MMC posted on Main Page The Lobby  I need some of the common sense LDotters are able to provide in times of need.

This Ebola scares the common sense rifht out of me. I am not a health care provider, bit have enough science bbackground. To understand. The spread of disease.

What are your thoughts on the disease spread?what are you doing in case it gets close to you home? Before I become a total ehack doodle prepper! Help!

MeiDei  See the link to the book Hot Zone posted by Flaming Sword below. Tells about the origin of Ebola & it's "Kissing Cousins" Marburg and AIDS. I'd be much more concerned if it was found to be airborne.

MMC  I have The Hot Zone loaded and ready to read. However, the NBC or some channel photographer said he got Ebola cleaning his car. So, how long does this virus last on inanimate objects? How will it be disposed? And i also heard on Hannity there are only 11 self containe isolatiin beds in this country. This is why I am losing sleep.

MeiDei  Please, don't make yourself sick worrying about something you can't control. The virus is active only if it remains 'wet' - unless it goes airborne (& no one knows if that will happen or when,i.e., out of our control ). Be at peace.

Hammock  I thought it was someone else's car, but I think it had transported an Ebola patient whoever's car it was. We don't know how he cleaned it. I read that cleaning of objects should take place by wiping rather than hosing so as not to spread droplets before they are killed by the bleach or whatever. When I see those pictures of suited health workers being sprayed down it doesn't appear to be a high pressure spray and they keep their masks on.

Linder  What an opportunity the President missed....had he just gone on TV and been honest about the entire situation he could have made big points for himself and Democrat candidates. Many of us are partisan right up to the point of our safety and national security and then we look to our leader. He didn't lead.

Where is the out cry of gang related crimes?
The gang has taken the place of the nuclear family. Until families are encouraged and
Strengthened, we will see increases in violence.

I am working 3 part time jobs trying to maintain hearth and home...

I have reached my limits- not sure what to do- you all have wisdom and I could use some advice.

Escaped commieny  What type of work did he do?, did he enjoy it? What are his hidden talents and interests, what would motivate him to pursue his dream. This is a very depressed and depressing job situation, no doubt about it. But there must be something he loves doing that would get him off the couch. Can he intern or volunteer in a business that interests him ? Get up-take a shower-and go do something that breaks the mold of staying home, it will make contacts and could lead to a paying position. He updated his skills but with the passing of time, he is discouraged and that's understandable but you need to get him out of the house as a first step, just my 2 cents

BirdsNest  I do not know where you live but if it was me I would encourage him to volunteer with Habitat for Humanity, just to get out of the house and put his self back out in the fresh air and with other people. The Habitat group seems to do a great job with their houses, most around here volunteer for half day of work, at least he would be back in contact with other folks. Staying at home on the couch is no way for anyone to exist. Heck even hospitals need volunteers, or senior centers. Light a fire under his butt, tell him to step back into the community. His next job won't find him if he stays at home. I am not trying to be rude but he needs prodding at this point. I wish you both the best of luck.

You all are great- His back ground is commercial real estate- i think he is one of the best analysts with integrity for property valuations...
That is why seeing him sit on the couch is so frustrating! Ok, aside from mounting bills and household needs....

If the cattle prod doest work, fire crackers ? I welcome more input. It is humbling asking for help, and I dont ask often. You guys are the best-

You don't have to be a gas worker, Waiting for a job to come to you is dangerous these days, you have to go where the work is, like the Okies did during the Dust Bowl. As a real estate broker, thousands are moving TO North Dakota. Give it some thought.

What are you going to do help preserve our country?

Demonizing opposition is what Germany did to the Jews during the 1930's and 40's. Republicans,
Conservatives... Anyone who opposes Obama is demonized. In an internet driven society the ability to villify has become so easy...

Where is our Patrick Henry?
Thomas Payne?

Escaped commieny  We must mourn at the grave, not before. We are not dead. Educate and inform the teachable, there are many who have not been exposed to the truth and many still in denial.(We thought Reagan got rid of the communist threat, but it did not die, it put on a tie and infiltrated our education, and media system ) The good news is, they are now over-confident and showing us who they are, we can identify them. The internet is a two edged sword, we can use it too. We are all Patrick Henry, we are not out numbered

Balogreene  Patrick Henry and Thomas Paine did not ask where the leaders were, they stepped up to the plate and became the leaders. They were not afraid to give up their lives for the freedom they held dear. Neither did Ronald Reagan, or Rush Limbaugh. I on the other hand, wish I had that dedication, but I don't. If we cannot have that dedication, we must not question where the leaders are.

MMC posted on Main Page The Lobby  What types of guns were sold in Fast n Furious? What was the magazine capacity?
Were they registered? Were the purchaseres made to wait for three days

I would like Eric Holder to juxtapose this rationale to legal citizens buying guns- which is
A Constitutional right-

How can citizens protect themselves from an enemy that doesnt care about
laws or magazine size capability of guns?

There are so many battles waging against our freedom to govern ourselves. I am afraid of what

Bettijo  MMC, I was thinking of F&F also. Obama is trying to curtail our gun ownership while walking assault weapons to Mexico. I read an article today which pointed out the difference between military weapons and civilian weapons. For instance the AK15(? ) is different from the military version in that citizens have to pull the trigger each time a bullet is released. In the military version you just hold down the trigger and it keeps firing. I think the drug cartels got the military version of automatic weapons. Makes you wonder, doesn't it, why it is ok for criminals to have these guns, but not law abiding citizens. In fact, if they put in any type of gun control, only the criminals will have guns. Is this what they want?

MMC posted on Main Page The Lobby  What makes America great? It is the sheer energy, hard work, and determination on the faces of two teams ready to face each other in a football game. It is the beauty of hearing the National Anthem sung to perfection. It is the roar of cheering fans.. It is the swell of pride at seeing excellence in motion.

Tears come to my eyes watching... And I dont care who wins. Any team or person that fights to achieve a chance to play in a championship are champions.

Rakasha  BirdsNest, a month or two back I had to fill out a form from my auto insurance company letting them know whether I had health insurance or not. I called my agent and he said that the insurance companies are basically putting up borders between their territories. In other words, if I have health insurance, my auto insurance company doesn't want to pay my medical expenses if I get in an accident. I asked him if my auto insurance was likely to go up if I didn't have health insurance and he said that was very likely.

I suspect all of this has to do with obamacare and if you find something similar with yours I would really like to hear about it.
