HopeandGlory Praise the Lord! . . . I didn't lose my huge Cedar Elm that shades my front garden. I was so worried after three years of drought that it was a gonna, but glory be it is in full leaf . . . the Lord is good.

Surfhut There is something about the ritual of electing a new Pope, seeing the white smoke coming out of the Chimney, seeing the new Pope make his 1st public appearance that gives me great comfort. My heart sings.
I feel personally close to Pope Francis. Something I've never felt about any Pope. Guess it is because he first greeted the crowd with Buena Serra and asked them to pray for him. Love him for that. I think and hope Almighty God has brought exactly His choice to the papacy.

Daylily I'm one who rarely comments but have been reading Connections since it began; just have to comment on an event this afternoon that brought such joy to my heart. Our small town in north GA had a church choir festival today which featured choirs from six churches and the singers from the university in our town; absolutely beautiful and heart-touching music. Closed with four pieces of music sung by a mass choir - 170 voices. It was truly a blessing for my family to be able to enjoy this.

BirdsNest We have always liked Dennis Miller, even before he came to his senses. He is a bit above the head of many of the population, but we managed to figure him out. He seems to get killed off in movies very quickly though!! Love his humor.

4Justice I didn't get a chance to let folks know but the issue with the thugs threatening our lives (at the request of the landlord ) blew over without incident. We got a reprieve until the 15th of January. So, I need to get a bid on a house soon. It won't close by the 15th, but at least we can say it is in progress. So, thank goodness no violence came to be. Thank you to those who showed concern. Hopefully, we will find a home to buy soon. I guess that is one benefit of California having such a bad economy...I can finally afford to buy a house for the first time in my life. A lot of houses are still ridiculously priced at $700k -$900k. But there are some still under $200K. I will just need to commute a long way. No more 10 minute commute!
