Wrightwinger  Thank you Veterans! A few years ago, I watched a Memorial Day Charlie Brown cartoon. Schultz did such a great job with the Christmas cartoon, that I was really looking forward to this one. In the program, they quoted a WWI poem by Lt. Col. John McRae entitled " In Flanders Field", with which I was familiar. It started off well, and honored the fallen troops. But at the end, the last part of the poem was omitted, the most important part. I believe I erupted from my chair in outrage! And listened to the bugle As taps began to play. The Chaplin led a prayer We stood with heads bowed low. And I thought of fallen comrades I had known so long ago. They came from every city Across this fertile land. That we might live in freedom. They lie here ‘neath the sand. I felt a little guilty My sacrifice was small. I only lost a little time But these men lost their all. Now the services are over For this Memorial Day.
