook ), it seems weird that this doesn't even have as much search capability as the mother site does...

Tulsa  I understand the problem. It helps if you have some idea on which wall the Ldotter you seek comments. Then with a little patience, click next page and go back one page at a time until you find that Ldotter. If it's important you find them, that's my only suggestion. If anyone else has another suggestion, I am always and forever happy to learn.

Kono, there are so many walls and there are so many articles. I know which Ldotters are always found at the Movies & Reviews Wall. They also post at Lucianne and on other walls. But I don't visit many of the walls here.

I hope your search is successful.

Tulsa posted on Movies & Reviews  Has anyone seen Hidden Figures? I want to see that and I want to see Can You See Me Now 2.

Neither is available to 'rent' at DirecTV. We don't have smart TVs, tho they are newish flat screens. My dental hygienist said she bought a smart DVD player which made her unsmart TV smart. She also said I could live stream to our tv if I buy a ? dongle ?lol and sign up with Netflix or one of the others. I am so out of my league concerning these matters. Being severely right brain has its disadvantages, tho I would not wish to be otherwise.

Seeing Helen Hunt below prompted me to look up the ending of Mad About You. character in the show was Murray the dog. Bonk!

Tulsa  Also, Bill Paxton had a new tv series this year that I was enjoying. He was an excellent actor. I never knew his name until he suddenly and sadly died last year. He was honestly liked by fellow actors.

I had not remembered him in any of the movies to which he was credited.

MeiDei  Hold on - it says it's free - but must be a one-time connecting experience because there is a charge for this service...I don't know the amount or if it's worth it. Read the terms of service agreement.

Tulsa  Thank you, Mei. I would probably have to give them a credit card #. It's not the $. It's the safety aspect.

There is another website I found that is supposedly live streaming free, but I must provide my email. It's Vimeo. I searched the web and it is supposedly safe, but who knows.

I think DVD's or DVR or whatever they are and dongles and subscriptions, etc. are not worth 2 movies. If I wait a year or maybe 2 they will be on TV.

Thank you again, Mei. Best wishes to all...stay warm and well.

Tulsa posted on Movies & Reviews  The following info may or may not be of interest.

We have DirecTV, so this info may or may not vary. I recorded 'Love Actually' and enjoyed it thoroughly. Excellent cast and such good music, nicely intertwined stories. It airs another 43 times.

The Quiet Man' in on TCM this evening 7 Central.

I recorded 'The Five Year Engagement'. I don't see it available again, but you have other options to view it, I'm certain.

'Love Actually' was on Spike TV. A commercial last night stated Spike TV becomes Paramount Network on 1/18/18.

Merry Christmas everyone.

Tulsa posted on Main Page The Lobby  No publicity on this item. None. Be advised that both the House and Senate plan to eliminate the personal exemption which is $4,100. For a couple, of course, that is 8,200.

Subtract $8,200 from $24,000 and the deduction is down to $15,900.

Since both houses agree to eliminate this, there will be no discussion to keep the personal deduction unless we all write and raise sand. I doubt there is a lobby for this.

Now we read it here.(link below ) Is a true or a lie? I do not know, but we we have called our Senators' state offices and emailed too.

MeiDei  The personal deduction [single filers] is eliminated but the standard deduction is nearly double what it is currently [from $6000 to $12,000 or approx. $2000 more than what currently is std + prsnl]. For married the standard deduction is approx. $4000. more than current standard + personal deduction. Until we know what the deductions for medical, property taxes, charity, loses, etc. and what constitutes income i.e., earned, unearned, insurance, winnings, etc., it's premature to worry over something that isn't final yet ... 'tho certainly making your concerns known is always a good thing. If you hear back I hope you'll share the info.

Tulsa  Morning Mei. The Personal Exemption was eliminated in both the House and Senate bill, if the above article is true. They are now in conference to reconcile the two bills. Since they are in agreement on this item, it will be eliminated unless many voices are raised. Not worried, but it's now or never time.

Tulsa posted on Main Page The Lobby  Morny. Is everyone aware of NoMoRobo? It's free robo blocking for landlines and I see there is now a app for the apple people. It is $1.99 per device, per month.

We have a landline and a Trac Fone for emergencies.

With NoMoRobo a robo call rings once and is booted. Since those people share info, calls begin to decrease.

The phone is turned off except 9-noon weekdays. Anyone calling receives a busy signal, not the ans. machine. We can call out, but no calls in. The peace and quiet is lovely. That is another huge reason the calls have decreased. Lack of availability.

We have one persistent telemarketer with a block of numbers...only the last digit changes. I let the machine ans and the person hangs up. Must be a slow learner.

Anyone know if Chillijilli learned how to block images? All I can advise is search with a specific question. You will be amazed at the answers on the web.

Tulsa posted on Movies & Reviews  Just fyi. Sorry to step on the wall. BIL had brain surgery Mon at MUSC (Medical University of SC in Charleston ) and we heard from my SIL last night. They are home! ...back in Columbia Wed. Can you believe that? He has 25 staples, but they are to be removed 10/17 and the prognosis is excellent.

Life has settled down here too as of today. We are so very grateful to our dear Lord and for all your prayers. Thank you....thank you.

Not all brain surgeries are equal. It amazes me how medical science progresses at such a fast pace. THANK YOU, Dear God, for giving your wisdom to our medical researchers and doctors and and and!

Tulsa posted on Computers &Tech Issues  To support my two comments that there are no ads, here is a comment from Kono on 8/8.

Kono  Mysteriously, this morning all the ads that made the mother site so ugly for the past week or two are no longer there.

The ad-deployment technique that evaded blocking looked pretty impervious to me, so as much as I'd love to hear that ABP caught up to them with a new detection/filter technique, I'm inclined to guess that LCom staff (maybe even our dear Lucianne, herself ) decreed a back-out of the ad code to the earlier method (that ABP was capable of handling ).

Even if this is just a one-day reprieve, I'm grateful for the freedom to read news without having to mentally block out the visually-disturbing images every page, at least for the moment...

Tulsa posted on Health & Diet  Benefits of sleeping in 100% cotton socks Spring and Summer.

Best cotton socks link below. Cotton is grown in Texas and milled in North Carolina. 100% cotton and stretchy. Best socks I’ve found. SOS stands for Save Our Soil and they are proud of it!

Buster Brown socks are too thin and too tightly woven. Your feet will perspire and they lose all shape in a short period of time.

Maggies Organics are too loosely woven and therefore not warm. They are also bulky.

These socks are for Spring and Summer sleeping....first link site info and all products

buy the socks:

‘Arrow’ down for your size.

For winter, Smart Wool socks are the best. Tuck your Smart Wool socked feet in a warm throw with a heated Bed Buddy for tv viewing. Put a small pet bed under the pc desk with a folded throw then tuck in a heated Bed Buddy while wearing Smart Wool socks.

Because of down comforters (a second one folded at the end of the bed ) no socks are needed for sleeping in the winter
