Gram77  I often wonder about friends that haven't turned up in a while. I am doing just great. As for stitching, every inch of wall space has a framed cross stitch hanging. Even in the bathroom. I truly hope that some much missed names continue to pop up. It's such a treat.

Nice to see you back Phooey, trusting our prayers for your wife have speedied up her recovery, waking her each morning happy, healthy & a joy to be around!

Kono  I don't know if rosefenn ever hangs out here (didn't it used to let us go to other users' walls? ). But I wanted to offer a word of thanks for posting on the mothersite today that piece about the sandhill cranes at their migration stopover on the Platte River.

The reason given for the post being closed was that it's not a news site.

Bull puckey.

The Omaha World Herald is Omaha's main newspaper. While not the biggest newspaper in the country, it is most definitely a news site. And I'm most definitely happy to see the reminder of how neat the Sand Hills of Nebraska can be during the crane migrations each year.

3XALADY  Just popped in on my way to start some household chores and thought I would say 'hey.' I'm the former Betty Jean, as ECNY knows. She so graciously offered me her home when I was in FL that year the hurricanes were chasing all of us. She mentioned Rake King and I am wondering if he is still with us. Seems I saw that he had been ill. He was so very nice and knew what I was talking about when I wrote about the scissor sharpener cart the guy would push on the streets in St. Louis all those years ago, with a bell clanging at a certain spot when the wheel turned. I've re-settled to Warrenton, MO to be close to niece who is my remaining family since I lost my DH last May. The sunshine has left my life and I'm trying to move on, but you will never know how you will handle it until you go thru it. I pop on here once in awhile just to see how things are going, on lucianne every morning. When I was packing for my move, I found the email where I signed up for lucianne dated August 1990. Or was it 2000? Can't remember but it was when AlGore was trying to steal the election from GWB. Thanking God every day for our president, but kind of disappointed in him the last couple of days for calling out the Freedom Caucus for their stand on the healthcare 'makeover'. Pffffffft on Paul Eddie Munster Ryan and all his cohorts on this bill.

Escaped commieny  Heard from Rake at Christmas and he was doing well, had finally retired at 82. He was sad they had to sell the biz his parents started, and he called on Sam Walton, before the 5&10¢ store turned into Walmart, he has fantastic stories to tell and never should have been kicked off this site, GRRR. Hey Betty, DH just crossed into MO, told him to give you a wave !

3XALADY  Hey, Gurl! So glad to hear Rake is still up and going and I do remember his wonderful stories about their company. Did he not have kids to inherit? Or maybe the kids didn't want to inherit. I was reading on the Faith wall and so sorry to hear of your health issue. If I were still in Florida, I would be right over to take care of you as you go thru this. Bless your heart! An aside: I read somewhere that in an area of this country saying 'bless your heart' had a very bad meaning. But I ignore that as I've used it all my long life. Which side of MO is DH coming in on? I'm about an hour west (I think ) of St. Louis toward Kansas City, in the country. Haven't lived where I had to drive to get a gallon of milk in over 50 years but I guess I'll live. Just thankful my sweet niece wanted to bother with me in my old age. She has a 4 year old (I pray for patience! ) and a 4 month old so life is not boring. I am in the lower level of her beautiful atrium home on 15 acres. Spring is springing and I'm getting anxious to start planting spring bulbs for next year's bloom. I got used to having blooms all year in Florida and missed them after I moved at the end of September. Hoping DH has a safe trip until you see him again, and God bless you with speedy healing. I've reconnected with a friend who has battled lymphoma and she said it wasn't easy. God bless you, friend.

One of the first things I did when I was saved was pray for patience. I had to beg the Lord to take it back. He's worn me down more slowly since...and it's been far less painful.

I was up on the Mountain and thought I was bulletproof. And I never wanted to come down. No one can stay up there I learned and the fruit grows in the valley. I'll be learning till I fall asleep in Him. ...and no I'm not ill, I just don't know His plans for me. I have no idea why I said that....maybe it's reading the faith wall and learning so many are ill. My prayers for each of them.

Gram77  I discovered The Connection on my 77th birthday. The activity was always great. Then there came a time when personalities had differences of opinions that things turned personal and it seemed no matter how hard others tried to get it turned around we lost some really neat people. I miss those who moved on and often think about where they are, how they are, and do they post others places. Do they ever think of us who have hung on? My goal, when I first logged in, was to be here for my 87th birthday. I'm getting there. Will The Connection be here?

Daisymay  I also noticed the lack of posts to read every morning. I used to spend an hour reading and posting, now it takes 10 minutes. Where did everyone go? I was one who signed on the first day Lucianne went online. I've always loved this site. I would hate to see it die out! A lot of the "Regulars" are gone, for various reasons, and Tulsa is right about us being 20 Years older. Health issues certainly can change the time we spend online. Does anyone remember another site a lot of us used to visit called Pipebombnews? I wonder what happened to a lot of those folks (Hennypenny comes to mind ). I remember going to a weekend gathering in Nashville to meet everyone. It was so much fun to put a face with the name.

Tulsa  Hello, Daisymay...that was MeiDei who said we're 20 years older, etc.

This was the worst primary I've experienced and I thought the one before and the one before that was worst. Well I forgive without fail, but I don't forget posters.

I read one or two comments stating they couldn't take the hostility on the board. It was too ugly for them. ..too unreasonable. They announced they were leaving for good.

Politics is fascinating. I love my Country, but living and breathing politics is not my life and never will be. I was disgusting with much of what I read. Love Lucianne and Lucianne.com The Connection was a joy.

I believe a lot of us need a break. I know I do and I take them when I need them.

Currently signing in using the Firefox brower says The Connection and Lucianne.com are not secure. I've written Luis, but haven't heard from him. I don't visit site that aren't secure.

I'm using the Edge browser(at this moment ) which shows no problem with Lucianne security. I trust FF, not Edge

Tulsa  s/b disgusted, not disgusting in my reply to Daisymay. You shall know me by comments with typos and misuse of words as I am forever too busy And I change thoughts mid sentence.

Mei, FoxNews is not secure, but I don't have to give them a user ID and password.

StormC...cyber friend of mine, it is not a glitch. You should laugh at what I am about to type: I would not touch IE or Chrome with 'your' 10 ft. pole. IE is The least secure browser on earth and is being replaced by Edge which is MS's newest browser which is also nothing about which to write home. Chrome is a google product and I distrust google. BTW, ATT is about to change from unsafe yahoo to unsafe google. KMN(Kill Me Now!!! ) Lucianne currently is not safe.

Lots of people come out to play during Potus primaries and no other time.

I love you all to pieces, but the thrill is gone, politics wise. I'd rather play freecell between housework and running the house. I'm tired To The Bone of being intentionally irritated by. This will pass or it won't. I never know.
March 28 at 11:43 EST .

StormCnter  I agree about IE and I rarely use it, but it's available if necessary. Opera has limitations, but I mostly like it just fine. Chrome is a second choice because I got too many conflicts using Firefox lately. There were too many warnings and cautions that I didn't get with other browsers. I had liked Firefox best of all, but gave up. Over the years I have tried many browsers but I try to have three at any one time. With good security protection programs, we shouldn't worry too much, I think. I run CCleaner to keep things tidy and Malwarebytes (thank you, KenM )to get rid of any unwelcome visitors. Kaspersky has done well by me for many years and I rely on that protection.
PS - I play Freecell, too, when I'm killing time.[grin]

Tulsa  I'm still in Edge to respond. You're a LOT of trouble. (LOL )

When I started receiving those share your location, etc. I went into the hamburger (in FF ) and put in a code that stopped the warnings and cautions. All of them were about sharing location. One line of code in the correct box, stopped it all. I'd be happy to share it.

I'm using Windows Defender in Win 10 and it's free. I love free stuff! Defender replaced MSSE.

Since I use DuckDuckGo as a search engine and they don't track or keep info and since FF doesn't either, there is no need for CCleaner. Instead, I go into privacy under the hamburger and delete browser cash when the Spirit moves me...once a month or two months or whatever.

The Suit's crest of arms says 'we trust no one'...lol and in his business that's primo advice.

Just bc Edge shows Lucianne as safe means nothing to me. Edge is as stable as IE and Chrome. Just my opinion.

Lunch. Stay safe and well...that goes for all of you here

MeiDei  I currently have no choice I'm locked out of everything but IE - by my security system (windows 7 - all else lost or locked off when system restore was implemented ). The guy who got kicked off FF started his own version called "Brave" I don't know if anyone has tried it yet. I'm thinking of getting a tablet just for one or two functions. I seldom, if ever, visit Fox News (or Breitbart/Weasel Zippers or Gateway P as they take too long to load or regularly freeze on me )- the only place I give a password to is email & here. Don't go all missing on us Tulsa, we're several that share commandeering a ship called "Frustration" so far all have forgiven me my lazy use of grammar, misuse of brackets vs. parentheses & where quote marks go i.e., before or after periods ; ) Here I unwind or spiral at will w/an occasional apology.
March 28 at 13:29 EST .

Tulsa  Ok, Miss Mei...you're on my Trouble list now as I'm back in Edge! lol...MS did that to windows 7. They had no intention of supporting it until 2020.

First s/b coat of arms or family crest, not what I typed above. I need a nap or a pill or both!

Our security was MSSE (free ) and when that went, we bought new pcs. It was strange. We could get to email on the laptop and it was receiving security updates weekly only, but not the desktop...everything stopped working.

For me it's weather, comics, Drudge, Lucianne and The Connection. Also the bank and our investments. We use MS Outlook for email on our pcs, so we don't have to sign in on line. That is part of MS Office which we buy with the pc. I use Word and having Word gives us spell check in MS Outlook(not that it helps my misuse of words! ) The Suit uses Excel.

Also, anyone who wants to use FF and not get location annoyance messages, go to General under the hamburger.

MeiDei  It's well that you brought this up SR; to get at the root cause would be a good starting point. Firstly, those of us still here since start up are +/-20 years older - some have survived serious medical issues, some have not. Serious & well reasoned comments have been over shadowed by more snark (& in some cases back stabbing each other ) than necessary, a turn-off for many. OPs have been made the subject rather than the 'other side view' articles posted cancelling out the wisdom of knowing your enemy's tenets & how we may counter their efforts effectively. Trolls, they wouldn't be here if we ignored them, by responding in kind we feed the beast. The 'like' button is a time/type saver but may result in fewer posts i.e., unintended consequence. I notice more snarky comments showing up on TCTH lately, so some who have moved there are bringing their trash talk with them whereas their regular avid researchers seem fewer. Our comments being saved forever somewhere in cyber space is also something considered as off-putting. Attacking Jonah in a very personal way on his mother's website says a lot about her high character & the lack of civility of the posters - who should have been more agreeably disagreeable by keeping comments to addressing his premise & his concerns; we don't change anyone's mind by proving their point. Throwing in the towel in search of another website isn't an answer it's choosing to lose. Just my random thoughts, what say others?

Kono  Fourteen years ago I peeked at lucianne.com after hearing KSFO's Lee Rodgers say it was the first site he looked at every morning. A month later I asked to sign up and was turned away because the site was full and not accepting new members (or so I was told ). After a year on a waiting list, I was let in (along with several dozen others ), around 2004. That small flood seemed to dilute the special character of the site, as have several other surges in new memberships since then.

As one who was part of that early dilution (and who hasn't done much to nurture what made that original Ldotter community so special ) I probably owe the original members among y'all an aopology.

But a resounding Amen to what StormCntr said just before me. The site's still way better than most of the rest, so don't jump ship, especially you who joined first. As an early member whose presence I still miss often reminded us, in some strange and mysterious way we are ever In His Loving Grip. (So no losing hope allowed! )

Clipped wings  Lucianne still has my vote for being one of my first sites to check each day. It used to be that the comments were intelligent, witty and funny - to be enjoyed. Not so much now so that I rarely read them. I've enjoyed the Connection but over the years the walls have been less used, the conversations have become stale. As in any group, there have been times that the whole site was dominated by a few personalities and newcomers felt unwelcome and went away. However, this is still a good place to exchange ideas. I hope it stays.

Tulsa  Gram77 and StormCnter regarding the secure login question on March 16. In Firefox I receive the same message if I attempt to login at the Connection or anywhere on the Lucianne page.

I'm currently using Edge browser in Win. 10 and I do not receive that message. Edge is Microsoft's replacement for IE. I don't believe Edge is nearly as secure as FF.

I emailed Luis, the Lucianne tech and asked him to pls address the login issue but I have not heard and it has not be repaired.

Now just because I don't get the warning when I log in when I'm using the Edge browser doesn't mean it's safe to log in....oh my...sorry about the double negatives. I think Edge is a lousy browser. Don't like chrome as that's Google and I don't trust google or like google.

Ramona  I will post this question at the Computer & Tech wall, too. Here's a question I'm sure will generate expert advice from Ldotters: Verizon is getting out of the email business so I need to choose a new provider. I could go with AOL and transfer my current verizon email. What advice do you all have for an email provider that is reliable, good at eliminating spam, not too expensive? Thanks a bunch!

We always buy MS Office when we purchase pcs and use their email program from our homepage. We don't have to go on line and sign in. Originally bought Office for Word and spell check in the email program...used to be Outlook Express, then it was Windows Live Mail and now its MS Outlook. But it's not free. Free is best.

Gram77  Good afternoon all. Just this minute when I logged in to The Connection this message came on the screen: This connection is not secure. Logins entered here could be compromised. Should I not post any more? I am anything but computer wise and am not sure how to proceed.

StormCnter  Gram, I am pretty sure what you got is an ad pitching a security program. I am on and off the Connection every day and have never seen it, but my AdBlocker might be keeping it from showing up. I'd ignore the popup and you may not see it again. For sure don't click on any part of the ad.

Gram77  Thanks Storm. I suspected what you just explained but I worry. I never get curious and click on stuff after one crazy experience. Between those popups and my phone constantly ringing from places I have never heard of (all calls show on my TV screen ) I find it most bothersome.

   Tulsa  Hello you two.

We installed NoMoRobo on our landline. There is no charge. It will be available for cell phones at some point for a monthly fee. (We have a TracFone for emergencies only ) The site lists the phone companies compatible with the program. We have an alarm system and that runs on the landline.

If a call is generated by a computer NoMoRobo disconnects the call after one ring. We love it.

We only turn the phone on from 9-noon weekdays and often times, not at all. Family, neighbors, dentist, etc. have our email to contact us or confirm appts.

Robo calls are an invasion of our privacy. This is our private line. It's not for junk calls anymore than our email is for junk mail.

We have att U-verse. One of the features allows the phone to be turned on and off. It does not ring. The ans. machine does not pick up either. Any caller receives a busy signal. All the # features are listed at the ATT website.

Before we had these features we just disconnect the plug from the back of the cordless phone to turn it off.

I will not 'jump to' like a circus animal when the phone rings.

Forgive typos...I'm being summoned to the kitchen..sumbody is hungry!

Escaped commieny  I was notified my Firefox that it is a new feature
in their upgrade for our safety. It is not selling any thing.

StormCnter  I abandoned Firefox a while back because too many notifications were cluttering up whatever I was working on. I had loved Firefox, particularly for Lucianne.com, but now I depend on Chrome instead.
