Cap MarineTet68 I'll go out on a limb and say "Politics," but that's just my opinion. And, like belly-buttons, everybody has one.
January 10 at 23:56 EST .
MsCharlotteVale Yes, politics is the one. Just my belly-button's opinion, of course.

Papasparky Thank you CMT and MCV. Your replies just cleared up a question I've had for nearly three quarters of a century concerning my political leanings.
I just got out the tape measure and discovered my belly button is considerably right of center. Voila!!
Gram77 Ah, Bach...............this rings of a Mash episode.

Stealthy posted on Main Page The Lobby I would like to coin a phrase. "Junk Spending". Where I work I see people everyday buy junk food on the government dime. Fat, stupid people larding up on Twinkies, Ding Dongs, Ho Hos, Zingers, etc paid for by taxpayers. This is Junk Spending by the Government on Junk food. Is Mooch serious or not? Shouldn't she be asked about the junk spending if eating healthy is her issue?

Stealthy BTW~ I think it's a much better descriptive than "ear-marks' as well.
March 11 at 22:41 EST .
OnTheBall Jughead aka Obama is overly sensitive to the issue of 'earmarks' he flinches when folks say that phrase, thinking they are referring to the scrape marks he leaves on either side of Air Force One and Chopper One when he enters or leaves them!

Angelesgift Good phrase. I see junk spending all the time at the town convenience store - always paid with the EBT card, and always with fat little kids in tow. I observe this with sadness. It's almost as if people think "free" money should be spent foolishly.

Stealthy posted on Main Page The Lobby Moving to Colorado soon thanks to the economy,Littleton area. Looking to buy a home there. Any advise? Know of a good real estate agent or why I should avoid them? I want no covenants that I know. What schools are good?

Jerseytomato You can always use a Real Estate agent, however, you can shop effectively on your own, first.
Check out Realtytrac.com All bank owned properties, as well as foreclosures, probates, etc., are listed. You can find out the amount foreclosed upon. That info provides leverage when negotiating, as most real estate agents won't disclose the foreclosure or pre-foreclosure status. Simply go to the website, and type in the zip code of interest. I think zillow or zillows does the same thing. They even provide current comps, too. Happy shopping!

DONAL Check out Green Mountain (suburb to the west next to mountains). I grew up there and it's gorgeous now--the trees finally grew out. I'd recommend the schools, but that was then and this is now. You'd have to check them out; surely they've changed since I grad from HS in 76'. It doesn't have much crime even now... mostly white/well-educated asians, second generation Hispanics, and Catholic/Mormon/non-denom middle class/upper-middle class. My addy is on my profile if you want more info on Denver--I know it well--it's my hometown (I live in Seattle now).

OnTheBall Stealthy find out what towns or counties have LAWS AGAINST BURNING WOOD in your own fireplace or having a BBQ! Some of the lunatic LEFTISTS in Colorado are like the envirowhackjobs in NYCity outlawing all smoking everywhere now, even in city parks! You'll be freezing to death with NO power, but if you start a fire in your fireplace in some parts of Colorado, they'll kick down your door and arrest you!
Reminds me of how U.S. Representative Gabrielle Giffords recently harangued Gen Petraeus and asked him during a committee hearing about what he was doing as commanding officer of the military campaign over in Afghanistan, just WHAT he was doing to curb CARBON EMMISSIONS? WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATTTT????? Men are fighting for their lives over there and dying and that TWIT dared to ask that???
February 8 at 00:47 EST .
Belwhatter OTB - so glad you mentioned that little goody from Ms Giffords - in view of her injury, she has been virtually deified . Reporting this takes nothing away from wishing her a good recovery, but it speaks to the way dems accuse conservatives of what is on their own minds as a deflection. I feel this nullifies completely all the poison directed towards Sarah over the Arizona madman's shootout.

Rake King I find it amazing how little legislators understand about disbursement (not money, but things in the air). For example, second-hand smoke. Indoor the science hold up, but once moved outdoors parts per million become parts per billion in seconds. Same is true for fireplace smoke or Bar B Q, especially in placed where prevailing winds occur (like the Rockies) the so-called polutant can change to parts per trillion. We accept laws to easily, and most often without proof or science...which in my mind must be shown to enact such laws.

Stealthy posted on Main Page The Lobby I would like to see a Conscientious Objector statis for Christians because of DADT.
December 18 at 21:59 EST .
Phooey Don't you mean the repeal of DADT?. I never wanted to know ones sexual orientation when I was in service. It was none of my business. Before, it was if you're gay you will not be allowed in service. Now, it's DADT. If that is repealed it means that one can serve openly gay which would be a disaster.
December 18 at 22:23 EST .
Saguni OH NO!! They can't allow that!! Christianity is now a hate crime.
December 18 at 22:24 EST .
Kono Sorry, 'Phooey' -- they did repeal it today. And they didn't give a damn that the Marines will need to modify their two-to-a-room tradition to accommodate this. The social experiment is more important to them than the good of the troops.
