MeiDei  Downton Abbey Season 5 has ended, what are your thoughts about it? Violet's vulnerability & her final acceptance of Mrs. Crawley touched me. Can Mary ever accept Edith, or her baby? Will the new guy Mary has set her sights on return her interest [she seemed needy at their parting]? Has Barrow discovered doing good is better than plotting evil? What do you expect in the final Season 6?

BirdsNest  We managed to get a copy of "Fried Green Tomatoes" and watched it last night. I had forgotten how much I liked that movie. Jessica Tandy. Kathy Bates(she was really pretty, beautiful skin ) and others, just a sweet movie.

BirdsNest  Last night we watched "St. Vincent" with Bill Murray, Melissa Mc Carthy,Naomi Watts,Chris O'Dowd and some unknown young boy whose name I cannot remember.

Obviously not a vehicle for greatness for MM, she played the mom, kind of low key. Naomi Watts was a tough-as-nails "dancer", O'Dowd played a priest(good job, I thought ), Bill Murray as an aged curmudgeon...heck of a job . Multi feceted role for him, surprises all along the way, there was a lot of depth to his character. The young boy was unbelievable. This film brought us to tears several times. We will be looking for a copy to watch it again, the one we had came from RedBox.

MeiDei  Anyone watching "Grantchester" after Downton Abbey? That vicar is nice on the eyes & the character he plays is not bad either.

Richdet  Have caught up with the first two episodes of "Grantchester," and like it very much. In episode 2 I encountered the usual problem of a couple of British actors sounding like they had marbles in their mouths, and had no idea what they were saying. Fortunately, I was able to follow the mystery plot nonetheless.

I also found the History Channel's "Sons of Liberty" about Sam Adams, John Hancock, Paul Revere et al in the run-up to the Revolution a good way to get through the blizzard.

BirdsNest  Last night we watched "The Last Samurai" with Tom Cruise. An exhausting film, I say that because this morning I feel like I have been punched all night.

BirdsNest  Star Trek Into Darkness was last night's movie. We have watched it untold times. Our DVD library is large, but we have watched most of them more than once. Can't wait for warmer weather and yard sales where we can find $1 DVD's. Learned the hard way to open the box, check out the dvd for scratch lines. We have a couple that won't play because they are a mess on the back. I guess it is too much trouble to replace the disk after viewing. Now I know.

BirdsNest  Thrift store had a pristine copy of "The Replacements" for $2, it came home with us. Gene Hackman was enjoyable and made us laugh. Needed that after yesterday-what a frustrating day it was.

BirdsNest  Last night's dinner and a movie choice was "Draft Day" with Kevin Costner and Jennifer Garner. Actually this was the second time we have watched it in 2 days. I am not a fan of sports but I do like movies about sports, go figure. And never in a million years would I have thought such things go on during the hours prior to the actual draft.

RoseOfTexas  I loved Draft Day! I love football, but to me this was more about "the art of the deal" - negotiating what the different factions (owner, fans, QB ) were demanding & following the vision he had for the team, as well as manipulating the other teams' "deciders."

BirdsNest  Rose, we have watched this 4 times in 5 days. Each time we catch a previously un-noticed detail in the background. I love the art of the deal. Sonny goes from a donkey to a superstar. It is an exciting movie. The music the sound effects all add to the build up of the game. The deal.

BirdsNest  Has anyone seen the movie "A Most Wanted Man?" We watched it last night, it was one twist after the next. I should maybe need to watch it again, it was good but in an unsettling way. Like you did not know if you really understood it or not.
