1653 - Naval Battle off Livorno: Dutch fleet under Johan van Galen defeats the English
1836 - Battle of Refugio: Mexicans capture Texian force

1941 - German Air Raid on Clydebank: After two nights of bombing by 439 German bombers, nearly every building the town is damaged or destroyed, more than 500 were dead, and over 35,000 homeless. Clydebank, Scotland was a major ship building town and it also produced munitions for the Allies. This made it a target for the Luftwaffe. Major industries included the John Brown & Company shipyard, Royal Ordnance Factory Dalmuir and the Singer Corporation factory. Out of 12,000 houses only seven remained undamaged.
