Gram77  3:32PM...8/21/14......Just saw the late breaking news at Lucianne. What does this mean? Is our beloved leader in trouble.

Safetydude  What was the breaking news?

Can you give us a re-cap, Gram.

Gerty  Is your use of 'beloved leader' written tongue-in-cheek, Gram?

Come on, please give us a hint. Or. Anyone else see the breaking news headline at Lucianne.com?

Gram77  Tongue-in-cheek? More like gagging. Shortly after the breaking news was removed, so was an excellent post concerning this news. About 15 posts down in the right column at Lucianne is an article but not near as good. The breaking news was that Obama was going to be looked at very closely as to the trade for Bergdahl and who should have been notified first and who was the next to pass this move on to Congress. You all know about this but this post was so good. Sorry, I should have remembered more of this or written it down but I had no idea it be gone as fast as it was up.

I didn't realize it was the WWW (wicked witch of the West ) until I enlarged the print---funny.

Bettijo  Imagine if during World War II American soldiers had fought and died in order to capture five ace Luftwaffe pilots. Then President Roosevelt ordered the pilots to be sent back to the Nazis so they could resume dropping bombs. That is exactly what Obama did against America in the Bergdahl “swap.” It was a treasonous act expressing the rage he carries, which he focuses against Bush's war on terrorism.

Charles Krauthammer explains Obama as the President who wants to end war. But the organizing principle of Obama's military policy is to end the Iraq war in defeat for America. Obama is driven by an obsessive resentment, conscious and unconscious, against a delusional evil white patriarchy, which causes him to help America's enemies. Above all, Obama was driven to lose the war in Iraq to claim victory over Bush, the ideal foil for his idée fixe.

Lonestar Jack  I my day with the 82nd A/B div -- if you walked off your post or were judged to be AWOL you were thrown in the stockade immediately on return or capture.
For the life of me I can't see why Bergdal is still walking around and being coddled by the brass.

Wrightwinger  Probably on the wrong wall... Sorry if that bothers anyone. But I saw this picture today on FB and as I looked at it closely, the expressions on their faces and the determination and the joy on their faces humbled me. And I spend way too much time grumbling, and not enough time being thankful. I need to work on that...

Alice  I agree that it's coming our way, and that makes me tired. There are many, many interesting things to do other than planning for an extended period of extremely limited movement. But it looks like it would be prudent to do such planning. Oh well.

Lonestar Jack  I was struck by two quotes from Englishmen from days gone by.

1. Lord Robert Baden-Powell who founded the Boy Scouts.
"Never do for a boy what he can do for himself". Take that you enabling parents.

2. Shakespeare -- you remember the archaic old guy you had to read about in school.“O God, that men should put an enemy in their mouths to steal away their brains!". Seems to be our current plight.

RoseOfTexas  Me too - on the main site not here. I think it's malware, not actually java. I just abandoned the site & check back once a day or so. It cleared up for me for most of today, then I just got it again a minute ago. Not the first time this has happened to me.

StormCnter  Another L-Dotter mentioned this problem to me in an email. I don't get the Java message. I use Chrome as my browser for Lucianne. Chrome disables Java on all sites, instead asking for permission from the user each time Java is required. You might give Chrome a try and then install AdBlock for Chrome.

Alice  I didn't hit it until yesterday and then sent a note to Luis, but since it's the weekend it might have to wait until tomorrow to get fixed.

It's still a problem this morning for my IE browser and Chrome, so I'll see about disabling Java on Chrome and look for Ad Block. The problem did take a little longer to kick in than it did yesterday.

I did an internet search on 'malware www.downrapid.com' without the quotes and saw that this malware has hit elsewhere, and others have also concluded that the problem is with a server ad rather than our PCs, unless we have allowed the downloads of course.

RoseOfTexas  I just installed Chrome & accessed the main site from there. Not even 5 minutes later here comes the java mess again. I'm refugeeing over to my other fave conservative site...will check back here for updates.

Alice  Thanks to StormCenter, I changed Chrome settings and the problem seems to have gone away!

The ad or whatever is causing the problem is not everywhere, so I went to Chrome's advanced settings, found the Privacy section, clicked on Content settings and where I have 'Allow all sites to run JavaScript' I have added an exception for Lucianne.com to block JavaScript. Or you can use the other button that says 'Do not allow any site to run JavaScript'. The latter blocks a lot of little videos, but that includes some ads you didn't want to hear while you were reading anyway.

Bettijo  Guess who was missing at funeral of highest ranking officer killed in combat since Vietnam War

U.S. Army Major General Harold Greene was buried today at Arlington National Cemetery with full military honors, including a caisson, two escort platoons, casket team, firing party, colors team, and a caparisoned horse. The U.S. Army band, “Pershing’s Own,” played softly as the funeral procession made its way down the long hill past the rows of simple white gravestones to bring General Greene to his final resting place.

The graveside service began with a few words, followed by a 13-gun salute. The major general’s widow, Dr. Susan Myers, was seated in the front row. To her right was their son 1st Lt. Matthew Greene, his daughter Amelia Greene, followed by Major General Greene’s father, also Harold Greene.

After three rifle volleys and the playing of “Taps,” the American flag, once placed on the major general’s casket, was carefully folded as the band played “America the Beautiful.” U.S. Army Chief of Staff Gen. Ray Odierno presented the flag to his widow, and additional flags to his children and father.

General Greene, 55, became the highest-ranking fatality in the war in Afghanistan after an Afghan military police officer opened fire on Aug. 5th, 2014.
