Tulsa posted on Main Page The Lobby  Be advised. I wrote Lucianne and thanked her for removing the ads. I just heard from her and she said:

'You are welcome. Some people get them. Some don't. They are so annoying.'

I asked Mrs. Lucianne a few questions about the ads and if she has the time to respond I will post her response here.

That is Miss Luci's email. Direct your comments about the ads to her. She is the only one who can do anything about them. I don't know a soul that like ads. And there have been many complaints here about them. I have no idea if Miss Luci takes the time to read here or not.

The ads were never here for a decade +/-? Then they were here and then they disappeared. Now they are back. I can't explain it.

Tulsa posted on Main Page The Lobby  Can anyone help Kono? See below. He/She is using Brave and getting ads intermittently.
I can't find a reason. Phooey? Lonestar Jack? Any Brave user.

I'm in Win. 10. Brave is supposed to work for Windows and Mac. TIA

The information about the Brave browser for NO ads has been on the Lobby Wall and on the Computer and Tech wall for months and months.

I checked and HopeandGlory has no email address under profile, so unless H&G checks back the message below posted by Phooey will never be seen.

I don't know what else to do to help get word out and about about this. If anyone has a suggestion, pls comment here. Sincere thanks and God Bless America and each of you.

Recorded The Intern last night and just watched a clip. My kind of movie.

These pertain to tv series: Elementary returns 5/1/18 YES! My favorite show on TV and 26 episodes at that. I'm elated! Ransom was canceled by CBS, but Season 2 has been ordered. This one is about an international hostage negotiator. Good cast and show. 2018 return date tba. CBS is also remaking Cagney and Lacey and Magnum, PI.

Gram77  Saw The Intern today. I don't know the name of the gal but she is so cute and very good and DiNero was really great. Good movie for a rainy day.

Tulsa posted on Movies & Reviews  From a Phantom Thread review:

Suffice it to say, everything that seems unusual in the moment makes perfect sense after a while, but even then, it may be up to the audience to decide whether Phantom Thread is the greatest or most horrifying movie romance of the year. You won’t know for certain until you see it for yourself, and give it a good, long think afterwards.

Interested in seeing it. I am not.

StormCnter  Tulsa, after your comment, I looked up this film and found a review in Variety that is a little more informative. I have a hard time warming up to Daniel Day Lewis, so I probably won't see this one either. Thanks for the tip.

Tulsa  FYI, Satellite Direct (DirecTV guide ) arrived yesterday. Lady Bird and Darkest Hour and others are On Demand the end of February.

I believe the Vanity Fair article may have been the first article I read. I 'feel' bad ju ju concerning that film and others. Can not watch 'Billboards'. Trailer language was filthy and totally unnecessary, imo.

Tulsa posted on Computers &Tech Issues  Kono, I download Brave a year + ago. My screen looks very different than what you describe. I don't have 3 dots. I don't have a payment ? tab anything like it. I was getting a make Brave your default browser when I opened it and I clicked on the on/off icon and deleted that little window.

It does seem when I first downloaded there was a payment option tab at the top. I think I right clicked and deleted it.

I can not think of anything else to help at the moment. I wish you no problems fine tuning this browser. It's an easy one, even for me. Long may be browse ad free!

Kono  I just posted a reply to this, and nothing. Not sure what is the malfunction there.

But the practical upshot was
1. thanks
2. been using brave for weeks now
3. ads showed up there today, too.
4. oh well. (dagnabit )

Kono  I had hoped paying fifty bucks a year to the bandwidth beast would be enough to browse ad-free here. It's more than enough for many other sites, and I still don't pay them.

Perhaps I'll just stop visiting sites that relentlessly ad-harass their readers (or give up the increasingly-unbearable internet, altogether ).

Kono  And then as suddenly as ads started showing up in my Brave browser window, it stopped. Sorry for reacting prematurely...

Tulsa  The DirecTV site requires I turn on 3rd party cookies to browse. They are under 'shields' btw and also under 'edit/settings/shields'.

I thought I reversed it when I left the site. I clicked Luci and had ads. Argh!. At Luci I clicked the Brace icon and turned off the cookies and clicked reload at the bottom. It happened twice more- ads. So I went to Edit, settings, shields and found the problem. I had missed one box. I had not reversed the cookie thing.

Just missed it entirely. No ads. I happens when I'm in a hurry. I totally agree with you about ads. They drive people away. I record everything on tv and FF thru ads.

Tip. I have one solitaire game(in Win. 10 ) that has flashing ads down the side. Flashing for crying out loud! I cut a narrow piece of black paper from junk mail and I tape it on the screen when I play that game. It's bliss. Otherwise I would have to delete the game.

Best wishes, Kono.

Tulsa posted on Main Page The Lobby  Kono, how to find poster comments. Click on the poster moniker (underlined in blue ). It is hot. It will show all comments and responses. That's the only way I know to search at The Connection.

Kono  Thanks for the response and effort to help, Tulsa. That works great if there happens to be a comment from that user at-hand.

For what was initially presented as a place where Ldotters could chat (sort of a salon/saloon for conservatives as an alternative for the liberal wasteland of fakebook ), it seems weird that this doesn't even have as much search capability as the mother site does...

Tulsa  I understand the problem. It helps if you have some idea on which wall the Ldotter you seek comments. Then with a little patience, click next page and go back one page at a time until you find that Ldotter. If it's important you find them, that's my only suggestion. If anyone else has another suggestion, I am always and forever happy to learn.

Kono, there are so many walls and there are so many articles. I know which Ldotters are always found at the Movies & Reviews Wall. They also post at Lucianne and on other walls. But I don't visit many of the walls here.

I hope your search is successful.

Tulsa posted on Movies & Reviews  Has anyone seen Hidden Figures? I want to see that and I want to see Can You See Me Now 2.

Neither is available to 'rent' at DirecTV. We don't have smart TVs, tho they are newish flat screens. My dental hygienist said she bought a smart DVD player which made her unsmart TV smart. She also said I could live stream to our tv if I buy a ? dongle ?lol and sign up with Netflix or one of the others. I am so out of my league concerning these matters. Being severely right brain has its disadvantages, tho I would not wish to be otherwise.

Seeing Helen Hunt below prompted me to look up the ending of Mad About You. character in the show was Murray the dog. Bonk!

Tulsa  Also, Bill Paxton had a new tv series this year that I was enjoying. He was an excellent actor. I never knew his name until he suddenly and sadly died last year. He was honestly liked by fellow actors.

I had not remembered him in any of the movies to which he was credited.

MeiDei  Hold on - it says it's free - but must be a one-time connecting experience because there is a charge for this service...I don't know the amount or if it's worth it. Read the terms of service agreement.

Tulsa  Thank you, Mei. I would probably have to give them a credit card #. It's not the $. It's the safety aspect.

There is another website I found that is supposedly live streaming free, but I must provide my email. It's Vimeo. I searched the web and it is supposedly safe, but who knows.

I think DVD's or DVR or whatever they are and dongles and subscriptions, etc. are not worth 2 movies. If I wait a year or maybe 2 they will be on TV.

Thank you again, Mei. Best wishes to all...stay warm and well.
