Struan

Struan posted on Coffee Klatch  It's only fitting that I jump in behind Ynaught's wonderful & en pointe parable and Mrs. C's good news. MiLady Struan has asked me to thank all the wonderful people here at The Connection for their kinds words, wishes & prayers for her & her family. She's a Chicago girl & a wonderful mixture of toughness, softeness & intelligence. She was truly & deeply touched by your graciousness and sincerity. She spends her day in front of a monitor and is generally too wiped to want to be near a computer but, she will, in the future register & log on The Connection and speak for herself. You all have exacted a conversion.

I am continually amazed at the genuine quality and basic human decency demonstrated by all of you and can only be thankful to be included in this wondrous & passing strange digital family. I wonder if even Lucianne & Joshua envisioned the depth & breadth that their creation would acheive. Forever thankful to the Goldbergs and all of you

Lynn has undergone seven seperate procedures since the shooting and is hanging in there. He is conversant enough to have unleashed a Navy Chief Petty Officer's tirade of blue language that ran a tresspassing reporter out of his hospital room with his liberal tail between his legs. He's still in critical condition and in ICU. If he survives, he will be severely handicapped and facing a very long regimen of rehabilitation. As any combat vet can attest - we feared being half-killed a lot more than being dead. No matter what Lynn's final condition turns out to be, the uncontrovertible fact is that one degenerate union hospital employee has destroyed two lives and adversely affected uncountable others. Times like these I'm a firm believer in an eye for an eye. Once again, we thank you all - (the pic is us in happier times - taken in a window reflection. )

Nugoddess  Brother Struan, I am very relieved to hear Lynn's progress and even happier to hear he is still on our side of the sod. Please relay our continued prayers and good wishes for that crusty old CPO (God love 'em! ) and that when Lynn is able, join us here on The Connection. I look forward to hearing from Lady Struan on this site as well.

If possible, please advise the local authorities to send that s.o.b. down here to Flori-duh - I have some extra-special 380 lead welcome fliers I would like to share with him.

Keep us posted and take care of yourself!

Surfhut  Dear Friend Struan and Lady Struan, we are indeed family. Both of you, Lynn, and all other people whose lives have been spun around by this will forever remain in our prayers. The thing that amazes me the most about our Connection Cyber Family is that we don't just give lip service to our love and support of each other. We mean it. It is real. You all remain in my prayers.

Rake King  Struan you are a genuine person that we all care about. When you hurt, we hurt. Life has it's joys and sorrows, the latter being a time we fall back on friends for support. Just as you stood tall for us during your active Marine duty, we are here for you now. Everyone who post on the Connection send you our love and friendship.

Evajeanne  Ah, Struan, how you have a way of saying things! Your Lady is lucky indeed and I look forward to "meeting" her.

Notwithstanding what finally happens, Lynn's having fought through 7 seperate procedures is awe-inspiring. Tonight I'll thank G-d for his even being in this world, ask Him to ease the recovery, and once again, tell Him how grateful I am to have even a tangental relationship (through you, my cyber-friend ) with such a man.

February 23 at 15:06 EST .

   Safetydude  Struan,
It may be just an AF thing. Most of us carry a 'Challange Coin', a special coin that represents something personal, as it relates to our career.
It started in Korea when the 'old guy' piolts' met the FNG's, usually in the club. The newbes thought they knew everything and the old guys didn't want to be offensive so when they described what they had learned north of the Yalu they would use the expression 'my nickel on the grass'. It became a tradition that tapping a nickel on the bar meant that you had been there and what you were going to may be worth listning to.
Now we use the coin tap to get a free drink. If somebody starts the tap and there is somebody at the bar without a 'coin' that person becomes the buyer. If you start the tap and everyone has a 'coin' you become the buyer. It helps to break the ice. Especially if you are a stranger.
Want to hear about 'body bowling' and 'dead bug'?
