Tulsa

Tulsa posted on Main Page The Lobby  Emmylou Harris has a special on PBS 8/11. I only know her from Trio with Dolly and Linda, which I heard on my way to play bridge with a friend.

The song she does in this article is not my cup of tea. https://tinyurl.com/y95opxjd

Wetenschapper  Really? I think she does quite an admirable job of it, if one ignores the underlying social-justice intimations. I've been a fan of Harris since the late 70's (my picture to left is more than a decade old! )and despite her, um, mature voice lacking some of the heart-tweaking nuance it had forty years ago, it's still quite competent.

Tulsa  I don't believe I would like the song by anyone. I could not understand the words. It was sad sounding and slow.

I know her only from Trio and liked her enough to record the 2 hr special mentioned above. I hope you enjoy it.

Tulsa posted on Coffee Klatch  Flaming Sword. I called locally and found that SHIIP is not called SHIIP in each State. It's called SHINE in FL. It's called OSHIIP in OK, etc. But by calling the 800 number I listed below, they can give you the 'SHIIP' office in your city or state and that office can tell you if there is a senior org in your city that helps you enroll in Part D or answer any and all Medicare questions about supplemental ins or anything else.

Our pharmacy is too busy too help, tho they would certainly do so if asked.

Do I have to pay Brave to block ads?

No. Brave is a browser that blocks ads by default, and it will always be free. If you can afford to support your favorite sites we encourage you to try Brave Payments, but you do not have to pay to use Brave.

Tulsa posted on Movies & Reviews  Delayed reaction to movie walk out question. Alien. As soon as it burst out, I was in the lobby for the remainder of the movie. I never wanted to see it, but was out voted at the ticket counter by the others. Tulsa doesn't do blood and guts; horror or disasters.

StormCnter  I saw Alien and didn't think much of it. But, I am not much of a sci-fi fan anyway. My whole family loved the Star Wars stuff and Close Encounters, but me...not so much. However, I loved E.T. and The Martian.
But I enjoy disaster movies.

I've been playing with Mei's (I think ) puzzles at the coffee klatch wall. Found stuff not listed. Didn't find stuff listed. I have been entertained all day. Thank you each and every one.

Tulsa  Not, very not, into horror movies.

I love the light, not the darkness.

I know there is a big audience for The Walking Dead, SciFi, and Comic Heroes. Those have no appeal to me. I don't like sports either. I also don't like square dancing!

GO3  I'm not into the vampire stuff or typical slasher movies. A good horror movie makes use of your imagination more than blood and guts. The Haunting is a good example. Compared to today's trash, Alien was not the gory (except for one or two scenes ) and made use of shadows and slick cuts to let us draw our own conclusions.

New browser, by Mozilla creator. No ads, it says. No cookies, it says. See what you think. Can't tell if it's still in beta testing or not. It appears payment is optional. Just found it. Would love your opinions. TIA

StormCnter  Tulsa, I downloaded it, installed it but it won't let me access Lucianne.com because of a certificate problem. I tried all the work arounds and then gave up. It was worth a try and I thank you for the suggestion.

Tulsa  I'm in Brave as I type. Trying to sort all the set up info. I am not a tech. I successfully transferred favorites, etc. MicroS keeps trying to default to Edge. Fixed that. Had ads at Luci. Deleted all cookies...no ads. Do not know if this will hold or will work. But will let you and everyone know.

It may be working for me bc I'm in Win 10 and you are still using 7. I have no idea. After I downloaded I had to 'set up' download. I'm still learning and working on it.

Tulsa  Storm, Luci's certif has been bad for so long I can't remember. I get that error message in FF, but not Edge and not in Brave. I just ignore the warning and log in. But to be blocked, I don't know what to tell you.

StormCnter  I'm still working on it, Tulsa, uninstalling and reinstalling with different browsers. We'll see. I'd never gotten the certificate message before, but Brave wouldn't let me "ignore".

Tulsa  I know you can do it. I lost all FF bookmarks trying to delete just one site...aaargh...and had to reload them. Took seconds. I don't know what I'm doing. Still no ads at Luci. There is a 'payments' page with this browser which I am ignoring. I think? it's optional.

There are things built into this browser, such as a flash player. It's much like FF basically to set up only there are fewer options as they are assuming you do not want cookies, or to be tracked or ads, if that makes any sense.

In order to get no ads at Luci, I am accepting 'no' cookies on the drop down Brave icon.

Things load much faster without ads. Also the ads are tied to malware. There is a short video on the Brave homepage. I watched it.

Also when I downloaded, a green screen slowly covered the FF icon. So it maybe building on FF. Then I went to downloads and dbl clicked and set up.

I need a nap. My hair hurts! lol...I'll check back

StormCnter  Tulsa, I've been messing with Brave for a couple of days now and cannot get past the Certificate Error for Lucianne. Brave's Community forum indicates several people are having trouble with certificate errors for various sites. There is apparently no fix for it. I'll leave Brave installed, but I won't try to use it again for a while.

Tulsa  That warning signing in has been there a very long time. I wrote Luis, but he never responded. Maybe if you write him, it will help. Every ID and password is in danger if Lucianne's certif is outdated.

I'm in Brave and I can login. I can login using Edge and there is no warning, but I get the warning using FF, but am still able to log in.

I'm going looking for the forum you mentioned. There is no help at Brave that helps...it's all tech talk in code. I have chosen no list for the adblock feature. It has to be preloaded??? There is no list for 'USA'. I'm not allowing any cookies in order to block ads and don't even know why that is working. ...but I'll take it until further notice.

I think? Brave is still in Beta testing. Or they are working out the bugs. That may be the same thing. This is over my head.

Tulsa  We like windows. Besides, we don't even qualify as casual users, so can't justify the price of an iMac and we would need 2.

Had a tech over last evening who is very reasonable. He installed Office 365 for us. For $99, you get 5 downloads for 5 different devices each install from the Windows Store. I shopped everywhere and that is a deal. I shared one download with the laptop and still have 3 more to share. Will contact family in SC...I know only 1 that uses Windows.

Tulsa  GO3, were you as surprised as I at the deal MS has on Office 365? I priced it at Amazon, Walmart, Best Buy, etc. and no one could touch $99 for 5 downloads with 5 devices each download.

Never thought I would 'rent' software.

If you want your address book, last name first, I spent considerable time searching the web and found 'how to'. Of course the instructions left out steps the writer assumed everyone knows. It was not easy. Then I noticed an initial or initials in a gray circle on email on the desk and laptop and circuit designs on the laptop. So off I went to find how to remove it. Found that too. Saved the links if you want info.

Kono  It's still possible to get Office 2013 on Amazon, if you want a version that you can own, instead of rent (like 365 ).

I got the Pro version two years ago there. Enabling the license took a call to customer support (I gave the product license key over the phone, and they enabled it remotely ). It's worked without a hitch ever since.

Tulsa  Mainstream support for 2013 ends April, 1018 and extended supports ends 2023, assuming we can trust MS. We couldn't when they told us how long Win. 7 would last. Best wishes, Kono.

Tulsa posted on Computers &Tech Issues  Mei. Under your security settings, change the bubble from 'warn' to 'block'. I have Windows Defender in Win. 10. In Win. 7, it was MSSE (MS Security Essentials ). If you're bounced you know a site is infected. Just try the site later. Luci was for a time, constantly under attack.

StormC. can help you as much as I can, imo.
