Mildred posted on Main Page The Lobby  Tulsa: HELP. I've had more ads on Lucianne in IE 11 and can't find that panel with the 'debugger' tab. I had problems getting on the internet this morning and when it started working, the ads appeared again. I tried everything I know how to do to get that tab so if you have any 'magic' clicks, I would really appreciate it.

Tulsa  I tried to look below to see if I could find your notes. I remember you said you clicked 'debugger'. Try placing your cursor on any ad and right clicking and see if that screen comes on up on the bottom half of the page. See if after clicking debugger, right click again on any ad and see if you get a drop down screen with options.

I just can not remember what the options were but it's pretty much common sense. There are only 4 or so choices, so you can try them all until you hit pay dirt and then do each ad. I'll say a prayer for you.

Also try the ABP icon and see if there are options there in IE....but if I remember correctly there were none. I just don't understand IE 11.

Please consider going to Firefox and save yourself!

I'm in Firefox, but was never rid of the ads in IE ll.

Tulsa  Ok. Right click on any ad and you should get a box and one options is 'Inspect Element (Q )...click that and you get the bottom screen full of code and 'debugger' is one of those.

I don't know what to do after that in IE, but hopefully it will come back to you. If it does...make notes, so you'll have them if it happens again.

I don't know what I'd do without notes! Oh I pray this works for you, Mildred. Will check tomorrow.

StormCnter  I abandoned IE for doing much of anything because it crashed so frequently. I have Chrome, Opera and Firefox, too. I use Firefox for Lucianne.com with ADP and have no ads.
Mildred, is it possible you have picked up an intruder? There are good free programs for detecting and removing that sort of thing. LDotter KenM tipped me to a couple that I hadn't known about.

Tulsa  Good Morning, StormCnter. I came by to see if Mildred was successful, big help that I was last night (not ).

Pls share tips KenM gave you. I know about Malwarebytes and Spybot Search and Destroy. Thank you.

StormCnter  And good morning right back.
A few months ago, I had strange things going on in my computer and couldn't find the reason. Nothing worked to clear it up. Ken sent a list of programs he had found helpful and had thoroughly checked out:

http://adlice.com/software/roguekiller/
http://www.slimwareutilities.com/index.p
hp

https://www.safer-networking.org/dl/
https://www.malwarebytes.org/
http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/downloa
d

I already had CCleaner, so chose Malwarebytes from his list, installed it, ran it, allowed it to delete the problems it found, and then my own computer mess was cleared up.

I have Malwarebytes set to run nightly on my computer now. I run CCleaner and Spybot manually when I think about it.

All is running well now. It's good to have L-Dotter friends who know more than we do. [grin]

Mildred  Finally got back on Lucianne this morning--it's only 6:30 am here! I tried all the right clicking before I commented and nothing worked. I tried different settings also. When I filter by Easy List the only thing I get when I right click is the usual Windows list--copy, print, etc. When I had the other problem a few weeks back I cleaned up files I don't usually use and forgot I had deleted Malwarebytes. I'll try that this morning. Maybe that's the file I need. I'll get back to you later, after some breakfast and coffee! I did use CCleaner but that didn't help although I'll also try that this morning and clear the registry. Thanks for caring so much and getting back to me so quickly.

StormCnter  CCleaner is useful, but it mostly just clears out the clutter. So, it serves a different purpose than the programs that search out aliens.

Tulsa  Thank you Storm C for the info.

...and Mildred so glad you're at least back at Lucianne.

I know you are attached to IE, but you could eliminate all this heartache by switching to Firefox. The only time I use IE is when I need to print a document..a bank stmt for instance. IE is not even close to the security offered in Firefox. ...and no I don't own stock in Firefox. I truly hate to see you having these problems repeatedly.

StormC is correct CCleaner will not remove a virus. Run Malwarebytes.

And to find that screen with debugger in the tool bar last night I was in Firefox and right clicked on a faint list of numbers where the ads used to be at Lucianne. I think? you may right click on blank space. Then a box comes up and click on 'Inspect Element (Q )'...then you'll see jibberish code and that tool bar with debugger on the bottom half of the page. Try to take it from there.

I'll check back.

Mildred  Tulsa and StormCnter: Thanks so much. My free trial of Malwarebytes has expired and I'm 'frugal' so decided to try anything else that is free first. (I only have one computer and all the offers usually include multiple computers. ) I then installed Spybot. Ran the search and destroy--all okay. Cleaned the cookies and temp files, etc. It was a busy morning. Finally I decided to check the right click on ads that Tulsa has been telling me about. I can't believe it but I found the Inspect Element near the bottom of the list and clicked on that. How stupid could I have been!!! There was the debugger. After clicking on debugger, I clicked on the red button that had a '5' (that's how many ads I had ) and I'm ad free. Tulsa, I am writing those notes down so I won't forget. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Lucianne friends are the best. Have a great weekend.

P.S. I have Firebox installed and find it is so much faster than IE and use it for quick searches. I've used IE for so many years, it's hard to change at this age.
June 25 at 11:35 EST .

Tulsa  I'm jumping for joy. Good for you.

First Malwarebytes has a free edition. Once the trial addition expires you don't buy the premium, you update the definitions I think and carry on. Just don't click buy or try premium ...click anything else and you'll be fine ...you'll revert to the free addition.

If you plan to install Malwarebytes again, do not, repeat Not, try the premium addition...skip to the free addition. You'll have to look carefully and not bubble or unbubble premium addition and install the trial addition from the beginning. Then you update the definitions before you use it.

I don't like change either, but you will find you don't get bugs in Firefox like you do in IE. You won't lose ABP and get ads. It will not let you make mistakes. It warns you about sites and software so you have to think twice and you avoid problems.

It's hard to help like this. I can't show you screen shots, but we can take this to the computer/tech wall and I'll help all I can with questions about Firefox. That little hamburger icon has all the goodies in it.

And isn't it amazing you just saw the 'right click on ads'. I find if I read instructions several times I get it...sometimes. lol. In person conversations are so much easier especially if I can show you on a pc screen.

This isn't easy, but you have done beautifully.

Be advised I am not a tech in any sense of the word.

Praise the Lord Jesus for helping Mildred.

Mildred posted on Main Page The Lobby  I thought I had finally gotten rid of the ads on Lucianne that keep increasing every day. I have installed AdFender and that worked with Internet Explorer for about a day or two. Then I installed AdBlockPlus with Firefox and that is a disaster. Pages and pages of ads that jump up and down and flash while you are trying to read. I even reported the problem but never got a response. Lucianne is the only site (except Yahoo mail ) that I have the problem. It's really annoying and I stopped visiting Lucianne for a short time but I really like the posts and comments. Anyone have a suggestion?

Tulsa  I installed AdFender on IE and Firefox. Ads still appeared at Lucianne. I went back to ABP on IE and Firefox and the ads are still at Lucianne. The ads don't move or flash anywhere.

I checked each and every internet option. Nothing seems to help.

I've decided to simply ignore them like I did before ABP worked so miraculously. I have no idea why it stopped working and I find nothing on line that helps fix it or explains it.

If/when we need our neighborhood tech to stop by I will certainly ask him and pass along any info.

Tulsa  Mildred. In Firef. always browse in Private. Then go to Options, Privacy, Tracking and check 'Use tracking protection in Private...'

Under History, drop down, select 'use custom settings...', then check Always Browse in Private. Check Accept cookies and in the drop down by accept third party cookies select 'never'.

I've tried to clean the pc of cookies with Malwarebytes and with Spybot Search and Destroy (ABP ) recommended that. It didn't help.

Our tech can remove them. I'll let you know if I get to the point I've had enough and call him.

Mildred  Tulsa. I did email the feedback at AdFender last night and they responded. Of course, after 9 pm there were no ads and they sent a screen shot showing no ads. The ads returned this morning at 6 am (MST ) which is 9 am (EDT ) so I think the ads are most prevalent during high traffic times on Lucianne. I emailed again this morning with the specific ads and will let you know what they tell me.

I uninstalled Firefox and seem to be getting fewer, less annoying ads but that could be because it is still early in the day. That also removed AdBlockPlus which may have been causing problems with AdFender.

I'll be checking back now and then to see if your tech can remove them so I can try it here. Thanks. I'll also let you know if AdFender can do anything.

Tulsa  I won't call the tech unless we have a serious problem. He works for IBM, but is tech support contracted with an ATT call center. He has disks that will remove anything. The prob using him is he comes after work, which is our dinner time. He has not had dinner and I always feel terrible for him.

There is this whole discussion about turning off either java or java script. One of those 'make' the ads work. They also make other things you want work. So turning whichever one is the correct one on and off would be a hassle.

Another thing. The ABP list of ads I sent as 'not blocking ads' was incredible. Some ads were Lucianne. Many were from google. Lucianne is the only place ads show. Add to that they are so obnoxious...crepey skin, clothes pins on eye lids, beets and bosoms. What is all that? Is it a plot by Samaritan? lol...You'll only get that if you follow POI (Person of Interest )

Mildred  I've been chatting back and forth for most of the day with AdFender. At least, so far they haven't blamed me! This is the latest 'fix'. It didn't work.

1. Exit AdFender
2. Restart IE 11
3. Clear IE browser cache ( http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/inter
net-explorer/manage-delete-browsing-hist
ory-internet-explorer#ie=ie-11
)
4. Restart AdFender and IE
5. Browse to Lucianne.com

Before that I downloaded Malwarebytes and did a complete scan and updated all filters.·If they have any other bright suggestions I'll let you know. Tulsa, thanks for all you do. Maybe between the two of us we can make this work although I'm having doubts.

Mildred posted on Main Page The Lobby  It's baaack. For those following the discussion of the automatic upgrade to Win 10, I checked my Windows Update and found the automatic upgrade to Win10 waiting to be installed. I unchecked the update, right clicked to hide it and exited in total disgust. When will this end? How many times do I have to tell them I don't want Win 10. I've forgotten but is there any way to stop this completely or do we have to continue to check until the free upgrade expires? If I say any more, I'll be forever banned from Lucianne!

I have never gotten a prompt for Windows 10.

Tulsa  KB3035583 is the download from when this started that reserved your copy of Win. 10, aka GWX (Get Win. 10 )

Find that download and uninstall. They'll send it again. Keep hiding it.

After that MS sent about 5 builds of Win. 10 as downloads.

http://winsupersite.com/windows-10/how-s
top-windows-10-upgrade-downloading-your-
system

Find the above downloads and uninstall. None came to our pc bc I never downloaded KB3035583. ..and they have sent that one 3 times minimum.

If Win 10 does gets thru, you have 30 days to uninstall it.

We have Dells. On the bottom right there is a tiny white triangle. That is for icons and notifications. Find GWX and select 'Hide icon and notifications.'

It's all I know to do until July when this ends.

I am disgusted beyond words at MS. MS has passed pushy and become militant!

There is a suggestion down thread and I'll give it a serious look when this pc must be replaced.

Wetenschapper I'd like to encourage those who are unhappy with Windows to give Linux a try. There are dozens of distributions, but the most popular one, one that is extremely user-friendly (it's also more like Windows than is a Mac ), boots in seconds, and runs well even on outdated hardware, is Linux Mint. If you have an extra hard drive or an old computer you're not using, you can download it for free, burn it to a DVD, and install it without having to disturb your Windows system. Applications - and there are hundreds, most of which will read and write popular Windows file formats - are free and available from the "repository" that works like a smartphone app store. I began experimenting with Linux having Windows on one drive and Linux on the other, using them both side by side. Gradually, I came to use Linux almost exclusively, and eventually got out from under Microsoft,s heavy thumb. Mint can be downloaded for free at http://linuxmint.com

Tulsa  Mildred. I turned ABP off on the home page in order to see the cartoon of the day. That is why other ads are coming thru, I believe. If you click ABP you can tell it about offending ads, and send a screen shot. But I believe in order to see the cartoon of the day you must turn ABP off. Or! we can turn ABP on and off after viewing the cartoon of the day....or pass on seeing it. We have options.

There are no ads on any other pages. Best wishes.

This is the only site I have this problem and it is really annoying. I'll let you know if I get any good results.

Tulsa  Well shoot. I have ads on all pages this morning. But I didn't have the cartoon!? What in the world. ...I did finally get the cartoon of the day to appear.

I went the ABP and re-downloaded/updated ABP for IE and Firefox and rebooted. I still have ads on home page and recent posts pages.

Lucianne needs the revenue to keep the site open and the ads aren't blinking or waving which is uber distracting, so I'll live with it.

Ad companies and ABP have been fighting for a very long time. It appears the consumer lost. I'll check Cnet and another site with geek cyber friends to see if there is a solution and post if I discover anything. Best wishes.

Tulsa  Cnet has no articles. Several hits on the web that ABP is no longer working, but no solutions that I find.

I did learn ABP will not work until a filter list is chosen. Select only one. Then I came back to Luci homepage and checked ABP. Screen said the filters were not correct. I followed the on screen instructions to correct. I have the correct filters now but the ads still appear. Lots of them. If you or anyone finds info, pls post. Thank you, sincerely.

Mildred  Tulsa: Received the following at ABP forum.

You need a filter like this:
Code: Select all
||luc.sslimages.com^

It would be easier in chrome / firefox.
In IE you have to wait for an easylist author to add the filter or like I said above use firefox to prepare the filters to push in ABP for IE.

Mildred  Here's the workaround for internet explorer. Good luck trying this. I'm not a computer nerd and will use a different ad blocker if Lucianne can't fix this or just say goodbye to Lucianne.

ABP for IE for now let you use only easylist (+regional list )
To add some other list or your custom filters, follow these steps:

- prepare your lists in firefox (abp for firefox ) + your custom filters, then export all filters in a file named patterns.ini.
- replace patterns.ini file from ABP for IE with that one prepared in firefox.

You should:
- close IE
- go to ABP for IE folder
- replace patterns.ini in the folder with that created in firefox
- open IE

the folder with patterns.ini is at:
%userprofile%\AppData\LocalLow\Adblock Plus for IE
(%userprofile% is your user profile directory, like "C:\Users\YourUser" )

Tulsa  You went above and beyond. Thank you. I'm in Firefox and ABP supposedly 'fixed' the prepared list I chose at ABP for me while I was on the Lucianne home page... They said I didn't have the correct things 'checked' Not so. Still have ads.

I deleted and re-downloaded ABP for IE and for Firefox. Then I rebooted. I've sent screen shots to ABP for the ads here.

Firefox is safer for surfing imo, but does not play well with our printer. I use IE if I need to print from the web.

Tulsa  Haven't bothered to write ABP and would have been unhappy with a snarky reply (understatement ).

We had CCleaner and our tech said it is actually malware. At least two or three posters here disagree with that. Nevertheless we removed it. History, cookies, internet files, etc. are deleted upon exiting the web and the pcs are set to defrag weekly, so I do not miss the too often updates of CCleaner.

I've watched our tech go into RegEdit often enough to do it myself, tho I have been told it's dangerous.

I truly appreciate your help today and I was happy to offer whatever I could to you and anyone reading.

Lucianne with ads looks like it's badly decorated for Christmas. I do not think I can take it. ABP is not working, so I shall try AdFender. Thank you again for the referral.

Mildred posted on Main Page The Lobby  I give up. First, Lucianne gets so slow it's takes too long to load. Then because some commenters hit the slow-to-register Like button too many times, no one can use the like button. This time it's the excuse that people are getting too vehement about their opinions. I use AdBlockPlus and I know it slows some sites but now Lucianne has found a way to allow ads. I don't want to look at crepey knees and I can't get rid of it. I reinstaalled AdBlockPlus but this site is still allowing this type of ad. I'm outta here until someone at Lucianne is able to bring back the old Lucianne. Sorry for the rant. I'll miss so many of those whose comments gave all of us information and opinions whether I agreed with them or not.

StormCnter  Mildred, it appears the Like button was the cause of the slowdown of the site. Just think of the number of people hitting that button even once, plus some people rapid-flicking it hundreds of times. Each of those Likes took time to register, thus slowing down the entire forum. If it's an either or, I'll take the sacrifice of the Like button so the site can be faster.

I do agree the ads for a cure for crepey knees and flabby arms are appetite-suppressors.

Wetenschapper  These ads were popping up in the Opera browser (which I believe uses the Chrome engine ) as well, but disappeared after a couple of days. I used to make Lucianne.com an exception for my ad-blocker because these ads do, after all, help support the site. Trouble is, there were so _many_of them; not without some remorse and guilt I eventually turned AdBlocker on for this site as well. I try to compensate by donations from time to time.

Tulsa  Phooey! Thank you so much for the info on crepey ads. I means...My eyes!

We use Firefox and IE. Firefox and our printer don't play will together. So if I plan to print on line I enter the web using IE. If I'm reading I enter the web with Firefox.

I down loaded ABP for Firefox and for IE. I do feel Firefox has more protections surfing than IE. And we use MSSE (MicroSoft Security Essentials ) for virus protection. It's free. MS does not advertise and it's the best of all we've tried. It's not a resource hog. It's not sensitive and if a site it bad, MS closes it.

For FireF the red ABP is on the top tool bar. For IE the red ABP icon is on the lower tool bar.

The secret was to Right click on the ad and select from the choices given. The cartoon on the home page remained.

I'm so tickled. Thank you again.

Safari Man  I noticed the same thing. I have noticed the "Like" feature being abused in the extreme lately, so I suspect they have removed it to avoid the abuse. I still think its a good idea, but they need to rethink the implementation so it can only be done once per visitor.

Alice  Same here: Like click is gone on the main page.

I often cannot remember whether I have clicked it or not when going down a page, and have depended on Lucianne's server. It would not do anything if I re-clicked, only on new 'Like' clicks. Seems to me this implies it was cookie-based or something. I did not know there were multiple clicks.

Astroturf needs its own Roundup! ;- ) I wink, but all the same it's disappointing to discover.

Suejeanne  I was also surprised to see the "like" button gone - I realize that some people were complaining about people hitting the "like" button more than once but I didn't see how that was possible - I think I accidentally clicked the "like" a second time but the system prevented that from "taking" - I would think it would add more interest to see how people were responding to various things and it was a time-saver, too, because I could hit "like" if that person's reply was everything I would have said, if I could have been so good at saying it.

On the main forum, the Like button could be clicked hundreds of times within just seconds, distorting the feature's purpose. The staff had dropped hints on the threads that the Like button abuse had to stop, but it just got worse. When you could see a poster's comment get 500 likes within a minute or so, it was obvious that fraudulent clicking was going on. Probably the staff just got tired of it.

Mildred  I think there are so many likes (which seem like abuse ) because many times it takes minutes before your click is counted. I'm sure there are many people who just keep clicking until it is registered. Other sites have up and down arrows and are counted immediately. Lucianne is getting more popular and the technology seems to need an update. I sent a note to Luis.

FlatCityGirl  When Trump supporters, like one who calls himself "Pinchem," posts something really nasty about people who are not Trump supporters, then clicks his own "Like" button 570 times [at my last count], it was time for the Staff to do something. They finally did.

The "Like" feature was being used as a weapon of war by Trump supporters, and Pinchem is one of the worst offenders. I got tired of posting my perfectly valid onion of Trump, then having Pinchem jump on me with a nasty post, and "Like" his nasty opinion of me into the several hundreds.

August9  In a "left handed fashion", I'm glad to see the missing LIKE tab is not my compudigator's fault!
Have noticed this for hours now---It would be nice if some sort of notice/announcement would have been posted below the MUST READS!

Tulsa  I'm delighted it's gone. This isn't facebook...a site I have never and will never visit. Lucianne don't need no steenking like button anywhere on this site, imo.

Flowerladytoo  I'm so glad it's gone! The site seems to be running a little better, too. When I saw a nasty comment that gained over 500 likes in the 60 seconds or so it took for me to post a comment, I knew something was very fishy. I think they were using an auto clicker program...kind of like what we see on Drudge and some of the News sites.

Wetenschapper  Mixed feelings about the button's disappearance. For instance, has anyone else noticed that the pages seem to load _much_ faster now that it's gone? I suspect one reason it was removed was that people (myself included! ) kept clicking back to the same article to see how well their comment was faring, thereby loading up the server with page requests.

Mildred posted on Computers &Tech Issues  Anyone having trouble loading Lucianne this afternoon? It is very slow and sometimes doesn't load at all. I'm also having problems with Drudge Report and Yahoo Mail simply won't load. I am using Internet Explorer 11 and Windows 7 Professional. I did not do anything unusual but this afternoon those 3 sites stopped working. I've cleared cookies, temp files and registry. It's still a mess. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Mildred  I shut down the computer (not restart ) and now everything is working as it should. Actually it's faster than usual. I've decided to install Firefox as a backup to IE. Something must have happened out there in the cloud or someone is messing with the internet. My Microsoft Surface tablet was able to work properly and it uses Bing. Bing is a terrible program but at least I have a back up if needed. I'm out here in Arizona and my daughter in NJ has been having the same problem off and on for the past 3 days. I always thought that the tech companies caused problems near Christmas so they could sell more computers. Who knows, maybe that was it. Anyway everything is up and running for the moment.

Tulsa  When school is out, the web is overloaded. Sometimes websites are down for maintenance, sometimes they are simply overloaded and our ISP's have technical problems.

Lonestar Jack  Check out whitehat.com. I have been using their Aviator browser for some time. Especially for Drudge which is loaded with javascript ads etc. If I need to look at images I reload the site in a conventional browser and wait.

Mildred posted on Computers &Tech Issues  Tulsa: Thanks for the warning about Win 10 upgrade. The latest twist seems to be an important Win 7 update. If you click on the update KB3035583 in the update window it makes a statement that this will improve the performance of Win 7. I then Googled the KB update and according to the sites I looked at it is actually the Win 10 upgrade. So they are 'forcing' you to upgrade and then install Win 10. So far, I've been able to hide the upgrade per your instructions below. I don't want Win 10. When I hide the update, I am not tempted to install it when I see that 'important update'. Does anyone know if this is what Microsoft is actually doing?

Tulsa  Mildred, I am so, so sorry I'm just seeing this. I'm being shown a warning that our firewall is down and we're 'leaking' private data. It's a trap! It's hooey, but I have to x out of Lucianne/the web. Never x out the warning box. Too dangerous. You might initiate a virus.

KB3035583 is in fact either the Win. 10 download or acceptance of it for MS to load it. I removed it and hide it. I hide it by right clicking on it and clicking hide. MS has continued to attempt a download of Win. 10, but removing and hiding the above 'update' has prevented the download, so far. I hope that holds.

If it loads, I'd do a system restore and if that doesn't clear it up, I'll all our tech guru who makes house calls.

I do hope this helps.

Mildred  Thank you Tulsa. I have uninstalled the Win 10 upgrade and hid the update to install Win 10. So far, I haven't seen any upgrades or updates relating to Win 10. Before I automatically install new updates, I check each one to see what it is. No more 'forced' Win 10.

Mildred posted on Computers &Tech Issues  Go Back to Windows 7 or 8.1. I tried Windows 10 and decided I didn't want it at this time. You can go back to your previous version if you've upgraded but did not do a clean install Here is one site that tells you how to do that. http://www.howtogeek.com/220723/how-to-uninstall-windows-10-
and-downgrade-to-windows-7-or-8.1/

It's really simple, takes only a few minutes and you can still get the free Windows 10 as long as you intall it in less than a year.

Mildred posted on Computers &Tech Issues  I thought I had gotten rid of all the ads on Lucianne with AdFender. AdBlock didn't work anymore so I switched to AdFender. I don't know why AdBlock stopped working. Now I'm getting the ads by Taboola.com. Anyone know how to get rid of those? I use Windows 7 and IE 11. Thanks.

Mildred  Update: I tried to eliminate the Google ads by installing the Google Advertising Cookie Opt Out. That worked sometimes. I finally changed my search engine to Bing (I really don't like it ) which replaced Google search. I still use AdFender and I have not seen the ads on Lucianne for the past few days. I'm hoping! Still can't get rid of Taboola. I got a new computer and will take it to the Geek Squad and have them install stuff I can't and see if they can copy the files/favorites/contacts, etc. from the old computer to the new one. I'll ask about Taboola and let you know if they can do something about getting rid of it.

Mildred  Finally got the new computer up and running. The Google ads still appear but I can get rid of them by exiting Lucianne and then reloading. Seems to happen late afternoon/early evening. The Geek Squad was not helpful about getting rid of Taboola. Probably need to call the techies instead of asking at the store. Anyone else have any other suggestions?

Mildred  The AdChoice ads are getting worse and worse. They are all over the site and cannot be stopped. I know Lucianne needs money to run the site but then why is there a campaign once or twice a year for contributions? If we have to pay to read Lucianne, then do that and stop the ads.

Mildred  Thanks Jack. I just commented on the main page of the Connection. I've been seeing a brown bar to the right of the Must Reads on the main page. Today it has a name: Adiply. This is a program that multiplies ads for greater revenue for the website. Anyone know how to rid us of this program?

Mildred posted on Main Page The Lobby  Does anyone know how to get rid of those annoying and stupid Google ads that have begun to appear on Lucianne? I installed their opt out program that apparently is just a ruse because they continue to pop up every day, especially in the evening. That's just plain weird. Everything Google touches has caused a problem with my computer, including my email account. Maybe I should get a Mac?

Gram77  This peeks my curiosity. I get none of this on Lucianne, just big spaces where ads used to be. Guess I should consider myself lucky.

Mildred  Gram...I use AdFender and that helped for a short time. I also get the big spaces but sometimes they now have ads. I wonder how they get on my computer. I use Internet Explorer 11 and regularly clear the cookies and temp files. I've had problems with my ISP in the past and don't take chances anymore. I also run CCleaner if my computer seems to be running slowly. I thought I finally got rid of the ads. Now if I could only stop all those robocalls!
