4Justice posted on Main Page The Lobby  Hey folks! It's embarrassing to ask, but does anyone have or know of some private property in the Bay Area (or outlying areas ) in California where I and my husband can rent a space for our 5th wheel trailer to live in? It can just be temporary or long term.

Its a long story, but here are some of the facts...Right after I got laid off my job, my husband [actually we are just good (completely platonic ) friends, but we take care of each other as partners in life] came down with stage 4 prostate cancer that mestasticized and spread into his blood and bones. We only found out about it after he fell and badly fractured his back. That was 17 months ago. Since then, I have been taking care of him 24/7 as he needs full-time help. Anyway, since we only have his Social Security right now (I have been waiting 2 years to find out if I will get disability (if not, I'll find a way to work again ), we are on a fixed income so we have been living in a 5th wheel trailer renting space on private property. At first, it was only supposed to be a temporary arrangement to save money, but everything changed after he got sick and I became more disabled after losing most of the use of my left arm and hand from neck damage.

Recently, without our knowledge, the property went into foreclosure and was sold so we have to move ASAP. I had been looking for a place because I wanted to stay in Santa Clara County for his medical care, but was told by my landlord that his brother would gladly rent to us on his place in Stanislaus County if we wanted. So, I thought we had a sure thing if need be. I kept it as a back up plan. Well, I had no luck here, so we made arrangements to look at the place near Patterson a week and a half ago. Then, suddenly the brother stopped communicating with us at the last minute. He won't answer our calls nor return them. We deduced he changed his mind at the last minute. So now we are in a terrible bind.

When we bought the trailer, we were both healthy and I was working full-time. My husband was working part-time. Since we put it on private property, I didn't bother to reinstate the registration because I was told it just had to be signed off by the sheriff after repair (had a damaged roof that the last owner fixed ). What is I didn't do was due diligence. It was deemed non-repairable ( which I stupidly did not realize was not like a salvage title ). In California, it can never be registered again, even though it really is repaired. So, I cannot register it, and therefore, I cannot take it to a regular RV park. Every one requires current registration and insurance to stay

4Justice  CONTINUED...Anyway, we likely cannot move into an apartment for several reasons--mainly because we don't have the move-in money, we have old medical credit problems (don't worry, we always paid our rent on time, sometimes early, every time for the last 4 years and our landlord will attest to it ), and our three cats. So, if you have any ideas or can help in any way--even if it is simply prayers, it would be greatly appreciated. Just to let you know, he won't go to a hospice. It would kill him and he won't leave his cats. Thank you for reading this and God bless You!

StormCnter  4Justice, all I can offer is prayer and the faith that God watches over you.
We lived in California many years ago for a short period and the state's registration laws even back then were weird. If someone's trailer has been modified or even built from scratch and can be registered, I don't understand how yours cannot.

Escaped commieny  J, do you still have my email ? I have 3 for you. You mentioned that Kevin (RIP ) lived close and he once was a chaperone for Timberqueen, when TimberKing was working, so do you have her email or what about Belwhatter, they are all on your coast, I'm, in FL There are a lot of CA posters on MOTUS that may be able to help.
(See Blogs Luci Loves ) That is where I spend most of my posting time using Disgus, that I call Disgust. I wish we were still in the Family Motor Coach Assoc. they would have contacts, but once in Fl we let the coach go. L

Timber Queen  Although we have the land, its not in the right area. We have 40 acres, but we're in the middle of Mendocino County's coastal mountain range. We are 3 hours north (160 miles ) of SF, and four miles of gravel/dirt road from the highway. Its remoteness and inaccessibility was the reason for purchase. Without a registration you can't tow the trailer, you would have to have it hauled by a flat bed tow. I'm sorry I know no one in the Bay Area. Prayers for you.

Belwhatter  I am sorry to hear of your situation 4Justice and that I cannot offer any solution from up here in the NW corner, other than to empathasize that friends in Brentwood, CA have hit similar accomodation problems due to an enforced early retirement, and seem to depend on house sitting for their friends or on family members. The market has left them behind. Illness brings its own extra problems. Prayer is the one resource we all have, in this case let it be prayer for a practical solution, access to property and health care.

4Justice  Thank you everybody for your responses. L, I lost your email but mine is viewable in my profile now. I also use Disqus on various sites (still using JanineC there ). I'll check out that site.

And yes, prayers are DEFINITELY GREATLY appreciated!!

TQ, lol....I couldn't imagine a big 5th wheel in that situation. : ). Again, thank you for responding.

One good thing...it may or may not work out but I did get one call today in response to my Craigslist post. I am praying it does since it isn't too far from San Jose and sounds like a great set up.

4Justice posted on Main Page The Lobby  I feel terrible that I never got a chance to get back to everyone about my Little One. That is my kitty that had been shot in the arm and his bone was shattered. Well, he completely healed and he still thinks he is a monkey and flies through the trees as if nothing ever happened. I would love to see his x-ray now. I wonder what the bone looks like. It is a real miracle how he mended!! I thank God for saving my Little One. He is a terrific kitty.

So much has happened since then. We sadly had to put our dog if 17 years, Wolfy (Siberian Husky and Wolf mix ) to sleep. And just a couple months ago, we had another little kitty come to stay with us. I had just won her trust a few weeks ago and got her to the vet for antibiotics for an upper respiratory infection. But she got sicker (must have had other issues ) after a couple weeks and it as decided to have her put to sleep--which I regret now. I almost think that it would have been better to have just let her die peacefully in the closet than have traumatized her at the end at the vet's. They couldn't find a vein and put a catheter in her neck. It was horrible. She was a tiny little thing (just 3 lbs ). I really won't ever do that again unless I know for sure the animal is really suffering terribly. I think God would have quietly taken her if I had just left her in the closet. So sad...

Balogreene  So sorry. We recently had to put our greyhound to sleep, it was the most horrific experience ever. Since I've done it peacefully and gently many times, at the same Vet's office, this time I complained. I was traumatized, she was traumatized. I totally understand your feelings, but G-d really does have a purpose, even for teeny kitties who need us to help them get through.

4Justice posted on Main Page The Lobby  Just a short update on Little One. We are trying to see if UC Davis will work with us to repair Little One's leg for the same cost as the vet was going to charge for amputation. Please say a prayer that they will work with us. Here is Little One cuddling with Silver. It is clear he misses flying through the trees but he is exploring all the nooks and crannies of the house right now. I can't stop him from jumping around--even on top of the refrigerator!! He is such a trooper! Love that little guy!!

I also want to say thank you to AnEagle for your kind words and wonderful support! I know you must be part of the L.com family! Thank you everyone for your prayers and support!!! You guys are the best!!

4Justice posted on Main Page The Lobby  As many of you know, I recently had brain surgery and was off work for a few months. Well, when it rains, it pours. I have just been evicted by my slumlord (who had sent that biker to threaten us last December ) because we refused to pay rent until he fixed the house up to code. In the meantime, one of my kitties, Little One was shot by a high-powered pellet gun (I think it was by the Guatemalan guys renting in the back who are in league with the slumlord to get rid of us ). Anyway, we are trying to raise money to get Little One's leg fixed before it has to be amputated. I can't afford either surgery right now. I wouldn't be here today if it hadn't been for someone upstairs looking out for me. Thank you all again. We are making a little progress. I have faith that God will take care of Little One and bring him back to health. Bless you all!!!

Good that the doctor did a tuneup.
Now do you like vegetables?

Man plays guitar during brain operation
http://tinyurl.com/nkwgstc

What musical instrument did you play during yours?

Did the doc play tricks on you during the operation like poke your brain in different spots to see if your left arm goes up or your right foot wiggles? : )

Bob913: How can you write if you haven't got a brain?

4Justice: I don't know... But some people without brains do an awful lot of writing... don't they?

Dorothy er.. Bob913: Yes, I guess you're right.

4Justice posted on Main Page The Lobby  I am so terribly sad today to hear that Kevin is no longer with us. He was such an inspiration and always had great words of wisdom. He will be sadly missed. For so long I had meant to get together with him for coffee since he lived so close to me. But I always got too busy and never got around to it. Now, I deeply regret that I missed out. So often we miss out on the ones we love and care about because we let the little things of everyday life take over and distract us from what is important. Now, I have lost a friend and will never have the opportunity to have a coffee with him and share a few moments because I let the chance go by.

God bless you, Kevin. We will miss you very much. Thank you for everything you gave to us and for your constant vigilence at a time when so many have given up. You were definitely one of a kind and we were blessed to have you in our lives for this short time. Rest in peace, dear friend. We will see you later at the L.com reunion in Heaven. Love, JanineC

4Justice posted on Blessings  I didn't get a chance to let folks know but the issue with the thugs threatening our lives (at the request of the landlord ) blew over without incident. We got a reprieve until the 15th of January. So, I need to get a bid on a house soon. It won't close by the 15th, but at least we can say it is in progress. So, thank goodness no violence came to be. Thank you to those who showed concern. Hopefully, we will find a home to buy soon. I guess that is one benefit of California having such a bad economy...I can finally afford to buy a house for the first time in my life. A lot of houses are still ridiculously priced at $700k -$900k. But there are some still under $200K. I will just need to commute a long way. No more 10 minute commute!
