Hagarmeister  My fellow Nashvillian and friend sings a song he wrote in honor of those who gave all. Hope you enjoy. Happy Memorial Day!

Mildred  Does anyone know how to get rid of those annoying and stupid Google ads that have begun to appear on Lucianne? I installed their opt out program that apparently is just a ruse because they continue to pop up every day, especially in the evening. That's just plain weird. Everything Google touches has caused a problem with my computer, including my email account. Maybe I should get a Mac?

Gram77  This peeks my curiosity. I get none of this on Lucianne, just big spaces where ads used to be. Guess I should consider myself lucky.

Mildred  Gram...I use AdFender and that helped for a short time. I also get the big spaces but sometimes they now have ads. I wonder how they get on my computer. I use Internet Explorer 11 and regularly clear the cookies and temp files. I've had problems with my ISP in the past and don't take chances anymore. I also run CCleaner if my computer seems to be running slowly. I thought I finally got rid of the ads. Now if I could only stop all those robocalls!

RedWhiteBlue  To StormCnter... Well, I did it again. I ''refreshed'' my computer and lost my familiar sites and things. You instructed me the last time I did this to myself on how to get back my stuff. If you wouldn't mind...can you tell me again? I remember you said to click on the upper right hand line of pictured .... and that's all remember. Sigh! I have Firefox/Mozilla. I did find my ABP...YAY! So if you wouldn't mind going through all that with me again. I feel like a fool and probably look like one by now also. Thank you so much

StormCnter  No, you shouldn't feel badly. We all have had a computer problem that temporarily panicked us. If you scroll down this page a bit, you will see our previous exchange. It's right there. However, just in case you don't find it, I'll copy and paste it here:

"Have you lost your bookmark bar? That may be the problem. This is copied and pasted from Mozilla. The menu button is the Square set of lines at far upper right.

The Bookmarks toolbar is hidden by default. To turn it on or back off:

Click the menu button and choose Customize.
Click the Show / Hide Toolbars dropdown menu at the bottom of the screen and select Bookmarks Toolbar.
Click the green Exit Customize button."

RedWhiteBlue  Thank you so much. I'm back to ''normal''...what ever that is. Gosh, I looked for my post about this problem before but maybe I didn't go back in time enough.
Thanx again! : ) Don't go too far.

Iacta alea est  1980, living in Memphis, daily drive took me right past the Rev. Al Green's (Let's Stay Together ) church. When I moved from the Holiday Inn into my own apartment, the phone company left a Shelby County phone book with my new phone. On a lark, a thumbed over to the letter "K", and right there on the page was the listing....King, could've knocked me over with a feather.

Balogreene  An incredible musician, even though he admitted he couldn't sing and play the guitar at the same time (watch his videos ). BB and Muddy Waters did so much for the '60s rock and roll stars. They schooled Keith Richards, George Harrison, Ron Woods, Eric Clapton, J.J. Cale, and more. And now, those R&R musicians are in their 70's or dead. Thank goodness a younger generation (Eddie Vedder, Bono, etc ) also studied at their knees. But, who will come next?

This is great music, I hope it continues.

There is a great album out there, "Muddy and the Rooster", where they school the sixties guitarists. It is wonderful to hear them tell Keith Richards and Eric Clapton they don't know how to play the guitar. I only mention Muddy Waters, cause I am from Chicago. But, Muddy and BB were the best!

Iacta alea est  My favorite BB King album is actually not a "BB King" album. It is "The Crusaders with BB King and the London Philharmonic Orchestra" live in London. A great performance.

Balogreene  You know, 65 years after getting hers, mom's wouldn't do that. 10 years after getting mine, they would.

Went to a new dentist Monday, who said my dentures were the worst he's seen in years. I will get new dentures in the next 6 weeks! Then they won't blow out: )

StormCnter  Just after the War, my grandmother famously leaned over the side of a tour boat in Florida and lost her top plate. She spent the rest of her trip shielding her mouth with a hand so no one would notice.

Balogreene  You know, I was in my 20's before I knew mom wore dentures, she even slept in them, never used adhesive, loved corn on the cob. But, when I think back, they were yellow (as befitting coffee and age ), and maybe a little large. She had them 50 years before she had to have them replaced (got them in 1950 ). My grandmother the same, she died wearing the same dentures she'd gotten 50 years before (same dentist as mom ). Now, they charge you $3k to $4k, and tell you maybe they'll last 10 years. I want what mom and grandma had! Actually, I want dad's perfect teeth, but since I'm talking about my second pair of dentures, that is probably unlikely.

StormCnter  The same grandmother who lost her upper plate into a Florida canal bought her second set of dentures from a traveling dentist who visited the remote Texas ranches in the mid 40s. He promised her a good set of dentures for $400, which was a significant hunk of money in those days. She needed to replace her old set, so she gave him the money much to the ridicule and hilarity of her family. Three weeks later, he returned, fitted her new dentures and she was happy with them to the end of her life 35 years later.

Linder  Mother, who will be 102 in 2 months will soon be fitted for new top dentures. They were somehow broken at the nursing home. Is now on a soft diet and to supplement calories I take her soft ice cream most every day. I don't go to the Dairy Sweet so had no idea of the cost...small sundae is $ being conservative I now get just the bowl of ice cream for $1.14 and bought caramel topping to add myself. Lined a small cooler with ice packs and it arrives at her room without any melt. And every day she says it is the best thing she has ever tasted.

Balogreene  Linder, my mormor (mother's mother ) was in hospital in the DC suburbs on 9/11. They packed up everyone they could and took them to Nursing Homes in preparation for all the people who did not survive. She was convinced we put her there to die, and didn't eat. They put the tray out of her reach and didn't feed her, and she just wanted to die anyway. Nightly, I took her Starbucks frappucinos and McDonald's shakes. She loved them. I kinda think that was all she ate in the month she lived. She died 10/11/01, at not quite 95. But, she loved ice cream, shakes and coffee!
May 16 at 19:46 EST .

Balogreene  The thing that scares me about Mormor, one of my friends at work, her father died at the same Nursing Home a year or two before Mormor. Another friend at work, her mother was also moved there on 9/11. She lasted a month longer than my Mormor.

Bettijo  What in the world is going on with Lucianne.Com? I opened several articles in new tabs and while reading them I repeatedly get messages in a white box at the top of the screen that says something line "The page at Payload tested. It's working." or "The page that you are looking for used information that you entered. Returning to that page might cause any action ...."
These messages take me out of whatever I am reading, or even writing here, and back to main page.

Anybody else having problems?
