BubbaEuler posted on Main Page The Lobby I'm at my favorite watering hole and someone just commented on the recent Million Dollar Lotto winner here in Texas. If he put in the bank, sans taxes, he'd get less per month from interest than the average Social Security recipient gets from his "deposit". Hmmm?
It's a shame that the roots of weeds grow faster than the roots of evil (money )!?! Pretty poor economy, huh....

BubbaEuler posted on Main Page The Lobby It seems appropriate to quote Winston Churchill: “Want of foresight, unwillingness to act when action would be simple and effective, lack of clear thinking, confusions of counsel, until the emergency comes, until self-preservation strikes its jarring gong – these are the features that constitute the endless repetition of history.”

Ole buzzard The world has few, if any, statesmen like Churchill left. Someone once clarified the difference between a politician and a statesman. A politician think forward to the next election. A statesman thinks forward to the next generation. Look at Washington DC today. I can think of a couple people that I would count as "statesmen", and I can guarantee you that NONE of them is followed by (D ). That is the rat's nest that needs to be cleaned out. That is EXACTLY what Washington is today: a rat's nest. People keep telling me "Wait until November 2012, and we can get our people in there." OK, I'll wait. But if November 2012 goes south on us, we will have no choice but to use the force of arms to put this country back on course to preserve our freedoms. That is my belief.

BubbaEuler posted on Computers &Tech Issues Important! All you Foxfire users who use McAfee: http://news.slashdot.org/story/11/10/05/1358241/firefox-advi ses-users-to-disable-mcafee-plugin
"Mozilla is advising Firefox users to disable McAfee's ScriptScan software, saying that it could cause 'stability or security problems.' ScriptScan, which ships with McAfee's VirusScan antivirus program, is designed to keep Web surfers safe by scanning for any malicious scripting code that might be running in the browser. But according to Mozilla, it has an unintended side-effect: It can cause Firefox to crash ... a lot."

Escaped commieny I think that is why the marxist picked this date for the Day of Rage against financial intitutions and Capitalism. How will Bloomie handle the NY Wall Street riots, or then again maybe the lazy creeps won't show up.

Surfhut Fox & Friends devoted a fairly long segment to this today. I can't remember the name of their guest, but he was terrific. I seriously doubt MSM will acknowledge this day.

BubbaEuler posted on Main Page The Lobby I just finished reading a hardcopy newspaper article in the "Austin American Statesman" by Brian Garr, entitled "Real Ads in a Virtual World". In the article, Garr states that in 1980, B H 0bama was, as a sitting Senator, the first presidential candidate to advertise in a video game through campaign billboards in the racing game "Burnout Paradise"! My immediate reaction was astonishment at the accuracy of the irony in the name of the game and 0bama's pResidency.

Escaped commieny Our nickname for our terrior was "Wookie" because her hair was always in her face, even after grooming. Look up Star Wars and you will see a 'wookie'. Not sure why they call the moocher wookie.

FL Homeschool Mom The things I want to say would get me thrown off the site. What a witch! If that were my daughter, I think I'd have punched that woman. Hopefully, I'd be able to calm down enough to contact security and file charges. In order for that woman to grab that ball, she had to lay her hands on that child. What a cruel person. Hope the internet pays her back with her video going viral.

Surfhut I'm a scrawny, gray haired, middle-aged woman. I promise you that if I had seen that, I would have taken that horrible woman down and done my level best finding that little girl to give the ball back to her. It irritates me that able bodied adults saw this and did nothing. Put me in jail if you want, but I will not sit idly by and watch something like this. I'm little, but I'm gnarly.

Firefox users have targeted by a new scam that tries to load a user's PC with fake antivirus software using a passably convincing version of the Windows Update page.

Ynaught We don't use Firefox, but everytime my husband starts his computer he gets a message that he needs to install some Windows update that I have never heard of and he hasn't gotten around to doing it. I was suspicious before but now I am super-spicious! Thanks, Bubba!

Gram77 This is good to know. I often get a request to update something or other and I'm always warned if I don't I'll in danger of getting a virus. Fortunately I know someone on the Geek Squad at Best Buy who keeps me safe.

Escaped commieny Cap Marine has some good info on the Computer Wall. Ynaught DO NOT let him install. I had that about 2 years ago and wish I had Cap's info then. I had to take mine in to get it cleaned. Now I use Malwarebytes and AVG to catch anything. I like Firefox and have it on the other unit.

Tulunk I was also scammed by this virus. The warning mimics the microsoft colors and logo. Cost me a couple hundred bucks to get my computer restored. One of my sons gave me a tip: When you get anything like this that looks like a anti-virus notice, or any other suspicious item, DO NOT TOUCH THE ad!! Not even to press the x, cancel, or anything else. Instead, drop down to the Start menu and turn the computer off. That will get rid of the nasty item. But the important thing is not to touch the item at all. Once you press "cancel" or "remind me later" it has you, and you are infected.
