Ynaught  Minutes after this shot was taken, 48 seasoned citizens, my husband and I included, were in this water, splashing and laughing and having the time of our lives! It was like the pool scene from Cocoon! It is so hot and the water, one of the few crocodile free pools in the area, was so refreshing!

Ynaught  Today we saw crocodiles in the Alligator River! There are no alligators in Australia, but the guy who named the river, didn't know that and no one has ever bothered to change the name. This is in Kakadu National Park which is apparently listed as the third most beautiful park in the world, or something like that. It is gorgeous here. We are staying in a hotel that is shaped like a croc! The croc in the photo is about 4 meters long and is thought to have recently taken over another male's territory. The older croc was found quite dead with teeth marks all over his head. And so it goes...

Ynaught  Speaking of trains - we took The Ghan from Alice Springs to Darwin! We had a sleeper compartment and the meals were definitely fine dining with linen table cloths and napkins placed in our laps by the attentive staff! I expected to see Agatha Christie in the bar car! It was a wonderful trip. We stopped in a town called Katherine for a couple hours. We were able to go on a boat ride into the Nitmuluk Gorge. It was a nice way to break up an almost 24 hour train ride!

Ynaught  We had quite a few dingoes surrounding our dinner party. They are waiting for scraps as we were warned not to try to feed them, especially by hand. They are very handsome creatures. The camels get nervous when they are around, but the dingoes keep their distance from the big guys.

Ynaught  We took a camel ride to an outback barbecue dinner. Loved the ride except for when camel gets down or back up. Then it's like riding a bucking bronco almost!

Ynaught  There are more camels in Australia than anywhere else in the world. They are regularly shipped to the mideast to be used as food and transportation. I liked them as transportation!

Ole buzzard  For someone who loves to travel by train, this could quite possibly be my complete bucket list, although the Agawa Canyon trip is no more because the railroad that ran it went belly up.

Ynaught  My honey and I are enjoying the Red Center of Australia right now. Uluru, or Ayers Rock is in the background. It is so massive! The weather has actually been cool as clouds, rare for this part of the continent, have kept the previously forecast 100+ degree heat at bay!
