Ynaught Mt. Cook, NZ's tallest peak - 14,000+ feet. So majestic and beautiful! We took a helicopter up to a snow field near Mt. Cook and got to play in the snow a bit. Living in coastal SC, we don't see snow much, so it is extra special for us!

Ynaught Pukekura is the smallest town in New Zealand with a population of 2! There the economy is well supported by the Bushman's Center where you can get a snack of whitebait, have a cup of coffee strong enough to melt a spoon, and visit a museum of things you won't ever want to see in the wild. I hope you can read the menu:

Ynaught Much of New Zealand is covered in ferns. Some are advocating changing the flag to feature a single fern frond.

Rake King I've always loved ferns. For some reason there is usually silence or quiet around them as here you find most in some deep dark forest environment. Ynaught, I am really enjoying your posting from your trip. I am too old, and never got to go "down under". Iam seeing i from your eyes. Thanks.

Ynaught You can't tell from this photo, but that fern "flower" is about 8 feet in diameter! I keep wanting to wander deeper into the forests here. There are no snakes or dangerous plants or spiders like in the movies, just gorgeous vegetation and bird sounds. I'm so glad you are enjoying my pictures!

Ynaught In Fox and Franz Country - the west coast of the South Island has two glaciers, Fox and Franz Josef. We are in a wonderful B&B with this view of Franz -

Ynaught We took a helicopter ride up to a glacier in the Southern Alps and spent a few minutes walking around in the snow in the middle of NZ's summer. Flying back to Queenstown I was struck by how blue this glacial pond was. The color in the photo isn't quite as vibrant as in real life, but you can get an idea of it.

Safetydude Yeah, because we're 30 minutes south of Sarasota and Siesta Beach and an hour, or so, south of Tampa, St. Pete and the Clearwater beaches we don't get a lot of the crazies like they do up in the Panhadle. We do get a lot of children and grand-children visiting in our community and they tend to take over the pools but we adjust. After April life gets back to 'normal'.
