Tulsa posted on Movies & Reviews  How do I post a picture? The way I learned is invalid. The html tags are not accepted here, but I can't make heads or tails of the code that runs across the top of the page. Do I use some of it or all of it? It goes too fast.

I tried to post the old code I used, but my entire comment did not 'take'. Thank you.

StormCnter  Tulsa, if you're just posting a regular photo, a .jpg or something, I save them to my computer (usually in Pictures ), then post them here by using the Choose File button. We can't post a photo directly from the Internet.
But, if the photo is something other than a .bmp, a .png or a jpg it might not post accurately. I run into that all the time. Do you know how to convert a photo?
Wednesday at 13:53 EST .

StormCnter  If you're posting a video, take the s out of the https when you copy and paste the url.
Wednesday at 13:55 EST .

Tulsa  It begins img and ends.jpg with numbers in between. it was sent from my sil in SC. She probably found it at facebook...just guessing.

I can not save it to my other pictures. I tried that. Nope on converting a photo. I think I'll just pass.

It's too funny. Two little girls (playing baseball ) and laughing about the fit one Daddy had when she missed a catch. I mean their expressions are hilarious.

Tulsa posted on Movies & Reviews  I watched Saving Mr. Banks last night. Long. Boring. Sad. And interesting how 'she' responded to commands as in 'get on the horse' and 'sit down'.

Hello everyone. Have a wonderful day and don't forget to Spring Forward! We just have a bit more of this cold to endure.

StormCnter  Good morning, Tulsa. I haven't seen that film, but only for lack of opportunity. It got really good reviews. I'm always happy to see a contrary opinion. Thanks for sharing.

MeiDei  Not having seen it either, the old curiosity kicked in - Here's one overview:
- an interesting read. Another told of how the author was miffed at neglecting to mention her being a mother. She adopted a baby twin boy, never told him he was adopted - he met his twin in a pub when he was 17 and supposedly stopped all contact with her.

Tulsa  It was on tv around the time of the Olympics, so I recorded it...likely on the Paramount Channel. I saw the rating. I watched the trailer. It was 2:45 min. I was able to ff thru commercials. So it was about 2 hrs. My tolerance for sadness is extremely low.

This am I read the wiki on Saving Mr. Banks. As usual, much of the movie wasn't even true. That did not change the sad factor.

Tulsa posted on Main Page The Lobby  Kono. Lucianne's word is gold to me and should be to you and all of us. Lucianne said it is a form of theft if you read her response. The culprit is google, imo. I'm in FF right now and there are no ads on the homepage.

I know javascript can be turned off to stop ads, but I have been told it causes many problems and is not a good idea. My javascript is on.

Comment from the Brave Community:Thanks for the feedback, @PlyFlower!
We did have a severe bug in our last release which could affect performance. A new patch was just released about 10 minutes ago which fixes this issue in particular
I see these problems and cannot believe we are discussing the same browser.

I like Hugh Grant. Music and Lyrics was fun.

Watched Oblivion with Tom Cruise….never saw the near ending or the real ending coming. I was entertained. No nightmares either

Hanging Up looking like fun.

Watched Unstoppable with Denzel Washington and Chris Pine...action packed, but no nightmares. I can not watch horror or anything anxiety producing. I will not watch.

These are cut and paste from 3 places. I can not tell from links if I have the correct ones anywhere near the movie titles, but there is enough info for you to search if you are interested. I did the best I could. Why the difficulty I can not explain.

We've already discussed Nobody's Fool and IQ which are on my list to see eventually.

Tulsa  Grant has some age on him in this one and I think he looks wonderful. Watch during the credits as there are several paragraphs as to what happened to difference characters. I think the man plays himself. I like him. I will watch it for the second time tonight will I restock things to view.

I don't care for Cruise either, but/and I also watched Mission Impossible 3 last week. Desperation will do that to a person! I recorded several things I would not have normally watched as I don't watch the O's. Regular programming is off for 3 long weeks.

That's a lot of time to fill. My attention span is more 30 minutes to 1 hr, so I prefer tv shows to movies. And that is me recording everything I watch and fast forwarding thru commercials.

I don't know if any of you good people are the least bit interested, but there are two shows I recommend. Restored by the Fords (a brother and sister ) on HGTV. (She is the best decorator I have ever seen. ) Fresh. Different. Modern. Her favorite color is white.

And Restored on DIY with Bret Waterman(sp ) who is a tall drink of water. He's a preservation specialist who wears a cowboy type hat, bermuda shorts and black ankle socks and loves his job. Has a great crew and does incredible work. Cutest personality. He cracks me up. 'Dood!' or 'It a big improvement.' Right?'

Tulsa posted on Main Page The Lobby  Email to Mrs. Luci and response to me:
'So they(ads ) are not your doing? Um, I mean to say…they are not there with your permission? I will certainly post that at the connection lobby.

Ldotters think you have approved them or are allowing them for pay. None of us have any way of knowing.

Thank you for responding and so promptly too.'

Respone: 'Oh, my no. We hate them and complain to our tech people all the time. If anything, it costs us money because we lose readers.

Please tell our Connection friends it is a form of theft and we hate it too.
Best, Lucianne.'

Kono  The "examine element" tool in firefox shows the ads to have the "blob: http:" syntax (the image path is "blob:
), which are supposedly javascript-generated and effectively hide the actual URL of the ads. This makes it look plausible that some other agent is inserting them into the html code without permission.

That said, I have had javascript disabled on my browser forever, making me suspect our gracious host of somehow camouflaging paid ads behind a veil of plausible deniability.

Does anybody here have enough web-tech chops to determine the advertising mechanism more definitively than that, though? I left tech 17 years ago, which makes my analysis dubious (or naïve, at best ).

Tulsa  Kono, in Firefox there site permissions, media and security, etc.

You get there by clicking the shield in the address line and then the arrow where it says site not secure and then 'more information' in the small windows that pops up.

My husband's laptop has a cap. G+ above the likes line on the homepage. That is google. google is notorious for placing ads without permission all over the internet. They just advertised they are eliminating 42% of them in their chrome browser. Oh nice of them. /s

I firmly believe the ads came back when the like button did. There is a link in media (see above ) that has google. I highlighted it, right clicked and deleted it and then blocked ads it by checking he box on the media page. This is very difficult to explain when I'm not looking at what I did or even in that browser at the moment. All the above was done in Firefox. On the homepage and then in the one must read article as I do not get ads using Brave.

If you check the box in 'media' to block ads on Lucianne and then block all site permissions the ads go away. You also lose ALL icons and pictures at The Connection.

Brave admitted having a bug about the 20th of Feb which has been corrected. See my post on the computer wall.

I see your comment below. I have no ads using Brave.

Does any of what I just typed help?

Kono  Interesting..... That google link appears to be totally hidden from view. What "added value" does it provide here, and at what cost?

But which LIKE button are you referring, Tulsa? Lcom's or twitter/facebook's?

Tulsa  The like button on the main site for comments on each article that was severly abused during the primaries to the point Lucianne removed it. Posters whined it was gone and there were many requests for it to be returned. Lucianne returned the like button at some point after the election.

This isn't facebook and I never liked the like button.

I mentioned my husband's laptop has a small bright red G+ above the 'click if you like this comment'. I clicked it and it says google. It does not appear on this desktop.

Kono  The only reason I like the 'like' link is that there are quite a few times I read a comment with which I agree, but find the accumulation of "good point", "amen", "yes", etc. comments extremely tedious to wade through in the effort to find other remarks.

I'm inclined to trust our gracious host's claim that the ads are neither sold nor invited, and grow yet another increment more distrustful of alphabet/google/satan. Together with social networking sites they have earned every ounce of antipathy directed their way.

Tulsa posted on Main Page The Lobby  Be advised. I wrote Lucianne and thanked her for removing the ads. I just heard from her and she said:

'You are welcome. Some people get them. Some don't. They are so annoying.'

I asked Mrs. Lucianne a few questions about the ads and if she has the time to respond I will post her response here.
