Balogreene Isn't he beautiful? And you know what, if I decorated my living room in those colors, people would tell me they don't go together!!

BirdsNest The Lady Gouldian Finch is native to Australia. They are very popular with parrot owners, they are extremely beautiful, and they are lousy at raising their young. Many finch breeders use other finches to sit on the eggs and raise the young. They make some pleasing noises and are not loud.

BirdsNest Many Nursing Homes have a cage or flight of finches in the sitting area for the residents, they are calming to many. They are very active and come in so many different colours that a flight of them is quite pleasing. Personally I do not care for them, Hagar LOVES them. We have had them before and raised lots of babies-I even hand fed some with a spoon(crazy, I know ).
Balogreene Bird and Hagar, birds are pretty, but, are you telling me, you have one that begs like a cat or dog?

Hagar Actually more than one, 4 in the office and one in the work room. They know the sounds of a potato chip bag being opened, the smell of fresh popped popcorn. Do not even think about eating ANYTHING without sharing!!! The noise is incredible. They only get a tiny bit for a snack BUT you will offer it or else. I often eat in the work room and my plate is observed for foods that "Melvin" likes, there is quite a drama acted out if he does not get a wee bit of everything. He is a seafood addict, shrimp, scallops, crabmeat, and fish.(No to oysters ). Melvin is a Quaker parakeet with an extensive vocabulary and has 2 songs that he sings(Lullaby and You are my Sunshine. He sings them in his own way, in the 1st person. )
Magdalene Oh Y, these are great! I wish I had videos of our Border Collie mix, Kippy, gone now 12 years. (She was 15. ) She would sit by the dinner table & beg – but her eyes would start to droop, then close, and she'd be sitting there, sound asleep at full attention. What a character. But then, all our 4-footers have been. We've had 8 dogs in our 26 years of marriage, all but one of those who are gone lasted to 15, two of them to 17. Two are still with us, 7 & 8 years old. The other decided she needed to be a single dog, and after leaving us a litter of beautiful pups, one of whom we kept, went on to be a little girl's dog. Wish I could post pics from my iPad...
