Phooey  I use Win10, Firefox and ABP.... NO ADS!.... ONLY when I remember
to open Firefox(to Goggle ) then Minimize that link .... then open
Firefox to Lucianne. ABP does not work well with only one session open.

Waving to Surfie, Wrightwinger, EC, ah heck! too many to name.....

Escaped commieny  How is Paige ? Email me and waves back at you. L
Yesterday at 16:17 EST .

Tulsa  Not working for me. I can remove ads by clicking refresh.

Any idea what I may be doing wrong? If I follow your instructions, I have two tabs...google and Lucianne and the ads are all over the home page.

Thx Phooey.

Phooey  Tulsa, I right click on the picture,image/frame, a window pops up asking either/or both...

Adblock Plus: Block frame...
Adblock Plus: Block image...

Click on either....
Another window pops up.... asking Add filter?

Click Add filter.

Do this for each picture/frame.
If this info with my orig. post does not work... we may have different versions of ABP ??

Anyway, you and others have suffered enough. Blessings.

EC, Page is fine now. Long story. I'll be in touch. We moved back to New Port Richey from The Villages. We are still not unpacked (living out of boxes ) Aaarrggg!!

Tulsa  Phooey...those are the original instructions I found and posted here months and months ago. ...a year ago. I only had to clean them once and the ads never returned until a few weeks ago.

Now the ads are back and the right click, etc. worked part of two ads which is a far cry from the mess on the home page. They are such trashy ads.

If I click refresh, the ads disappear, but I must do that every time I come to Luci's...That is far better than no options.

It seems back as far as 2011/13 ABP agreed to white list ads that don't move/flash and they are being paid for it. I'm not certain why it took this long for ads to appear here, but ABP can no claim to block ads, imo. No ads are acceptable to me. It was free. It's still free, but worthless, imo.

Thank you. I'm happy it's still working for you.

StormCnter  Just for additional information on the Firefox discussions: I have three browsers, but have mostly used Chrome recently. Today, Chrome was very slow, so I switched to Firefox. There were no...I repeat NO ugly ads on the Lucianne home page. I have AdBlockPlus for Firefox, but took no additional steps for the Lucianne home page.
Bliss is not having to look at toenail fungus ads or the horrific ruined celebrity faces.

Tulsa  In FF with ABP there were no ads Sunday. Yesterday and today there are ads on the homepage and any article page I selected. I click refresh and they disappear. The refresh does not hold. I've emailed ABP repeatedly and given my email. No response so far.

Tulsa  There is a reason for no response from ABP. They accept some ads and are paid for them.

I've searched hi and lo bout removing these ads. There are articles dated 2011-2013 that ABP white listed non intrusive ads. (ads that don't move, flash, etc ) It's not an ad blocker if some ads are acceptable now is it?

They are being compensated for the white listed ads and several articles read the consumer can block all ads by going to filter preferences, then filter subscriptions and unchecking 'allow some non intrusive etc'. It's a lie. The ads were still at Lucianne.

There's an article that says by disabling java script ads will not appear. I'm not savvy enough to try that.

AdFender has an annual fee ?19.95.

I right clicked on the ads on the Luci homepage and a few disappeared and it did nothing to others. I restarted and I currently have no ads. ???? This might drive me round that famous bend.

How I have been without ads since 2011 or 2013 when ABP began accepting payment for white listed ads I do not know.

I can still click refresh and remove the ads. That is far better than nothing. 'Cause nothing may be next.

StormCnter  Tulsa, it's easy to disable Java in your browser. I've never done it because I tend to think Java is useful. But, if you want to disable it and experiment with the result, go to Windows (lower left of your screen )/ All Programs/ the Java folder/ Configure Java/ Security and take the check mark out of Enable Java in the browser at the top left of the Security screen. Then Save or Ok. It's easy to go back and put the check mark back if you are not happy with results.

Tulsa  Thank you. You are correct. I can undo it.

uh...but..I'm in Win. 10. Can't even find Windows, much less 'all programs'. lol Nothing and I mean nothing is where it was or labeled as it was in 7.

I will cut and paste the instructions and I will then search hither and yon for the correct settings, since hi and lo was semi fruitless.

Tulsa  Storm, to use FF again:

I had two problems with FF. The instructions below stop FF asking your location. Go to this link:

https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/geolocation/

Scroll down to' How do I turn off Location-Aware browsing permanently?' Click and follow the directions. It's short and sweet...easy peasy.

____________

The first set of instructions I posted was for another problem. ... the one that involved typing %7C in the homepage slot in Internet options....I confused my notes and I apologize to you and everyone else.
April 21 at 17:30 EST .

StormCnter  There are never apologies necessary for offering advice, my good friend. People can always take it and use it or pass by it. You're always helpful and I thank you.

Tulsa  There was a thread discussion on the main board that Lucianne may have read. (Article about google adding ad blocker to chrome. )

I know people are coming to Lucianne seeing that mess and leaving...not commenting, not posting articles.

In FF with ABP enabled, I clicked 'refresh' and the ads disappeared, but I must do that every time I leave and come back.

I don't know if Lucianne was even aware they were there. I email Luis, but I doubt I was the only one. By doing inspect element, I could see over half of the ads were by google, spymaster supreme.

Tulsa  Storm, the correct way to stop location warnings by FF and use that browser again is below under the comment from Mike in PHX.

Also you were mentioned on the Computer wall about MS updates. I haven't seen you here recently, so I answered for you. Pls make certain I stated your words correctly.

Bmoc  Hopefully I am posting this in the proper place. My fifth audio book was just released a few days back. This one is a children's book for kids and adults alike. It was a tale told to me by my seven-year-old grandson and is about the love between the two of us. It's also in e-book and paperback form on Amazon. This story is only 50 minutes long and sells for $3.95. You don't need a special tablet, or device as you can listen from your pc or device. The name of the story is "Johnny Robot - Space Alien." http://tinyurl.com/nyy3kb4

Thanks for reading!

Tulsa  In Firefox with ABP installed, click refresh and the ads disappear. If I leave and return, the ads return. Click refresh and they are gone. I have no idea what is going on....but I did report the problem to ABP once.

I posted on the main page on an article about chrome adding adblocker and on the Computers wall, but know more will see this info here.

Tulsa  I found this note yesterday and realized I gave other directions to stop the FF share your location message. I have done both the above and the other info I shared to this pc.

Also Att only provided some of the info needed to block unwanted calls. Immediately after an unwanted call, press *61 THEN turn on the phone (we have a cordless phone with a landline ). You will hear 3 short tones, then a delay (so wait! ), then a message the number has been blocked.

Att's site directions mixes directions for blocking on the cordless phone with on line site blocking. Not helpful at all.

Anonymous calls may be blocked by pressing *77, turn the phone one and wait for a message.

Tulsa  It's *61#, but att did not tell anyone that. It's also *77# and that is one time only for anonymous calls. The *61# is after every call to be blocked.
