Ynaught This is my "squirrel proof" feeder failure!

Gerty Bought new squirrel-proof bird feeders. They work. Now I find I have a new dependent at the feeders--a chipmonk! This little guy doesn't give up. He keeps filling his jowls with the seed, runs back to his burrow, returns for more. What a glutton!
He's a whole lot better looking than the squirrels but I think I miss cussing at them!

Eagles Dominion Gerty our chipmunks sit just below feeders and gather up the sunflower seeds the birds spill. Then they run around to all the planters and bury them. :- )

Ynaught What kind is your feeder, Gerty? I have been at war with my squirrels. I did get a very expensive feeder that seems to keep them off, but then was given another "squirrel proof" feeder that is keeping them fat and sassy! I am hoping the baffling I have made with hardware cloth might keep them off for a while, but I won't be surprised to see them chomping on the seeds soon.

Gerty Miss Y--have gotten rid of the packaging but will return to the feed store soon--will get information to you shortly.
The sqirrels do climb on to them but not able to feed directly from the column of seeds. After a while, they don't bother to return. The new feeders are a bit pricey but they have paid for themselves in sunflower seeds alone!

BirdsNest Believe it or not, ducklings will drown if they cannot get out of the water. I almost lost 2 last year. Now when it is time for the mom to hatch I put a rock in their water tub so the little ones can get out.
Gram77 Love that little face. Must say this baby doesn't look too formidable!

Balogreene Isn't he beautiful? And you know what, if I decorated my living room in those colors, people would tell me they don't go together!!

BirdsNest The Lady Gouldian Finch is native to Australia. They are very popular with parrot owners, they are extremely beautiful, and they are lousy at raising their young. Many finch breeders use other finches to sit on the eggs and raise the young. They make some pleasing noises and are not loud.

BirdsNest Many Nursing Homes have a cage or flight of finches in the sitting area for the residents, they are calming to many. They are very active and come in so many different colours that a flight of them is quite pleasing. Personally I do not care for them, Hagar LOVES them. We have had them before and raised lots of babies-I even hand fed some with a spoon(crazy, I know ).
