Jerseygal posted on Main Page The Lobby  Why are there no mug shots of the driver of the car involved in the Venice Beach hit and run? Why is he being referred to as a "person of interest?" What the heck is going on?

Jerseygal posted on FL Homeschool Mom  @FL Homeschool Mom - Made the decision about 10 days ago to homeschool my 13 year old grandson with his mother's help. I have requested the credentials needed (HS diploma ) and am ready to submit my application to the state (NC ) as soon as I have what they need. I have to name the school -- I think that's funny -- but haven't decided on a name yet. I'm thinking "New Hope School." We are registered for a workshop for nubies. I'm scared and excited at the same time. Last night he needed help with a math problem and both mom and I were too tired to research. That scared me a little. Which leads me to: I HATE homework. I think it's the biggest waste of time there is. I HATE projects. The stress involved for both the student and parents is huge. Sometimes I HATE what's being taught: "Our form of government is a democracy." WRONG! I HATE the mock elections with teachers influencing the outcome.

Please give me any input you may have. I respect the intelligence of the people who post here on The Connection.

Jerseygal posted on Main Page The Lobby  I said I felt like I was "tilting at windmills" but then there's this too:

To dream ... the impossible dream ...
To fight ... the unbeatable foe ...
To bear ... with unbearable sorrow ...
To run ... where the brave dare not go ...
To right ... the unrightable wrong ...
To love ... pure and chaste from afar ...
To try ... when your arms are too weary ...
To reach ... the unreachable star ...

This is my quest, to follow that star ...
No matter how hopeless, no matter how far ...
To fight for the right, without question or pause ...
To be willing to march into Hell, for a Heavenly cause ...

And I know if I'll only be true, to this glorious quest,
That my heart will lie will lie peaceful and calm,
when I'm laid to my rest ...
And the world will be better for this:
That one man, scorned and covered with scars,
Still strove, with his last ounce of courage,
To reach ... the unreachable star ..

Shooter1002  Unfortunately, its what the public wants. Its what they pay attention to. Its Jerry Springer on politics.
I get annoyed as well with these panel shows with 3 or 4 guests all trying to yell louder than the other.
If FOX, for example, said ok, each of you take your turn and when its not your turn, shut up, then there would be civil discussions. And probably no ratings.
The public doesn't want to watch Public TV debates! They want political professional wrestling.

Jerseygal posted on Main Page The Lobby  Mark Davis was sitting in for Rush today and had some great quotes from the NY Post about the OWS crowd. A lot of them are coming for free food, cheap drugs, and hooking up. Sounds just like a Tea Party crowd right?

Ynaught  The last Tea Party event I was at was a bit disorganized. The organizers forgot to get porta-potties! But local merchants allowed us to use their facilities. So we bought coffee and ice cream cones and sandwiches from them and everyone was happy. No free food. No drugs, cheap or otherwise unless someone may have needed an aspirin. As for hooking up - maybe later, but I'll never tell!

Evajeanne  Agreed. My nephew has traveled all over the world and has gone to some areas we wish he hadn't. However, when these 3 were snatched in Iran, he told me there was something odd about it. He said there was no possible way they could have "accidentally" stepped over the border into Iran. Unless they were extraordinarily stupid, he said everyone visiting a foreign country where there are problems is made very aware of borders, hostilities, areas off limits.
