Balogreene Magdalene, so glad you too are well. I prayed, but thought of you as the woman with the same name as my late cat. I told God, He knew who I meant.

Linder Watching the Oklahoma tornado on Fox. The estimates of the size and of the time it has been in formation are unbelievable. Be as safe as possible Oklahoma friends.

Surfhut Moore is a suburb of OKC; part of the metro area. The monster struck 3 miles south of my office. We have an underground storm shelter big enough for all of us. I'm pretty sure Magdalene and Saguni are safe. Don't know about Montanabound. She lives in the country near Shawnee, just east of OKC. There's unspeakable death and destruction. Prayers please, dear Warriors.

Balogreene Wasn't yesterdays tornado in Shawnee? My sister lives in Tulsa, and was telling me about that one last night? Not nearly as bad as today.

Magdalene Surfie, Shawnee was hit yesterday. I don't have contact info for Montana. For those who remember back before there was a Connection, on May 3, 1999, a massive tornado followed almost the same path, turning sharply north after it hit Moore. Some of the local weathermen say this one was worse in many ways, one of them said the worst tornado in history. That one was late in the day, after 6, this one was around 3:30. It was on the ground for a good 45 minutes (I watched the whole thing ). The path was 11 miles long and up to 2-1/2 miles wide with its debris field. Whole neighborhoods, hundreds, maybe thousands of homes leveled, not trailer parks, these are primarily brick & mortar. Shopping areas flattened. And the worst of it, two elementary schools were demolished, and one of them was not fully evacuated. They are digging it out, but estimate as many as 40-50 children and staff may be still under the rubble. Most public buildings do not have basements here. (If you'd ever tried to dig a hole, you'd understand why. )

Balogreene Oh goodness, why do tornadoes hit schools. In 1965, or 66, when I was in 9th grade, there were tornado warnings. They made us leave the building, then locked the doors. We watched green skies, and funnels go overhead. When we got home, we found the tornado had hit Belvedere IL, one place hit was the high school. The buses with the elementary and junior high students were outside the school. Many were hurt and killed. In 1970 I met girls who had been there. Their patterned pantyhose were still imprinted on their legs. But, they were the lucky ones, they lived. I am back to those years, those fears.

Montanabound The Moore storm, much weakened, continued through our little town on a northwest path. We got in the shelter and waited it out. I heard it touched down two miles north, but it must have hit a cow pasture, as I haven't heard of anyone's house being struck. I remember the May 3, 1999 tornado really well. My younger son was getting inducted into the Honor Society, so we were all in the school auditorium. One of the administrators was listening to a weather radio and told us all to grab a piece of cake and get to a shelter. That storm also leveled Moore, then made its way to our town. We had some fence damage then, but nothing this time. I'm really thankful, but it is heartbreaking to watch the local news, especially children and parents not able to find each other.

Montanabound I'm 15 miles from Shawnee, but the storm tracked south of us. A trailer park just west of Shawnee got demolished. My son and his family in Edmond had to go to their shelter, also. Hope the other L-dotters from the OKC area check in soon! Kudos to our weather forecasters.

Ole buzzard This is bizarre! What world do these people live in? Of course it is relevant where the president was and what he did during the attack on Benghazi!!

Linder If the American people do not rise up and demand to know where the president was and what specific input he had into the U.S. government's actions as American representatives were being murdered...then I have no hope for our country.

Dixonnh We've been told that our desire to know where the prez was while Americans were being murdered is an "irrelevant fact". In fact all the problems that came out last week with this administration is "irrelevant fact". And remember, What difference, at this point, does it make?????
