RoseOfTexas posted on Suggested Reading  Read over Thanksgiving: Jan Karon's latest Mitford/Father Tim: Somewhere Safe With Somebody Good. I love all her books & want to re-read them. Up next: Daniel Silva's The Heist, latest in his Gabriel Allon series. And Mom found an author she likes: Laurien (don't forget the i ) Berenson. Death of a Dog Whisperer...light mystery for dog lovers.

Flaming Sword  Google dog snood. There are gazillions available for sale at any dog show. And they're terribly overpriced. $7-10 bucks each, and that was many years ago when I whipped up 2 dozen for a friend who had Cocker Spaniel show dogs. I honestly made about 2 dozen at my sewing machine in 2 hrs. Or less. I was rooting through my sewing stuff not long ago and found about 7 more I never sent her. I had a Doberman. Droopy ears dragging in the food/water were never a problem.

Flaming Sword  Hey EC, iffin you still gots a droopy eared beagle and iffin I didn't toss those snoods, you want them? As I made them as a gift, they were all made of really cute doggy print fabrics. I can see if I tossed them back into the sewing closet.Honestly I can't remember if I trashed or kept them.

Escaped commieny  Well, Miss Teri went to the Rainbow bridge after a snake got her, but the beaglie and lab are still here with droopy ears. Even the DH has droopy ears, sort of runs in the family a long with a big nose.

RoseOfTexas posted on Suggested Reading  Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty: hadn't heard of this author but read a short description on a bestseller list & thought I would give it a try. Loved it! Wittily written drama takes place in & around an Australian elementary school. Loved so many of the characters & the ending was great.

RoseOfTexas  Gone Girl (coming out as a movie & I'm just now getting around to reading the book ): I didn't like either of the main characters but slogged through this book to the bitter (& disappointing ) end. I didn't exactly enjoy it, but it was a clever concept IMO & I will probably see the movie to see how true to the book it is.

Gram77  Read Gone Girl and when finished felt like tossing it into the street! I think (as so often they do ) the end will be changed for the movie. Just my opinion.

Papasparky  Miss Lindsey will have two sugar lumps in her tea while having tea and scones with Holder . . . How sweet! Makes a feller want to bare!

As for me, I'm with Louie and appalled at his DIS-service and wish him at the bottom of a well with no future or even a rope! Remember the Alamo and Brian Terry.

RoseOfTexas posted on Movies & Reviews  I got your movie review right here! Tonight's Redbox movie (freebie promo code = FRIENDS good today & tomorrow ): Non-Stop, an action movie on a plane. They had me at Liam Neeson (he has a certain set of skills ) & Michelle Dockery (Downton Abbey ). This was a tense thriller that held my attention & my only complaint is the politically correct ending. Another familiar face was the young Congressman who gets in all kinds of trouble from House of Cards.

RoseOfTexas  BTW this review was not meant to root for a "side" here...coincidence that I happened to show up in the middle of this. I love the quizzes & plan to participate again in the future when I get caught up on a few other things. That said, Lone Survivor was my movie tonight. I read the book years ago so I knew the general gist of the plot. I thought it was well done & respectful of our military. It was horrific seeing the injuries they sustained but I think it was important to see this, to know that we have such bravery defending us & what it costs them. The book's author has a few, I wouldn't even call them cameo, appearances, just you see his face in a briefing & maybe on a helicopter for just a second each.
