StormCnter  Another in the gallery of actors who have portrayed the person who's been in the news this week.

MeiDei  Frenchman Gerard Depardeau (sp? ) recently changed to Russian citizenship - I recall he played Christopher Columbus; I think we even had a quiz with a picture of him standing among Indians.

StormCnter  The movie was soundly panned and I don't think we heard much more about this actor. Mei knew, though.

Richdet  Depardieu is most honored and respected in Europe, where he seemed a new Brando back in the 70s. Back then French movies had wide distribution here in the States, and he was always a good reason to see one. The one I best recall is "Going Places," where he played a small-time criminal on the lam with his buddy. He got bloated as he grew older (much like Brando ), and it seems the era of "international cinema" that brought him to attention no longer exists. I just checked him out on Wiki -- he is pushing 70 now, and his filmography is certainly thriving, but none of the titles I scanned looked remotely familiar.
