Angelesgift posted on Main Page The Lobby  The heart-tugging stories of people in dark, freezing shelters puzzle me. Where are their family or friends? I would never dream of letting a friend or relative be in such a pickle. I would sell everything possible if I had to, to go get them and help them get back on their feet! And they would do the same for me. This is beyond belief that so many people have such a dysfunctional extended family or circle of friends that there is no one to help them, and they can only wait for the government to do something. Am I missing something here?

Linder  I thought the same thing. Also thought I'd be hightailing it outta there until conditions improved. However, people are afraid to leave their homes unattended because of theft. And many families' relatives also live in the same area. What they are enduring is unspeakable and where is Obama? Maybe he no longer needs them and the photo ops and he knows he won't be held accountable.

Sweet breed. And HOORAY for you rescuing the little one!
We have always had big dogs labs, retrievers Heinz 57's. The pugs are our first adventure into the "little pup" world. We adore them too.

Rollingcow  We love the little guys around here. We've had large dogs and small ones, but seem to be stuck on Shelties for now. I sat up next to a woman with Yorkies at a dog show once. She opened the door of her RV and about fifteen of them poured out-she had three litters of pups and a couple of oldsters she could leave alone so she brought the whole crew along. I wanted to smuggle one home, but she kept a pretty good eye on them.

Angelesgift posted on Politics  Stephanie Cutter, the attack (female ) dog for the Dems. The one who thinks our embassy being destroyed and our ambassador being raped and murdered along with three others is no big deal, and the Republicans should just shut up already. This being only the latest example of her malicious lunacy.

So, a chicken/egg question. Was this woman a born psycho who joined the Dem party because it fit her vicious nature? Or did she join the Dem party, then realized it fit so well because she is a psycho?

Angelesgift posted on Main Page The Lobby  Fox news has a picture of a protester outside the Supreme Court holding a sign saying: Protect My Health Care, Protect The Law. Apparently this "it's all about me" leftist twit assumes she has a right to demand something someone else will pay for.

Rake King  The problem with this protester is she will next demand housing, then food, then big screen T.V.'s. It never ends when one thinks the "government" should provide cost-free "things". She should have been there when the first pioneers came upon the Rocky Mountains heading West. She might have a little more appreciation for HARD WORK.

sigh this Einstein never could figure out that WE the People are the government.

Angelesgift posted on Jokes  It's tough getting older. During a doctor visit, I asked him how to tell if an older person should be put in an old age home. ''Well,'' he said, ''we fill up a bathtub, then we offer a spoon, a cup, and a bucket to the person to empty it.'' I said that a normal person would use the bucket because it's the biggest. ''No'' he said. ''A normal person would pull the plug. Do you want a bed near the window?''

Angelesgift posted on Dogs, Cats & Critters  Update on my dog (shot by a pellet gun 2 weeks ago today ): He's had bleeding spells several times. He'll be fine a couple of days, then start bleeding again, each time a little less than before. After three trips, the vets concluded that the bullet nicked a blood vessel, but will eventually heal. One vet said that a bullet wound can take weeks (weeks!! ) to heal. No kidding.

A lot of people think shooting a dog with a BB or pellet gun will "teach them a lesson" if the dog is fighting or pooping in their yard. My little fellow was in our fenced yard when he was shot, and probably went up to the shooter to be petted because he's so friendly. Regardless, there is never a justification to shot a pet.

Angelesgift  I don't have a clue who did it. On his second trip to the vet, I stopped at the police station in my small town, and insisted the sheriff come and look at my small dog (crippled with arthritis ) bleeding on my back seat. It probably didn't do much good, but sometimes people need to see the pain so it's not so easy to blow off...

Rollingcow  Poor baby! Give him hugs from me. People buy BB guns for their children without a thought of teaching them responsibility for what is done with it. I'd like to meet who did this, I'd do some creative slapping.

Angelesgift posted on Main Page The Lobby  Just returned from a weekend at a "Yellow Ribbon Army Reserves Family Event" with my niece, who is being deployed soon. Maybe it sound melodramatic, but sometimes I think that our armed forces are not only guardians of our physical safety, but of our national character as well. They absolutely, resolutely still believe in right and wrong; in honor; in character; in responsibility. They unabashedly teach their children these things. It was a weekend in which common sense ruled. How refreshing (and humbling ) to be around these smart, funny, brave, and friendly young men and women.

MsCharlotteVale  It's not at all melodramatic. I have so much respect for people who join our military branches nowadays. Our young people who enlist are the people who used to be the majority of America no matter why they joined. Since we have an all-volunteer military, I have even more respect.

Angelesgift posted on Dogs, Cats & Critters  I'm so mad I could spit fire...Yesterday afternoon, I let one my dogs out for a run, and he came in a few minutes later dripping blood. After I got the bleeding stopped, and examined the wounds in his back leg, it was obviously a couple of bullet holes from a pellet or BB gun. Understand that this an old (13 ), 30-pound dog who has a severe limp from arthritis, and we have a fenced-in yard. No way was he a threat to anyone. Some creep just thought it would be fun to shoot a crippled little dog.

Rollingcow  Right there with ya, Angelgift! Living in the country when I was younger and lived on the family farm we had two dogs shot and my horse. The guy who shot the horse (thankfully the horse didn't die ) told me that he thought it was a deer. I told him that if he thought a black and white Tennessee Walking Horse looked like a little brown deer he needed to go to remedial hunting classes. You find out who shot your little guy and I'll come help ya kick his/their collective behinds.

Surfhut  I can't tell you how many seals and dolphins I've come across while walking on the beach, washed up to shore with gunshot wounds. I tried to keep the ones who weren't already dead by using my son's beach toys to wash them down until the marine rescue people could get there. It is one sick person who takes shots at dolphins from their boat or shots at a dog minding it's business in his own back yard.

Paget51  This makes me see red too! :( I sure hope your little dog will be okay. That despicable-lowlife-bottom feeder who hurt your pup will get what he deserves some day. I hope its sooner and not later. People who hurt animals are sickos, and I sure wish we had stiffer laws for animal abuse.
