MeiDei posted on Main Page The Lobby  Watched those marchers in Britain calling for Robinson's freedom, odd news to me. Found a background article on it, written by a Brit for National Review. Most imformative + a warning for us.

Richdet  One is not hearing about the Tommy Robinson case in the MSM. The dog that isn't barking. Why is that? You would think the American media would take interest, especially since the media overseas has been ordered by the court not to speak his name.

One has to conclude that the US media is just fine with taking opponents of Islam and rape gangs as political prisoners. The possibility that this could be a death sentence for Robinson (retaliation by Muslims in jail ) seems okay too, maybe the desired outcome. Certainly a warning for Americans because this is exactly the treatment of government opponents the Left would endorse, once they get that pesky confiscation of weapons out of the way.

I would recommend Mark Steyn's discussion of Robinson:

MeiDei  I saw a video on some website of the marchers shouting something like "free Tommy" - it was a huge scene from an overhead view - similar to what you'd see for a special royal parade; it certainly got my attention. The print media is very selective in the stories it deems of interest & therefore controls the conversation.
Funny that you should also mention Katie Hopkins - a while back a 40-something sent me a video of her in action, I posted it on the Politics wall here, still current on the page. She's a firebrand, well spoken. I missed her on Tucker's program, so thanks for the link.

MeiDei posted on Movies & Reviews  Just finished watching "The Trials of Oscar Wilde" with Peter Finch & James Mason among others. It was a very well written & acted movie, I thought it would be about his literature but it was about his behavior - in that era scandalous. Whatever channel I watched it on devoted the week to movies about that and other behaviors now considered chic .... you can watch it here on youtube. It won several awards in its day - BTW no offensive match-ups are shown ... careful wording only.

Richdet  I like Oscar Wilde, and will probably check this out, so thanks, Mei Dei. Your post indicates to me that Gay Pride week (or is it month ) has arrived once again; if that's what it takes to program this movie, so be it.

Some context for this movie might be of interest. "Trials" was released in 1960, at a time when homosexuality was still illegal in Britain, so the movie probably felt political or "agitating" in many quarters in its day. Anyone who knows the story of mathematician Alan Turing knows how severe the punishment for homosexuality could be even in 1950s Britain. Their laws punishing gays didn't end until the late sixties.

Peter Finch was well known for his way with the ladies. The producers could hedge their bet and avoid distraction by casting an "open" heterosexual.

MeiDei  You're very welcome; the above is the full movie - but wouldn't be great for small screen/phone viewing.

It's a pleasure to see some activity on this wall - hoping it picks up again.

MeiDei  Yes indeed! A little background:
The Three Stooges were an American vaudeville and comedy team active from 1922 until 1970, best known for their 190 short subject films by Columbia Pictures that have been regularly airing on television since 1958. Their hallmark was physical farce and slapstick. In films, the stooges were commonly known by their actual first names. There were a total of six stooges over the act's run: Moe Howard and Larry Fine were mainstays throughout the ensemble's nearly fifty-year run and the pivotal "third Stooge" was played by Shemp Howard, Curly Howard, Joe Besser, and Curly Joe DeRita.

It is the fall of 1957. The Whitakers, the very picture of a suburban family, make their home in Hartford, Connecticut. Their daily existences are characterized by carefully observed family etiquette, social events, and an overall desire to keep up with the Joneses. Cathy Whitaker is the homemaker, wife and mother. Frank Whitaker is the breadwinner, husband and father. Together they have the perfect '50s life: healthy kids and social prominence. Then one night, Cathy discovers her husband's secret life and her tidy, insular world starts spinning out of control
