Prudente posted on Main Page The Lobby After reading about problem with finding a place to bury the Boston Bomber, does anyone know when a prisoner at Gitmo dies, where is he buried? Of course, maybe none have died there.

Prudente posted on Main Page The Lobby Evidently I'm doing something wrong. I'm trying to find how many times Obama vacationed in Hawaii before becoming President. I've tried different wording to no avail. Does anyone know where I can find this info? Thanks.

Prudente posted on Suggested Viewing/Listening Does anyone else enjoy what I call little B movies? Ones that never got much attention, but are little gems. The other day, I downloaded "A Green Journey". Never heard of it before - made in 1990. Angela Lansbury (sp? ) stars. Now this movie is not award winning but very enjoyable and needless to say she was great.Definitely recommended. Another little "B" movie that was very interesting tho somewhat sad, is Lovely, Still (Martin Landau and Ellen Burstyn ). BTW, these are for so called "mature" viewers.

Prudente posted on Politics I've been wondering - evidently from various polls, the majority of Repubs aren't that enthused overall about those running for Pres. They would like "more of a selection". Who would they want included in the current slate that would excite the majority?

Linder I came to this site to ask the same question. Who would the dissatisfied Republicans have on the slate? I believe we have potential candidates in the wings but they were wise enough to know they weren't ready for a presidential run.

Belwhatter The best people aren't running because of the destruction the media inevitably wreaks on their private lives and and personal affairs. No one in their right mind would do this - except people with power hungry complexes - pointed refeence!

Prudente posted on Computers &Tech Issues I use Windows 7 with a pop up blocker. I can't seem to block the audio commercials. Normally I keep my speakers almost off cause I don't like the start up sound, but when I forget I find those audio's irritating. Thanks for any info.

BubbaEuler Go to the "Start" menu; Control Panel; Change System Sounds: Change the Sounds Scheme to "No Sounds" (from the computer system ). This will allow you to NOT HAVE start up sounds, as you've described having. As far as those awful site which automatically start video or audio files when you enter the site, SHAME ON THEM.

Prudente posted on Nostalgia My mind floating - Does anyone remember John Beresford Tipton Jr? Yes, the old Millionaire TV show. That got me to thinking why people of money (Bill Gates, Warren Buffet, etc. ) always seem to give to charities and never to individuals. Charities are good, but, giving a few thousand (or hundreds ) directly to someone you don't know seems like a great idea. Someone could pay off their car, or credit card, pay a months rent, whatever. Is it the tax break that keeps that from happening? Or wanting the praise of giving?

Safetydude Pru, I don't mean to offend... why do people that are wealthy through good investments, the brilliance that allowed them to start companies that employ hundreds, discovering and developing life saving drugs, providing opportunities through foundations, et al, owe to any one individual ? There are millions distributed through charities and foundations. I'm going to stop here.

Prudente My comment disappeared - I agree with you - I didn't make myself clear. If someone is going to give to a charity,(especially if they are making a sizable donation ) why not once in awhile give to an indvidual instead? Pick a name from the phone book.

Surfhut How do you know that wealthy people don't give cash to individuals? I bet they do, but they don't announce their gifts to the media. I am certainly not wealthy. A few years ago, a neighbor had a friend who was down and out, and staying at their house. I really couldn't afford it, but anonymously put $200 in an envelope on the windshield of his car. I heard him screaming praise when he found it in the morning. He didn't know it was from me, but it blessed me. What I want to believe is wealthy people do this, too, but don't want a press report about it.

Rake King Until his death no one knew that Frank Sinatra took care of a blind girl here in St. Louis paying for eye operations, etc. I agree with Surf, they just don't talk about it. Also, remember if they wish their giving to be a secret, in most cases it remains a secret.

Ole buzzard And as I recall, wasn't that one of the stipulations made by the donor in the TV series, that no one was to know the source of the windfall? Frankly, I think those that make a big show of their charity aren't doing it to be charitable, but to shine the light on themselves.

Prudente posted on Main Page The Lobby I've read a few articles about Dems wanting Zero not to run. The latest article dtd 29 Sept quoted Dick Morris saying same (for what that's worth ). I realize that Hillary would be waiting in the wings, but, my question: If Zero decides not to run, could there be more than one candidate running for the Dem nomination? If so would they have to go thru a "primary" process? I assume the Dems would automatically nominate one person that wouldn't have to go thru any process, (except market themselves ).

Struan I find it hard to believe that whoever is running the DNC asylum at the moment would permit a primary challenge to Hussein. That would risk the one mortal lock vote bloc they have - the Black vote. Challenge Obama & risk splitting black voters or even have them stay home? Then you've got the reliable American Jewish DemoBloc (and their substantial campaign contributions ) already in potential jeopardy (though I'll hold my breath waiting for that Bloc to finally vote their own self-interest ). The Demosleaze have a tough choice - take the coming massacre and try to regroup or fracture the old New Deal special interest coalitions & splinter into single issue crazy-train clans. Pass the popcorn, please.

Gerty I don't know. Given recent events and activities of the DNC, it is clear there are much more 'underground' activities going on, controlled by megabucks people. Rush is right--follow the money. The power is for sale!!
