Jerseytomato  I am posting a prayer request for my dear friend, Kenny. Devoted husband, and loving father to three amazing young adults.

Not long ago, Kenny retired from the NYPD. He was at ground zero during 9-11, and played bagpipes at many of the funerals that followed.

Doctors recently found spots on his lungs, and he is waiting for scan results. He's never smoked, and my friend fears that the effect of breathing the air at ground zero may have caught up to him. It's a scary time right now for Kenny and his family as they wait for diagnosis.

Kenny, his family, and I am asking for your prayers. May God have mercy on us all.

MeiDei  Last year at this time I had a very slim chance of surviving the night, and few could only hope I would. Obviously God isn't done with me yet and I live to celebrate another birthday today. Thanks to Him and all my friends, strangers & family members whose prayers held me up for so many months - PTL always and never give up hope!

Safetydude  This is my first post on this wall.
I believe faith is a private matter and I don't share it, but today something happened that reinforced my faith and I do want to share that.
About a week ago, my wife, 'Miss Tina', had bad fall while retrieving our blown away garbage can. She fell on her lower back and also hit the back of her head. Even 'tho she was in was pain two days passed before she would let me take her to the hospital. When we got there her blood chemicals were totally screwed up and her liver had stopped working, etc. She wound up in the ICU with a dozen tubes in her.
For three days she was mostly comatose and incoherent, rambling and squirming so she had to have restraints put on her wrists. As I sat at her bedside trying to call her back she did not get any better. There were some moments when she settled down and it looked like maybe she was sleeping.

This afternoon her sister called me after her first visit and agreed with me that it seemed pretty hopeless. By this time I had already talked to Miss Tina's doctors and we had basically agreed that if there was not a marked improvement in the next two-three days she would be transferred to a Hospice.
Early this evening I went back to sit with her and like a miracle she had periods where she was 'almost' lucid. I talked to her and asked her what her name was and she answered and I asked what her friends called her and she answered that. One of the nurses asked her how old she was and what year we were in, which she also answered. After every answer she smiled like she was proud of her herself.
After about an hour, or so, I went home and called my sister-in-law and told her what had happened and she made me repeat every thing and then she asked me, pretty point blank, if I was lying to her.
That took me back a bit, and I said no, I'm telling you what happened.
My sister-in-law then said she had prayed over Miss Tina and had anointed with oil.
Later I went back to say good-night to my wife and she smiled and and said she wanted to come home. Tomorrow is another day but now my faith is re-enforced and I know we'll be ok.
This may be a bit rambling but I want it down quickly while it's fresh in my mind.
I believe God made it happen through my sister-in-law.

He watches over us, Safetydude. It is my prayer that your wife has continued to improve since your post.

Safetydude  This is a follow-up on my post about Miss Tina.
She passed away within two weeks of my post and less than three weeks before our 37th Wedding Anniversary.
My life ended that January day and I'm trying to re-organize my days without my Darling Wife beside me.
Than you all for your thoughts.

BirdsNest  This Thursday marked the one year anniversary of my beloved Hagar's passing. A rough week for sure. I spent the day in mostly silence asking friends to refrain from calling or texting me. I spoke only a few words to the lady at the funeral home when I went by to pay on my bill. Otherwise I just reflected on life and love. I am blessed with many friends.

BirdsNest  Thanks Hope. Earlier that week I got a call from a lady that used to have our UPS route. She is retired but she saw a man in a local diner that had a ponytail that triggered a remembrance of Hagar and she was moved to phone me. Hagar was fond of her and she of him. Its times like that that grab my heart. Folks that get reminded of him and share......

MeiDei  It's good for you to share/talk about him, part of the healing process. Sometimes we even learn something special from others that may surprise, delight or explain an unknown. I believe God provided the prompt & moved that lady to call you - & am glad she did. Consider it a blessing upon which more will be added to.

StormCnter  The heartache of losing someone we love never goes away, but I have read that after the first year anniversary, it's a bit easier to face the important days in your life because it's no longer the "first without". I hope that is true for you. Precious memories are a solace, but you already know that.
