Grahamcracker posted on Dogs, Cats & Critters  My husband ordered a leash from chewy.com for our kitty. He ordered a size small, but she needs a medium. He called the company for instructions on returning the item. He was told to keep it and donate it to a shelter. They then replaced the item and there was no shipping charge. Just want to let people know that Chewy is a great company! BTW, we did give the leash to the Almost Home Foundation, a wonderful rescue group in northern Illinois.

Balogreene  My grandmother was 1 the last time the Cubs won the Series. My 86-yr old mom was 15 the last time they made the series. She is so thrilled to see it happen again.

Grahamcracker posted on Suggested Reading  For all you Lisa Scottoline fans, Damaged, her new book is very good.
I just finished a delightful history/cookbook, The Book of Lost Recipes by Jaya Saxena. It's a compilation of recipes from iconic closed restaurants. It's such a fun read.
Has anyone read John Dickerson's Whistlestop? I tried. The editing is non-existent. I thought I was being picky until I read the reviews on Amazon. Those who didn't like it were as turned off as I was by the obvious errors in spelling, grammar, and punctuation. There were sentences that made no sense at all. I returned it to the library after plowing through 2 chapters.

Grahamcracker posted on Computers &Tech Issues  Suddenly I'm getting game pop-up ads on a site I visit daily. I installed ad blocker plus on my laptop per recommendations here. However, when I tried to install it on my iPad, I get the message that Safari can't install ABP. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Tulsa  I know diddly about iPads, but I'll look it up for you. I searched 'intall ABP on Safari'. Link below.

https://adblockplus.org/en/safari At the top of that link is 'Report an issue". Pls try that. I think you email them and wait to hear.

Then see article at CNET para. 4 re bugs and issues.

ll-adblock-plus-on-safari/

One more option. If the first two don't help, read the link below thoroughly. I'd read it two or three times. I might even print it in order to refer to it for install.

adblock-plus-on-safari/

The first link says easy peasy. You're saying not so. I'm seeing there 'were' bugs but they have been fixed. Again, apparently, not so.

So...I hope something above helps. ...um...the links may be hot once I comment, if not you'll you have to paste them into your browser. It may be a bit of work, but it will be worth it, imo.

Grahamcracker  Thank you, Tulsa, for your help. You really went the extra mile! I tried to install ABP according to directions and it appears as though there is a charge for it. I found that odd as ABP was free when I installed it on my laptop. I did the soft reboot recommended in the Apple link. I still get the pop up on the site I had problems with before. Guess I'll only go to that site on my laptop. Again, thanks so much, Tulsa. Your kindness is appreciated.

Grahamcracker posted on The Road Automobilia  Update on the post below: A lady I know from church suggested a car with power seats. I tried her suggestion and am now the owner of a 2016 Hyundai Elantra. I has power seats & I can see over the hood! After not buying a car for 14 years, I'm blown away by all the bells & whistles a new car has. It's quite a sporty little number for an old broad like me, but what the hey...you only live once!

Balogreene  We got a Hyundai Elantra wagon in about 2001. I loved it, I could see over the hood! I didn't have to sit too close to the wheel. Since it was paid off, I got my Mazda Miata convertible. But, the Elantra was hit, and totaled by a drunk driver, while parked. We now own a Kia Soul (easy for mom to get in and out of ).The Elantra is probably going to be my retirement car.

My sister the liberal couldn't believe so many people in our family drove Hyundai's and Kia's. When it was time for her to get a new car, she went to KBB, Consumer reports, and others. She bought an Elantra because it was the best rated. She loves it!

Grahamcracker posted on The Road Automobilia  I'm looking for a new car. My Hyundai Elantra is almost 14 yrs.old. It's been a great car, and would like to buy another. Husband brought one home for me to test drive today. Great little car BUT I can't see over the sloping hood nor can I see the front fenders. I'm only 5' tall, so that could be part of the problem. The salesman told my husband all new cars are made that way because they found it cuts down on rear-end accidents. Oh really? All I can imagine is I'll be parking by ear when I pull in between 2 cars. My daughter is taller than I, has a newer car & she has the same problem. My son said he can't see the front of his new truck. what is wrong with this picture?

Grahamcracker posted on Pet Peeves  Has anyone else had the problem of picking up grocery items only to get them home and realize they are flavored with seasonings? I have unwittingly bought tomato sauce or canned tomatoes spiked w/oregano or basil or chili peppers. Yesterday I bought mayo only to find it had mayo and lime. My bad for not being more observant, but these items are mixed in with the plain products.

StormCnter  GC, I sympathize, or maybe I empathize. I have a favorite Oreo, the Fudge Cremes. They are coated with chocolate. When I got home with a new package, I realized I had bought Mint Fudge Cremes. No, no, no, no! The package is exactly the same except for a small "Mint" above the word Oreo. I tried one, hated it and knew to look more closely next time. However, your "mayo and lime" sounds pretty tasty. I might look for that.

MeiDei  Storm, if you venture to Aldi's remember to check out their Boulder brand of easy open, on a roll, trash bags. I load up on Swiss Cake Rolls, Peanut Butter Bars, & their Bacon Ranch salad dressing (best tasting ). BTW, tomato sauce with all the seasonings is a plus for me : )

Balogreene  I get so mad when I see something I want, grab it, get home and find I've gotten the wrong thing. They were close together, the wrong one was mixed with the right one, or the product was so intermixed it was hard to get the right thing.

FlatCityGirl  I've had it happen more than once and I get so mad at myself. Now I make a point of looking very closely at almost everything, especially tomato paste and other tomato products.

Grahamcracker posted on Main Page The Lobby  I hope I'm in the right forum. On 9/11 Mark Levin played "Amazing Grace" done by bagpipes. I've heard this version on his show one other time. I'm not a bagpipe fan, but these pipers are amazing. Does anyone know who performs this rendition? Thanks in advance!

StormCnter  GC, I've had good luck in the past by contacting the program manager for your station. I've tracked down all kinds of things in that way and I'll bet you can find the performer you are looking for. Or, go to Amazon, search for bagpipe music, Amazing Grace, and click on the album clips until you hear the one you like.
