Pomom  Thank you, Duchess. I love ''savory'' style sweet potatoes and am tired of the traditional butter, brown sugar, pecan, sweet style. Can't wait to try it!!

MayDay  I don't know how savory this is but for kicks sometimes I add grated fresh garlic and grated fresh ginger to my mashed sweet potatoes along with salt & pepper. Everyone likes them this way for a change.

Jrmax13  Oooh, yummy! This is a dressed-up version of a soup I made many years ago on those cold, snowy days on the East coast. Duchess, thanks for reminding me of it. It will be just perfect for this chilly weather.

Duchess posted on Main Page The Lobby  Jrmax-Reagan was a Democrat as were others. I am for seeing how things play out with all the nominees. Are you are saying that Perry is worse than Obama? That's hard to believe.
I will vote for whoever our nominee is against Obama because I care about this country and where it is headed.
October 30 at 20:39 EST .

Jrmax13  Hey there Duchess! I was not suggesting that Perry is worse than Obamski. That would be literal impossibility, my dear. A write-in is always an option I suppose. I have never gone that route before. Thankfully, there remains 53 weeks before final decisions come into play.

StormCnter  I've read through your comments about Rick Perry and I would offer the following (BTW, my family has been in Texas for 150 years ). I get really tired of people who hint about really bad stuff yet to come out about a candidate. If you've got something specific, then state it. As for "most Texans do not exhibit this blind loyalty to Perry because we KNOW about him", it seems those same Texans keep electing him. Rick Perry is not perfect, but he is one of the two declared candidates I would enthusiastically support. I have sent money to his campaign. What position does he hold that you disagree with?
October 31 at 08:17 EST .

StormCnter  I'm assuming you know the facts of the in-state tuition for illegal applicants who have lived in Texas for three years. This is something we can disagree on, but there is a good argument to be made for the law. Remember, the law passed the state legislature with only four dissenting votes and affects only 1% of Texas college students. The "binational" health insurance proposal is widely supported by those who have taken the trouble to research it. Forbes magazine touted it as an innovative proposal to alleviate the disastrous health care problems along the border and included only PRIVATE insurers, not the state or federal government. You may like it or not, but it had zero to do with some sort of globalization.

Now what is this "truth" that is yet to come out about Perry?
October 31 at 09:03 EST .

ALynnMcW  Thank you StormCnter, these are the arguments I have with my other half. I may use your words next time so maybe he would listen to me. Don't know how long for sure my people have been in Texas but at least as far back as 1899. One of the high points of my years here was skipping class and attending Gov. Clements inauguration after working on his campaign. Gov. Perry isn't perfect but Texas knows that and elected him. I hope the rest of the country can see what we see.

Foggybottom  StormCnter, as you know we've had some differences of opinion in the past but I agree with you completely about Rick Perry's actions as governor. I am a native Texan whose family has been here since 1851. I enthusiastically support Governor Perry for president and he is most definitely a conservative. There has been a large Hispanic component of Texas citizenship since its inception and they receive consideration at all levels of Texas government. I suppose Perry is guilty of this as charged.
