Fysammy posted on Main Page The Lobby I have been using Yahoo as my home page for many, many years. I know, I know, Yahoo has a liberal slant on news, but I like that I can create my own priorities,e.g., Headlines, sports, stocks, weather, etc.
Now that they have openly hired an "ardent" Obama supporter as their new CEO, I need to finally cut the ties.
Any suggestions for an informative, multi-faceted home page?

Fysammy posted on Main Page The Lobby Need some help. Had a spirited discussion with a yellow dog liberal about Gingrich's remark about the media protecting Obama. Her position was that the press reported Wright, Ayers and nothing was held back. Of course, we here believe the press handled these issues with kid gloves, but there was a link on Lucianne.com relating to the Obama video been held by the LA Times and they have refused to release. Anybody have that link or know the author? Thanks

MsCharlotteVale During the '08 campaign I read a lot about Bari and his past but none of the damaging parts came from the important branches of MSM. Important pundits (even so-called Republicans ) literally worshipped at his feet. No one cared about that creepy "church" he supposedly attended for 20 years. People who could have told the truth were either paid off, afraid, or they had pixie dust thrown into their eyes by the devil.

Fysammy posted on Main Page The Lobby Here's my question. Iowa has 7 electoral votes, New Hampshire 4 and South Carolina 8. Florida has 27! Why do we think that winning Iowa, New Hampshire is so important??

Rake King The news people say because they are the first 3 and it could show any trends. I think people can change their minds, thus I would be interested in the "last three".

Texastealady RK ~ You nailed it when you said "The news people", though an oxymoron since they don't actually report the news anymore. They (I prefer the ('media' ) only get excited once every four years when they anoint the unelectable Republican candidate by insisting that the 'first three' call the shots. Not in my world! I make my own decision on my own without anyone's advice so why would I, or anyone else care what they think? Another thinly veiled manipulation by the media. Very tiresome...*yawn*

Kono Because those three suffice for the MSM to decide which candidates they want to face each other in the election, and to gather enough spin material to steer voter opinions toward those candidates. The whole thing is like scripting 'reality TV' for them.

Fysammy posted on Main Page The Lobby Hey Folks, we have got to STOP the "in house" bickering between our candidates. Only Newt has voiced his resentment to the MSM's efforts to denigrate our efforts.
Rush said the debates offer a "target rich" scenario that we can utilize to display the differences between our positions and Obama's, not to tear us apart.
Herman Cain's (and others here ) assertions that unless their candidate is the nominee, they will stay home is sophomoric and irresponsible. THAT WOULD BE A TRAGEDY!!!
Vote your individual conscience, but in the end, we must stay united.

Surfhut Conservatives who say they will stay home if their preferred candidate doesn't win the nomination are, I believe, in the minority. I think once this shakes out and we have a nominee, wild horses and broken glass couldn't keep us home on general election day.

Fysammy posted on Main Page The Lobby Just read on Daily Caller that Herman Cain has stated that if Rick Perry is the GOP nominee he cannot support him. I like Cain, but if this is his position, he's done with me. Not supporting our nominee is the same as SUPPORTING OBAMA!

Escaped commieny HE SAID. Today “Today, I could not support Rick Perry as the nominee for a host of reasons,” Cain told CNN’s Wolf Blitzer Wednesday, pointing specifically to Perry’s stance on illegal immigration. “Him being soft on securing the border is one of the reasons,” said Cain. “I feel strongly about the need to secure the border for real, the need to enforce the laws already there, the need to promote the path to citizenship, but more importantly, empower the states to enforce the national federal immigration laws. Because the federal government didn’t do it, can’t do it and never will do it, so that’s the where I think he and I have a difference of opinion.”

Struan Let's not get hung up in semantics. As a competing candidate, I fully understand (and agree ) w/Mr Cain's germane disputation w/Perry's border position. If Perry IS the nominee does anyone really think that Herman Cain would vote for Hussein? Seriously?

Surfhut Of course Cain will support Perry if Perry winds up being the nominee. I especially liked what Cain said about empowering states to enforce federal immigration laws because the federal govt. didn't, can't and never will do it.

Ole buzzard Surfie, I believe that Cain WILL empower the states. He is, first and foremost, a Constitutionalist. If a border state, south or north, wants to secure its border with a foreign country, he will allow it to do so AND will offer Federal aid, as much as he can.

Fysammy Struan, are you not dismayed and aggravated by those (many on the mother site ) who unctiously declare that if Romney, Perry, et al are nominated, they will stay home? I, for one, who shutterd a small business that depended on job growth have a dog in this hunt. I have also lost a large part of my retirement and recently sold a home for less than what I owed. Staying home is NOT an alternative to the patrons of this salon, and, in fact, flies in the face of what we stand for. STOP the circular firing squad (Herman Cain's comments ), defeat Obama at any cost and reset. I am THE Ham Sandwich Republican!!

Nugoddess Okay, I'll be the voice of doom on the Balanced Budget Amendment. I am against it because if the budget is not balanced on any given year, what is to stop Congress from simply raising taxes in order to ''balance the budget''? Judging from past performance, my money is on ''more taxes'' instead of ''cutting expenses.''

Plex Re: raising taxes: Elections. The danger is when only a few pay taxes. But I cannot agree more with the idea that everybody should pay income taxes. 1% for the bottom quartile. Something. There still will be the temptation to tax the rich, but that will wear thin as revenues fall.

Shooter1002 A BBA must come in conjunction with a 2/3 majority of the House of Reps required to raise Federal taxes. Otherwise its useless. They will continue to buy votes with spending and simply raise taxes to pay for it. To answer the question, a BBA is anathema, an impediment to Congressional spenders. How will they expand the EPA, the IRS etc. etc. if they can't borrow to finance them?

Allsogreat From what I can tell about the disagreement between the Republic-rats and the Dum-a-crates is it's really not about spending cuts, or increased taxes...it's more that the Republic-Rats only want to increase the debt ceiling into 2012, that's so it will still be an issue during the next election....the Dum-a-crats want to increase the debt ceiling in to 2013 so that it is NOT an issue in the next election. Our elected criminals still don't get IT....Folks out in the real world want to see the wasteful spending stopped. We have millions of Foreign National drawing social Security (no wonder it's in trouble ). We've had troops in Korea for 50 years (can't they defend themselves yet? ) We've had troop in Europe for 60 plus years, again can't they defend themselves yet? Let bring our troops home, put them on our Southern border and let them spend their salaries on OUR economy. We've had troops in Afghanistan for ten years and we're still no better of then before we started! Congress (spending Trillions of Dollars ) continually involves us in wars that they have no intention of allowing our troops to win?… Like Fysammy said "THERE ARE SOME CHANGES GONNA COME!"
